After getting Magic Launcher and LiteLoader to play well together, I got brave (dumb, I know) and tried to set up a profile that will load both Forge and LiteLoader.
Everything was working beatuifully... I had Forge, and OptiFine loading in the Mojang Launcher.
It all broke when I added the information to make use of LiteLoader.
It loads LiteLoader (I know this because it displays the macro/keybinds info in the top-left of the main screen) but it no longer indicates that Forge or Optifine are running.
For reference, I am using the Mojang Launcher, and not Magic Launcher for this new problem. I am hoping to get the profile completed for the Mojang Launcher before I try to load it up in Magic Launcher. I am posting my json file below, because as we already established in the other thread, it only succeeds in driving me mad. I already had Notepad++ from other projects, so if there are any formatting tricks I need to be aware of, I would be grateful if you could tell me.
In my Notepad++, it shows the OptiFine and LiteLoader additions as being properly spaced. Not sure why it's messing up here. This is not a priority for me, as Forge would only be a bonus on top of LiteLoader. I don't "need" it.
Okay, you environment looks fine, could you post your launcher log?

I got that working (thanks to fhthagn's suggestion) and the error isn't in the dev console any longer. Is there another way to find a history of the logs? Maybe we could use it to pinpoint why one version works and the other doesn't... Probably was just my mistake though.
In any case... Now that I have Forge and LiteLoader playing nice together... How do I go about installing mods like Zan's, and TMI? I tried to launch the new working enviro in Magic Launcher and it just causes a java crash with no logs or indications as to why it happens.
Putting zanmap162j.zip in the mods folder does not work. Is it safe to inject it to the Forge version jar itself, or do I need to put it in a different folder? I am going to check the zanmap thread on that other forum, and check if maybe I got the wrong version; same for TMI.
Edit: That was the problem. I had accidentally gotten the wrong versions. They show in the mods menu now. Going to log into my server and see if everything is working properly. Wish me luck.

If Magic Launcher is crashing the startup of a working environment... not sure what is happening. Can you go to profile edit, double check environment selection, show the log, and hit test?
There should be something there. Also, make sure the mods folder is totally empty.
I am in the middle of rewriting the guide to handle Magic Launcher, so hold on for a while for an answer about mods. For reference, I was able to add Zan's minimap as a mod into Magic Launcher the normal way, but had to add TMI as an external mod (in the mods folder.)
I'm having problems with the .json file for optifine. Is it possible you could upload it with the formatting correct? All these posts, there's no spacing, so I can't copy.

When I run minecraft, it closes the launcher, and then I have java running according to my task manager, but minecraft isn't open.
Need a copy of your launcher log. If you are using the Mojang launcher, edit the profile and change the Launcher Visibility settings.
As for posting a json file, are you running Forge and/or liteloader? What build of Forge?
If you are running Forge, had you set the -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true option?

Was going to edit my post, but thanks for the swift reply. I must have missed the steps where it said to add: -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true to the profile.
Thanks for posting this thread! Along with the provided instructions and several other tutorials, I finally managed to install Optifine for 1.6.2. Although, my json file also seems to allow the URL that I placed in spoilers to work.
"file://nothing"
If you have any concerns with this, feel free to reply. Otherwise, great work with the tutorial or whatever you prefer to call it.

Until Optifine has a url we can call directly for updates, the url isn't really needed at all, but thanks, file://nothing is a good trick. Guide now updated to use this URL.
As stated in the beginning of the guide: What to do if the guide is not working for you: Create a reply with the following information:
What section and step you have a problem at.
Use the Spoiler tag (Example:
Text contained by the spoiler
or share a copy of your JSON file, and launcher log. (Clear the log and try one more time. Then copy. This cuts down on duplicate log info.)
Post screenshots if you feel they will aid in the troubleshooting.
i want FORGE + LITELOADER + OPTIFINE in on profil and if possible working with magiclauncher.. but in your guide you only tell us how to add "FORGE + OPTIFINE" or "FORGE + LITELOADER".
how can i combine this?
Do the Installing Forge Modloader part. Then the Installing LiteLoader with FML (Chained).
After that follow the Using Magic Launcher instructions, and finally Installing Optifine with Forge and/or LiteLoader (Magic Launcher).
I know how to make a version, but there is any difference between the forge and liteloader json file besides the name and the thing at the bottom?
Yes. Each json file defines what libraries to load. The Forge json file will have the default minecraft libraries. The liteloader json will have litloader, and if you selected "chain" during the install, it will have forge in there as well. the liteloader and forge json files will also contain "tweak" directives in the minecraft arguments section.
when i do this and use liteloader in the enviroment i can't connect on any server (Bad Request!) when i use the forge-enviroment, liteloader isn't loaded
When you installed LiteLoader, did you check the "Chain" checkbox?
Please attach a copy of your liteloader json file.
Gave up trying to download file://nothingnet/optifine/optifine/1.6.2_HD_U_A2/optifine-1.6.2_HD_U_A2.jar for job 'Version & Libraries'
I'm pretty sure this is why I can't get it to work. I tried it also with B3 and B4 with no luck. If you could help me out or explain I'd be very grateful.

Okay, can you post the whole launcher log, your json file, and a screenshot showing the folder and file name of the optifine library?
A few things could be happening.
Make sure you created the folder names properly, and renamed the optifine zip to a jar, and changed the underscore to a dash.

Thanks for all your work on this subject!
You deserve far more credit than you are getting!
Nice work, better than I would have written it.
Optifine is the only mod that I have had to add in Magic Launcher so far, all the others I use work fine just in the mods folder.
