This is gonna be awesome! Can't wait to play. Also I just realized, that me and you joined the forums st the exactly same date, the 10 november 2012!!!
I've been on the forums since September 2011. I've had a minecraft account for even longer than that.
Looking forward to the map, it's #1 on my upcoming ctm map queue which is actually like 20 maps.
D'awww, thanks guys.
I've been playing minecraft a lot longer than I've had my forums account. Back in the day, when food directly healed the player, there was no End, endermen were just a fantasy. *sigh*
I've decided to add a story line to my maps. If you read the info. for Frigid Wasteland, it'll start you off, and there'll be notes in the map that add to it.
This is a CTM map series (if you're not aware, CTM maps are Complete the Monument maps, where, in a hostile environment, you must conquer dungeons and collect wool blocks to put on the monument). The map I am currently working on is titled Frigid Wasteland, and is the first map I have ever made. My map series isn't going to have a set theme, although each individual map will. All this means block-wise is that they'll have a couple base blocks, and then variations in each area. For most of my maps, I plan to have a closed beta testing, just so I can monitor the feedback I'm getting, and so I know I can trust those who are beta testing. Frigid Wasteland's main idea, being based off of caves and cold, is the dark underground, although it will still contain many other types of areas and blocks. Here are some pics of the WIP:
As all CTM maps are, my map series is inspired by the first one to explore the CTM series, Vechs. Here's a link to his Super Hostile thread - http://www.minecraft...hostile-series/ (I recommend playing his maps, they're awesome!) If you're new to the CTM community, you should check that out first.
RULES
1. Find and power the Teleportation Device.
2. Find wool in fleecy boxes around the map. No using string or dye to make wool.
3. You may craft the iron, gold, and diamond blocks.
4. Don't go outside of the map boundaries.
5. Always play on at least easy, never peaceful.
6. You may use string and wool to craft other things, just not monument wool.
7. Survive in any way possible.
8. You may not pick up, craft, or move ender chests, or make your own nether portal.
9. Do NOT use any mods or hacks.
10. Have fun! (and die a lot)
MAP STYLES
Easy: substantial supplies given, areas are harder than vanilla minecraft, but not too challenging Medium: some supplies given, challenging areas, not many traps Hard: minimal supplies given, very challenging areas, moderate amount of traps Insane: no supplies given, practically impossible areas, high amount of traps
Open World: no set path, large space to navigate, dungeons not necessarily in order Linear Branching: areas branch off intersections, with only one area leading to the next intersection Linear: only one way to go
Now that we've gotten that cleared up, let's get to the actual maps! For all maps, I will have a standard set-up, with map name, difficulty of the map, the style of game play, a theme (if there is one), some extra information about the map, and, if the map is a WIP, then my progress on it. There will be the download link for the map below, and pictures of the map will be in a spoiler underneath all this.
MAPS
Frigid Wasteland
Difficulty: Medium (WIP)
Style: Linear Branching, Caves
Theme: Snow and Ice
Information: Will you ever find him? The creator of the Synopsis, which contains all the knowledge of the universe, and ruler of the Ancients, he's been isolated from civilization for thousands of years. You know he exists, you just need to find him. As you struggle with another step through the barren, snowy plain, a crack sounds from beneath you. You turn to run, but it's too late, and the hidden ice shatters below. You crash to the ground, not equipped with much, and unfit to fight for your life. It's a strange cavern, full of uncannily hard rock, but you venture on. A growl sounds behind you, and you slash the head off of a strange creature, with flaming eye sockets. What will you find here? Is it him creating these monstrosities? Who knows? The only way to find out is to survive, fight back, and conquer this deep, abysmal, frigid wasteland.
Progress: Finished with 4 intersections and 11 areas.
Download: N/A (WIP)

WOOT! Finished alpha. Now, once I fix-up some problems I encountered, and have the beta testers take a look at it, my map will be released!

I started beta 1.5._6 before sprinting or pistons or shears or criticals or enchanting or in-game potioncraft.
Looks good, I'll definitely try it out when it is released. One problem is that I absolutely hate it when I die and lose all my stuff, so I'll do it harcore. Removes some of the pressure... hehe...
-.-
Can't tell if you're being serious... (hardcore is just gonna make it harder)
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Looking for a CTM map, you say? Just click on the banner and look no further!
I am being serious, although I said it in a jokingly manner. I consider myself a good CTM player and I'd like to test my skills. It depends on the difficulty of the map, but if it isn't ROMhack-hard, I might do a harcore try. I probably won't finish, but it'll be a challenge nontheless.
It'll probably turn out somewhere in between medium and hard, with a rocky start.
D'awww, thanks guys.

I'll beta test it ... if you want...OK?
Kinda late... :/
I already have a full beta list, sorry.
In other news, it's officially in alpha testing!

I'm thinking of doing a minimap before starting another big project. Maybe that?
Yeah, I think it'll be really good timing with school ending for a lot of people. It'll also give me lots of time to make the next map!
-.-

Good luck with that!
Thanks! Sorry, beta testing is full as of now, but maybe for a different map.
Here's the final area of Crystallized Caverns:
I'll do some alpha testing now, and give it to the beta testers once I finish.
It took me like 10 minutes to beat. XD
This is a mini map, remember?
