A redstone CPU would bring this thing beyond epic levels, but it's actually too small to house one. If I were to install one, most of the circuitry would have to be in the ground under it, that ground being about 5-15 blocks below the surface of the water. BIG project there lol.
As for the piston display, I'm actually already playing around with it. I've had a lot of ideas for this come to me in these months waiting for pistons to arrive. I just finished "pistonizing" my minecart stations, now the Big Mac is next in line for a refit. Soon to come...an animated screen!
Am i the only one who doesn't think this is that good? I've seen better Minecraft 3d computers but you guys seem pretty about it. Still nice do.
Nah, guaranteed you're not the only one. To each their own, and I'm fine with anyone stating their opinion. This was my first ever pixel art project (5 months ago), and it was more popular than I thought it would be too. Still, it's about to get a pretty big facelift.
I'd be interested in seeing any other 3d computers you know about. My projects are never finished, and inspiration is always helpful.
When I saw the title I was like "Wow it's gonna be a huge ass burger....." *Sees pictures* "Oh an APPLE mac :C, how dissapointing"
But seriously that is epic

I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success....Such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything.
Yeah, I was wanting to see a massive burger, too. :tongue.gif:
As for why this is so popular, This is a classic Apple IIe (roughly). It's a pretty good job of it, too. This little computer was part of what made the personal computer (mac or other) so popular today. It's an icon in the technology world.
More on topic, though. I was looking at your original aquarium design. One thing you could do, and I might download it and try it myself, is at the bottom, have the squid flow into a stair style mob-avator (not the vertical one). Have it gradually bring them back to the top.
*Edit* Just built the recycling aquarium, and it works!!!
If you think the title and OP tells you everything you want to know about a thread, don't reply. If you want to actually read the thread and post an intelligent reply, you're welcome to it.

It does take awhile for them to make it up the ramp because they keep swimming backwards, but it works. :smile.gif: Might try replacing the glass on the bottom of the ramp with ice to see if they're forced up faster.

Holy crap, you've achieved the impossible! That up-stream river is brilliant!
I was never able to get them up from the bottom of the tank, so I dismantled the aquarium screen months ago. Any chance I could get a copy of your save? I've made vertical mobavators before, but never this kind. I'd love to see it in action.
Right now I'm working on 2 Big Macs at once. One is getting a piston-screen, but nothing's wired yet, so there's not much to show. The other one though...in a manner of speaking, I'm installing Minecraft onto that one. Here's a pic of the progress. It's not done yet, there's still a bunch of details to add in, things to tweak, and I'll probably increase the depth of it too. It's gonna be a whole animated scene when I'm finished.
It's funny, just like a real computer screen, this one is a lot easier to see at night. I'm thinking about installing BetterGlass, or whatever it's called, so the screen is easier to see all the time.
Ah! One of my favorite icons ever! The System 7 greeting icon that is found in the ROM. You, sir, have inspired me to do something awesome.

Ideas I would like to see in vanilla Minecraft: 1) A grinding machine — similar to a furnace, but breaks down items like a leather tunic into pieces of leather. 2) Recycling — the ability to smelt metal tools and pieces of armor back into their respective ingots. 3) A hammer — used to break down cobblestone into gravel, and gravel into sand. 4) A study — a work bench that takes an enchanted item and a plain book to extract enchantments at the cost of experience.
It's funny that this thread should get bumped today...I just finished working on a rudimentary 2-color piston display, and was about to post it. Details to come very soon!
By all means, go right ahead! Sounds like a fun project, I'm excited to see it!
Feel free to link to it in here.

I read your post, then glanced over to your avatar. BRILLIANT. It just fit perfectly.

Sounds cool! Got any pics of this setup?

Yep! Only not as black-and-white as that one. I think the color one was used on G3 models and later. My OS9-booting G4 still uses it. :tongue.gif:
Hey, thanks for the spammage! :angry.gif:
Yes. Yes I do.
By the way, Post 1 has been updated with the color piston screen!
