The mod Ex Nihilo, by Erasmus_Crowley, adds a ton of features that allow the player to accomplish almost anything, starting from almost nothing. This map aims to provide the perfect Ex Nihilo experience. You start from nothing (18 dirt blocks, and 1 birch tree), and the possibilities are limitless. Go to the nether, set up an iron golem farm, kill the ender dragon...

The Map:
-Spawn on a "fancy" 3x3x3 platform. -All biomes needed for bee stuff are located within 16 blocks of the island. -Located 30 blocks below the island lies the end portal, waiting to be activated. -Nether is a complete void, blocks are needed to even step out of the portal. -The End is a 5x5 obsidian platform.
Look at the challenges for the Age of Wood. It tells you there. Then read up on the mod documentation, there are some hints there to. I'm trying to avoid spoilers. =)
Where would the player(s) spawn? On top of the tree? =D
Yep. I've tested it, it is possible to get a sapling if you use the first two logs to make a crafting table then a crook and cut the tree down from the top. There would be a little bit of luck involved though

Hey! Just wanted to say that this is a great map and a great mod to go with it but i find that it is quite challenging and was wondering if theres any chance in you making an "easy" version of the map?

I did... that's the normal one. It gives you an un-edited End dimension, and a book full of helping hints.

The making of dirt really. Iv lost most of my dirt from trying to move it from one place to another but also its just really slow to make dirt because you need about 8 saplings to make 1 dirt (i think) but what i meant by "easy" is an even easier map then the one you've already made. just maybe making the island a bit bigger or maybe a bit more dirt lol idk either way its a great map and im going to continue playing it!
Use wood to spread out a little bit. Try to get a sieve built so that you can get your hands on some pumpkin or melon seeds. You don't have to limit yourself to saplings. If you're having trouble getting enough string, use the silkworms. That is literally the reason I made them. =)

haha i have Plenty of string from those silk worms lol its just that i dont have a way of transporting water so i cant make a farm

Keep in mind that you don't need water to make farms, water just makes them more efficient. Pumpkins and melons are probably the best to use, as water only affects the growth of the stem, not the pumpkin and melon blocks themselves.

Using a mod that makes birch wood un-usable in crafting recipes?
Try this version where the birch tree has been replaced with an Oak tree:

Make sure you download the amazing mod Ex Nihilo by Erasmus_Crowley:
Ex Nihilo: http://www.minecraft...-companion-mod/
I would also recommend Ex Aquilo (an ex nihilo add-on), by Zerokyuuni:
http://www.minecraft...hilo-companion/
And make sure that you change the config options to enable void generation (located at the bottom of the config file).
fixed

And I was planning on making an even harder version with only 1 dirt block and a tree...

Lol, you should do it. Ultra-hardcore!

What in particular are you finding challenging?
Three tiers of the map
Easy:
-Dirt island the same size as the original sky block, with birch tree
-Void Nether
-Full End island
Normal:
-"Fancy" 3x3x3 dirt island (the one currently implemented) with birch tree
-Void Nether
-Void End (like in the current hardcore version)
Hardcore:
-1 block of dirt with birch tree
-Spawn on top of the birch tree
-Void Nether
-Void End
(With an Ultra-Hardcore coming when I can think of a way to make the map harder)
Thoughts?
