On another note, I've found this table while reading through the article about armor on the MC wiki. It's shows the "the amount of defense untis per units of material (i.e. the cost efficiency), compared with the chestplate of each material.
It basically tells you which armor pieces to go for first, the order is chestplate - leggings - boots - helmet most of the time - expect for golden and chainmail armor, where the last two are switched, but you can't really craft chainmail armor anyways, and crafting golden armor would be a stupid thing to do.
Interesting, I might do another entry about this.
Thanks for pointing this out.
and i dont really need to use ton of spawners to make a map hard hehe

I hope you will make an organized walkthrough for all of the "Super Hostile" maps, just like "Sea of Flame"
I will, eventually. I takes quite a while to play through each map (one at a time) and plan out both the written walkthrough and the video one. I'm even planning on making an LP for Infernal Sky II before the walkthrough, as you can see in the poll.
Learn to play with a higher FOV. The difference between basic and 90 is negligible to your eyes, yet gives you so much more of an awareness to your surroundings. Going up to Quake Pro lets you observe huge amounts of what's around you, which is always helpful to avoid surprise creeper attacks...
That's a good observation! I used to play with FOV on max, but now I still have headaches from it. I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone though... I'll add it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I like it. It makes me feel like I go very quickly without sprinting or potions so I won't waste precious hunger barsMaybe that's how swiftness potions make you faster.

Yeah... It makes you feel that way - you're not actually any faster at all. >.> I think swiftness potions increase your FOV a bit as a side-effect.
Actually they do make you faster, by a lot. You can try it out by racing with someone else in multiplayer.
I'm pretty sure it makes you go at least two times faster with Swiftness II.

I got messed up, killfish11 and kingkaider were talking about FOV making you look like you're moving faster, when I thought they were talking if swiftness potions are real or not.
FOV and speed makes my head hurt.
Oh and matt, the download for the training map is broken

It's not broken for me or my friends, it's possible the site was down when you tried.
Maybe it will work now?
Yep, There was just a maintainanceZombies are technically more protected than skeletons as they have an extra armor point with unlimited durability, so making Zombie powered XP farms are not as usually efficient as skeletons unless you use health potions.
I have no idea if cave spider spawner powered XP grinder works.

I actually have a cave spider spawner xp farm on my survival world, it's slow, but it works fine.
Skeletons would still be the best option for xp grinders, though.

I almost finished playing Legendary, so I should be starting to write the written walkthrough in a few days.
Also, by June 23, 2012, my computer should be rebuilt and I'll be able to start the LP for Infernal Sky II.
They both will come out around the same time. I'm trying to get some money to buy upgrades, both software and hardware, but that's going to take a while. I'm going to be much more productive when that happens.
Please also help me by subscribing to my new youtube channel, where the videos will be published.
It's going to be 90% about CTM stuff, so if you like it... Subscribing to my channel ►
Legendary is quite hard in the beginning as you don't have stone to make furnaces or stone tools. But you can get a food grinder and a bed easily as there is a hidden zombie spawner and tons of cobwebs.

If you look at my screenshots in the Map Progress section, I'm doing pretty well, except for cobblestone.
It's true it gets hard to get cobblestone at the start, but after a few tries, it gets really easy. The stone in East Commons lasts quite a while if you don't waste it. I would recommend using wooden tools until you'd have a decent amount of cobblestone.

True, but if you take a few precautions, they're still the best choice for xp grinders.
