I think you should create a custom texture pack. Just to understand things better, since the skeleton is a spiderfaced man in overalls and the spider.... in fact I don't even know what the spider is.

Yeah, I don't really have the artistic talent necessary to create a good texture pack. Plus, I like the spiderfaced man and the "hell maggot"

Sorry if this is answered, but is it compatible with 1.4.2?
An RP server of this map would be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I'd love to see how it looks after a couple of weeks of play once people have settled in. Could be fun!
Yup, it's compatible with 1.4.2-- the only thing to consider would be that the new items are invisible or all black with the current release of the texture pack, but I have it on good authority that Santiago3 is going to have the new update up soon, so that won't be a problem for long.

Just added two more optional challenges to the list that I had forgotten about before.
Also, worked up a start screen BG featuring the city of Newport (from this map) that might make it into the next update of "The End Is Extremely Nigh." We'll see! In the meantime, feel free to enjoy!
Eh, it's just a few items that don't have textures. I have it on good authority that the updated texture pack should be available soon, and it's going to make the map look 10x better!

Well may I ask a question? You said that you may create a new map, may I ask what it's genre is?
I'm actually working on a couple of maps at the moment. The one that I've been mentioning in this thread (Gasoline Dorado) is also post-apocalyptic, (it's the category that's received the most votes so far) but takes a drastically different approach to the genre than Letters does. I'm about 30-40% done with that one.
I'm also working on a couple that are played with the default texture pack. One is a take on "World In A Bottle" type maps called "Fishbowl Survival" and the other is a recreation of the world map from the SNES game Drakkhen. Fishbowl is probably about 40% complete and Drakkhen is just getting off the ground, probably less than 10% complete.
I'm still watching the votes to see what else is popular. I plan to make more maps after I finish the ones I'm working on, so it's nice to get a reading on what people want to see.

I thought Gasoline Dorado was part of Letters from a dead earth.....
I also played your other maps, challenging and good!

Thank you!
Gasoline Dorado is kind of a sequel. It happens in the same universe, but it's going to be a totally different map with a totally different storyline (and a totally new book to go along with it.)

Gasoline Dorado is approaching about 30% completion of the storyline. Here's another picture I took while I was wandering the wasteland.

Another screencap from Gasoline Dorado!
1.4.2 is out! Yay! Remember to patch your game so that your textures don't look all wonky!
I'm looking forward to the next update of Santiago3's pack, which should include some elements from 1.4.2 and also a number of other awesome updates!

I just found two more video features of the map and plugged them into the first post. Enjoy!
