Lol its missing one of the BIGGESt things: the gigantic dead whale floating around the Thousand Needles. I know it's a monster and not part of the actual world, but that would be pretty cool!
Since it has to be released earlier, how does the afternoon of October 5th sound? People would just be getting home from work and school, and then they would have a full weekend to test it.
If I'm going to release it early, it'll be released whenever I can finish the changes and beta test it. I don't know exactly when that will be. Hopefully it will be done before the 5th, since I will be presenting on the 9th and would like to use the weekend to prepare for that.
On a related note, if anyone is attending AIIDE this year and wants to meet up, send me a notice. =p
Here's a build contest that should be of interest to you all - Minecraft + Pandaria. Pretty good prizes, $300 3D printing gift certificate and an XBox 360 (whatever that's good for). I'm not affiliated blah blah blah, this contest came as a surprise to me. I just wrote the Mineways model exporter they're using.

I have a feeling that simply exporting part of Pandaria into Minecraft would be a little... cheap. So I might just pass. =p
Can you imgine what can be done with this? With hundereds of people living on these maps, a few mods for zeppelins and ships, this could be made into the single largest and most interactive role-playing server ever. Player run economy, warfare, trading and politics. you could literally live a second life on this map.
I think it's settled. Minecraft could be a better world of warcraft than world of warcraft.
I'm also very interested how you convert all the small .wlq and .wlw files to Minecraft.
Water is one of the most annoying parts of the conversion since there are many, many ways it can be represented. I don't even parse wlq/wlw files (deprecated?), just mh2o in adt and mliq in wmo. There are still a couple areas where it gets messed up and I need to manually patch it.
Yeah, I used Machinima Studio to extract the files from a Instance (Zul'Gurub).
Now I have .adt files, how do I convert them to .obj or directly to .schematic?
I really need those Instances for a project.
AFAIK there is no tool to convert adt to obj right now. The tool I'm using could be adapted to create schematic files, but it doesn't do that currently.
It directly converts from adt/wmo/m2 into mca. There is an intermediary where models are represented as a set of triangle / uv coordinates, but that's not stored as a file, it just exists within the program.

It's probably easier to just say that a Wizard did it.
Really EPIC! May I obtain permission from you to do cinematic pictures of this map as part of my cinematic gallery project? It would be perfect for stuff like that! You may also use the pictures for publicity if you want to

When the map is released, I hope lots of people will take pictures and videos of it. Taking screenshots is actually pretty time consuming and I appreciate other people helping out =p
Hopefully I will have enough time to check it before release. The conversion is based on abbreviations found in the filenames (e.g. gra = grass, flo = flower, etc.) so it's not guaranteed to be foolproof.

Glorious work, I must say. Unfortunate that due to color selection, some zones will need to be entirely in Netherrack.
Netherrack isn't that bad looking if you've got something like optifine for mipmapping.
Would be more amazing if you did it by hand, but your amazing powers of technology have made hand-work obsolete!
We are all lesser beings in your stride, good sir!
I eagerly await the download so that I can live in Dalaran.
edit: Also, you should probably get SethBling or someone to make piston elevators for Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Gnomeregan.....

More people would understand it too. ;P
