The object of the game is to find the music shrine and forage through the land in search of 11 music records. There are many different and interesting areas to explore, each harder than the next. Because of this map’s length, size and difficulty, I recommend that only experienced minecraft players attempt this adventure. Here are some of the things you can expect from this game:
A large, detailed map to explore with loads of exciting temples to fight through
An RPG-style gameplay with challenging environments and bonus achievements
A soundtrack with over 20 tracks to be played in-game
Abyss pits, fiery death traps, cactus pits, hordes of monsters, and cake!
Thanks to Jacoshlu for the trailer!:

GENERALIZED MAP OF LAORA
I've added this map to give players some very basic guidance in their quest across Laora. This map shows absolutely no detail of each region, but does give some idea of the relative sizes of each area. I have also included the number of records in each area. Hope this helps!
PROLOGUE
In a long past time, the continent of Laora was used by elves and men alike who worked together to build up mighty cities. Laora was renowned for its many large temples; people from all across the world would travel to Laora to marvel at its wonders. The reason Laora was so prosperous was because the elves of the Naori jungle built a large shrine for the gods and provided the divine with beautiful music. For these musical offerings, the gods protected the continent from plight and aided in the construction of the immense temples. After centuries of flourishing, the Laorean continent was visited by the dark lord Mephistopheles, who cast an evil curse over the land. All the beautiful temples were taken from the humans and elves and settled by the dark cult. To stop Laora’s divine intervention, Mephistopheles scattered all 11 elven music vinyls from the shrine across Laora in well-guarded temples.
The humans and the elves both tried to fight off the hordes of cultists and monsters. Izarus, a powerful wizard, was appointed by the Laorean mages guild to study the curse and try to figure out a way to stop it. After travelling to Laora and investigating the wretched lands, he condemned the continent and was forced to flee by the evil’s potency. The Laoreans now look to you, brave adventurer, to put an end to the curse. You must fight your way up into the district of Albeon and restore all the elven music records to the shrine. In order to do this, you will have to fight your way through swarms of cursed monsters spawned by the evil powers of the dark cult. Will evil completely devour Laora or will a true hero restore divine intervention and free the land of the plague?
This is a french playthrough: Prof. Aurore is a very experienced and meticulous player which makes this LP extremelytantalizing.
ACHIEVEMENTS
To encourage risky behavior, there are several bonus parkour tracks built across Laora. If you complete a parkour challenge without placing blocks, you are rewarded with bonus items found at the end of the track that will help you on your way. It is illegal to take from a “bONUS chest” if you have not successfully crossed the parkour track. Items range from food and supplies or enchanted weapons and armor. Keep in mind that you can still place blocks to cross a parkour track, you just don't get the bonus items at the end.

You can download the game's soundtrack HERE. There are several signs in-game that prompt you to play a music track. When you see these signs, play the indicated track to heighten your gaming experience.

I've updated the map for 1.3.1. If you play with any previous versions, you may experience some problems. I've also added the soundtrack folder. It's quite big, so it may take some time to download but it's well worth it! If anyone experiences any problems with the map, please post the issues on the thread!
Also, if anyone does a Let'sPlay and I feel it is well done and interesting (and they use the soundtrack) I'll feature your LP in the game's description. I look forward to watching your LPs!
1) Can I break/place/craft/etc. blocks when I am not in a parkour section, and is it legal to leave with bonus loot by placing blocks?
2) If I do LP this, it won't have the required soundtrack, because some of those are copyrighted tracks and therefore can't be used without buying a license to use them.
You might want to consider that last one.
1) The only time you cannot place/break blocks normally is when you're performing a parkour track for the bonus items. The only way you can take the bonus items is if you have completed the entire jump course without placing a block or modifying the course in any way. If you finish the parkour track by placing blocks, you cannot take the bonus items.
2) I am supplying a soundtrack for the sole purpose of entertaining the player. In Canada (and I'm sure in other countries), file sharing of copyrighted music is not necesarily illegal if the uploader is not making any money in the process. All tracks are credited and I am not making any money off of the soundtrack. I am not forcing you to download any music, it is simply a recommended playlist.
Let's just leave the soundtrack legality status there; I don't want to turn this thread into a copyright debate.
I've gotten up to the desert so far.
Pretty fun map.
It's challenging and it has lore, and it has pretty good scenery.
So far though, the simplicty and overall boring-ness of the lore makes it hard to really get immersed.
It's a very simple story
-Insert evil being/cult here- has stolen -insert artifact(s) that protects the world here- from -insert protectors here-, now you must go through -insert number here- evil temples to rescue the -insert artifact(s) here- from -insert evil being/cult here-
So far I'd give it a 7/10, but the rating is probably going to change later on.
I'll keep playing it, and might livestream it later tonight.
Alright, I'll be livestreaming some of this map from now till around 4PM est (30 minutes or so), maybe a lil longer.
Feel free to join! http://livestream.com/shinymon
Ok. well, It starts FAST. Within the first area I have 64 glowstone BLOCKS. Soon after There is 20 iron BOLCKS. 180 iron ingots. wow.
Soon after, I am very overgeard, but the monsters come fast. In the desert now, just tring to find coal. T.T . Only 2 deaths so far. no records, no monument. I hope I find the monument to star an offical base...
And will I find a book anywhere?
EDIT1: Found coal:D
EDIT 2: Found the enchanting room! got a knockback II flame II sword and an unbreaking III and Fortune III pick! still no monument.
[spoiler] I've made it to the part where you have some elevating water over the void (after the large sand wall). I've got plenty of good gear and a decent amount of food. I've been playing on Easy mode which has most likely contributed to not dieing at all. I haven't found any records yet or the monument, which worries me. I've explored most everything, but have had to skip some things. It's a VERY fun map so far, so I hope I can complete it!

A lot of people have been asking me where the shrine/music discs are located. Basically, this map is broken into 3 major parts. The first is just escaping the Temple of Inception. The second is trying to build up your character in the desert so that you can battle through the Temple of Albeon and into the Albeon district. The shrine is somewhere in Albeon, so don't expect to find any music discs in the desert.

that way we will keep in track

Well, I guess that marks the start of this topics popularity.
You need to setup a multiplayer server. Try this video, it may help:
