Hey, just curious, anything more I could do with this? I'm going to populate the inside of the cells, but not sure what else to do with it...
Ambient lighting with redstone torches. I think that they'd actually go quite well with the look of the area ('cause they have a weird texture in JS, and usually don't go well with things because of it).
I'm probably just missing something very obvious here, but how do you make mobs drop custom potions with the effects you desire?
For example, I want the mob to drop this:
But the real mob drops this:
Try using Water Bottles (unlabeled potions) instead, and add lore that looks like the potion effects. There's a mod that can do this very easily right MYAH. Your problem is (probably) being caused by the fact that you edited a fire resistance potion, instead of making a custom one.
Well guys, I'm scrapping the map I was currently working on. Reason being I feel like I hadn't organized it correctly, or the way I wanted it to, so I'm just going to start over. I've learned a lot, so that should help with remaking the map entirely. I've been really lacking motivation lately to work on it, and so after playing a few maps by others, I feel like I finally have something to work off of (I actually have a theme now, instead of just smacking cool ideas together).

Try to make smaller maps at the start, it will get you to actually finish a map without losing inspiration, gradually get bigger and bigger until you can make a full 16-wool 3-MB map.
Don't make the area have insanely powerful mobs, but rather huge amounts of weaker mobs, it would be fun to mow down giant hordes of zombies and spiders
+1
Fighting hordes are always so much more fun then fighting a few uber-buffed mobs

I'd tend to agree with this, but I find adding a few powerful mobs to the mix makes things much more interesting. Fighting a large group of lightly-armed melee skellies with a single wither skellie acting as their "leader" makes for some fun gameplay.

Well, might this be helpful for some mappers here?
My recent episode of Monumental Victory did some discussion of General Design Theories in relations to CTM making that used that as a reference point but was more focused on CTMs. Skip to 6:09 for the start of it.

Two great videos any mapmaker or player would enjoy.
@Rock I hope you'll continue with more videos on this subject. I enjoyed it a lot.
I think it'd be nifty to see a discussion on small areas vs large areas, maybe even getting into a ctm guide-esque discussion of how to defeat larger areas without being way too intimidated.

Just don't catch the Inferno Mines Syndrome
Looks a little bare...

I'll see what I can do. It's just a matter of plotting out the material to do so.

Just saying.
