As of recent, I have finally decided to move on and stop tinkering and tweaking every single detail there is in the map. Now, the Pink wool shall be started.
And now, temporarily, I am disabling my table of contents, due to some issue that is currently out of my control.

Corruption #01 - Forgotten Development is here! See it at:
Since there are many of you here who don't know who I am, I thought it might be nice to make a section to tell you of who I am. I am known as WittyWhiscash online, but for short, you can call me Witty. I am a male who lives in Canada. I take writing, reading, and gaming as hobbies. I am currently running a Youtube channel, which you can find here. http://www.youtube.c...r/wittywhiscash
CTM stands for Complete The Monument. This genre was originally created by Vechs, the now famous author of the Super Hostile Series. The goal of this genre is to obtain wool blocks to put on a monument, along with the three types of metal blocks. Vechs originally thought that Minecraft was way too easy, and said created an island surrounded by lava, with no grass. Back then until Beta 1.8, grass generated "unlimited" amounts of food (Pigs), armor(Cows), and arrows(Chickens). So in taking away those luxuries, his first map - Sea of Flame - was born. Vechs has now created over 13 maps, with several mini maps, alternative maps, and multiplayer maps.
Now you may be thinking "Well this must be an adventure map just with allowing you to break blocks!" No. There is a strong ravine between adventure maps and CTM maps. The main one being that you can break blocks, and there is a difficulty curve in each CTM map that you find, whether it be Vinyl Fantasy by Three_Two, who brings out maps for the CTM veterans, or Vechs' maps, which are made for all people. When it comes to building a CTM map, the mapmaker has to build amazing landscapes and unique dungeons for the player, while twisting and shaping the land to restrict you and strain you of necessary resources you normally get in vanilla, such as stone, iron, and diamond. A CTM map also inquires you to tackle difficult dungeons carefully, as the mapmaker can throw anything at you, whether be a load of zombies from dickishly placed spawners, or those nasty crawling Cave Spiders. In an adventure map, most of the time, the mapmaker doesnt really pay attention to the terrain, and cares about awe-inspiring structures that the player adventures through to solve riddles and puzzles.
The rules for a CTM map are simple:
1. Find and Complete the Corrupted Monument
2. Find wool in chests scattered around the map. Do NOT use dyes/sheep/spider silk.
3. Survive in any way you can think of. (Mine blocks, place blocks, craft items, kill mobs)
4. Play on at least Easy, NEVER peaceful. (I balance around Normal)
5. DON'T leave the map boundaries
6. You may craft the Iron, Gold, and Diamond Blocks for the Corrupted Monument.
7. You may use wool you get from sheep and the wool you craft from spider string for other things, such as beds.
Although I do want to give you as much freedom as I do, there are some things I do need to restrict.
With mods, I do not recommend using them, as some features in my map might break, or it might give you a big advantage throughout the map. Mods that increase FPS, such as Optifine, and other mods that do not give the ability to cheat or make the map significantly easier, are allowed. If you are not sure if a mod fits in these guidelines, or you want my opinion on a certain mod, post here or drop a PM by me and I will do my best to reply as quickly as possible. And do not worry about texture packs. Only texture packs that give you a significant advantage are not allowed, such as X-Ray packs. I do recommend Faithful 32x32 to those who like the default textures, but not in 16x16.
Ender Chests are usually NOT recommended. Although I may wish to give you that freedom, if I do implement a set of Ender Chests, I WILL include additional rules into the map.
Again with Ender Chests, I do NOT recommend brewing potions of invisibility. I am fully aware that they can take the challenge away from an area. I fully prefer that they weren't used in a map, but the choice is sincerely yours, if you want to take that decision.
I do ask that you do not build your own Nether Portal. It fully can break progression, allowing you to reach, either normal generated Nether terrain, or even more damaging to the structure of the map, later areas. Unless the map is an open world, or I've stated that you can build your own, then circumstances will call for a different ruleset.
Easy - This is slightly harder than vanilla minecraft, but beginners to the CTM genre will still have to be cautious. Resources will be more abundant than usual, and there will be less spawners than usual. No traps, or VERY little will be in the map. Medium - This will be the average difficulty of my CTMs. They force you to manage some of your essential resources carefully, and weigh risk vs. reward. More spawners than Easy will be in the map, and there will be some traps. Hard - With hard difficulty, I become harder. Strangling you of more resources than Medium, and more spawners than Medium. Also more traps than Medium. Cruel - The only difference between Hard and Cruel is that I use **** moves. Traps that are inescapable and dickishly placed will be in the map.
Open World - The map takes place in a gigantic world, where all 16 dungeons are in one world. You can technically attack all the dungeons in any order you want. Linear Branching - The areas are split into several different intersections. Each intersection gives access to three areas with one or more dungeons with one of the areas leading to the next. This map type will be the most commonly used in my maps. Linear - The map just consists itself of one straight path that you need to follow to get all the wool. Linear Hub - The map consists itself of a hub, giving access to all areas and all wools, but not like open world. Hybrid - A combination of, usually, two map types. The map types will be stated out.
The first map in the series. This map sports a variety of environments, and is a fun challenge for new players to the CTM genre, and veterans as well. Unfortunately the map is still in development, so this thread is only for discussion of the map and the series.
There ain't much left of the world these days. The gods have forsaken us, there's no denying that. But still you press on. For what? A chance to sift through the ashes one last time? The hope to one day be called a hero? Whatever your reason, you've got a lot of work to do. The corruption won't leave without a fight, so you better get started.

Witty, what made you choose the name Corruption for your maps?
(let's get some conversation goin!)
I really don't know. I first was going to call it "Hostile Lands", but then I noticed that somebody already chose that name. Two map series I believe. The word corruption popped into my head for a name, and I went with that.

That's cool. Does the theme of the map have anything to do with corruption? Or is it just like most CTM maps with each area having a different theme/look?

Each area has a theme or look. Originally it was that it had a little storyline with the author, me, telling the player about something that had happened to the area, something that "corrupted" it.

Okay then. I might think about adding it. Let me think about it.
gud. Blight Castle had it, and I felt it greatly enhanced the map. Some maps like Super Hostile just don't need it because they're so awesome, but it would be cool if you had a story throughout the map series. Maybe do something with command blocks.

I already have a cool thing with a command block. At the victory monument, the player can hit a button, and the command block says "Dispensing, please wait a second...", and a bat comes out of the dispenser. :D. But I will look in to things with a new MCEdit block I discovered.
