Hey, just wanted to let you know that my next open world, post-apocalyptic CTM "From Flames" has just been released. For now it's open beta, and if you'd like to help us with your feedback, you can find it here ;]
Congrats on finishing your 2nd ctm. I can't play it cause I'm superbusy with other maps.
I'm even happier that it's becoming a block in vanilla.
Anyways, been pretty busy today, but not so much with the thread. I've been beta testing Septum Immoriel's Intersection 1, Pantheon, From Flames, and Blue Sky Labs #0. I only recently finished up beta testing Catharsis too (that's also been added to the official list in place of Globule which I thought was CTM but was sorely mistaken by a crappy list) with the author, Unstorpable.
Sooo you'll excuse me if the thread doesn't get updated for a few days, but rest assured I'm still on the forums. And here. On this thread. Watching you.
My next thing once I come out of beta land is probably getting as I was going to do today, another 100 maps up on the map list. I'm going to be going down z_bill's big list for map series to put there, but I'll probably need some help from randomers since that is an old list and probably doesn't have a lot of the more recent CTMs on it. If you see a map or map series that's relatively new... say, within 6 months of now... that isn't up there, notify me.

The community is just so big now, it had better be good.
I really hope so. I see two possibilities.
1. Lots of people make CTM maps, and the newcomers get constructive feedback that improves their work, and a thriving CTM community emerges with tons of people participating and good maps being produced in a constant stream.
2. Lots of people make CTM maps, but the newcomers get chased off by skeptics, overly-harsh criticism, and lack of interest, and the CTM community becomes a closed, elitist society.
The latter isn't really all that likely (people around here are generally a bit better at giving constructive feedback), but I have seen it happen in other communities. *coughhackSporecoughhackhack*

Spore is a really old game now. I only play'd it cause one of my friends really got hyped about it. And darkspore did not save it in any way.
Who are you on about? o_o I'm on about Torien, who hasn't yet finished From Ashes, and is now going to probably hurry through it so he can play From Flames xD
ew rsmalec. I'm not too big a fan of his reviews, being pretty set in CTM, and although he reviews CTMs better now, I still don't feel he totally gets the gist of the map -- especially since he is, and has said in the past, he's not good at them.

It is an old game, however, you'd be surprised at how long the community has lasted. Heck, almost all of my Steam friends are people I met through Spore, and I only met most of them two years ago at the max. Sometimes I even consider booting up Spore again and seeing if I can finish that adventure with a great concept that I never finished but I hoped I would one day but probably never will.
Closed, elitist society is better than no society at all, I guess.
Not saying we'll get there at any point ever (Well unless we all turn into Hybran) but yeah.
Well, that community model is only good for those inside it. Anyone outside that closed group is very likely to think bad of it, and chances are other closed groups would spring up just to counter the original group.
Still going on theory, here; things won't ever get that bad.

I had no preconceived notions of him until yesterday, when a friend of mine said he'd be playing his adventure map as a part of his "Hidden Gems" series; an adventure map that I know is very good and needs more attention.
I can't remove any paintings using MCEdit... They show up as "brown" entities, but selecting the area around them and choosing "delete entities" does not work ;/ Is this normal or my MCEdit is broken?
Or MCedit regards entities like Item Frames and Paintings as different than just your average mob. I don't suppose the /killall or whatever it was command for Singleplayer Commands is operational?

So, it's sort of like "Let's see... who should we let produce this awesome game series with limitless potential? EA, Activision, Or Zynga?"
WHAT?!
Danger zone.
Spot on. Not to say IPB sucks, per say, but it just has a lot of problems because of what we want to do with it.

TT2000, you are genius.
What you need is a napalm rail gun.

There should be a Hybran day when we all change our avatars to speed potions. :3

And I agree, Darkspore was a catastrophe.

Rsmalec +100 Drago points.

It's always broken.
