Then?? Ive put it in my saves already, Eehhh,,,! :biggrin.gif:
There are less confusing instructions on how to download/play this map on the front page, but take the "SkyBlock1.1" from the zipped folder, and drag and drop it into the saves folder in %appdata%\roaming\.minecraft\saves. Make sure it's not a zipped file in the saves folder or it won't show up when you play minecraft (also make sure to be playing the downloadable client from minecraft.net too)
Im proud to say that this map brought me back to MC! I stopped playing after the halloween update.
I never thought i would spend so much time playing this map. Total Hrs: 20 LOL
Nice! Sorry it's taking a while for 1.2 I have been pretty busy :] Anyways.. What do you guys think I should add in 1.2? Any suggestions? ( the nether will be added)
I think that, in regards to the nether, you should make a pre-existing portal on an island very, very far away, but make some sort of subtle indication that it will be somewhere in whatever general direction you decide.
I just see a bit of an immersion problem with letting people set up portals wherever, mostly because their experiences will vary and also because you go from tiny, claustrophobic island to LARGE EXPANSE! Setting up a pre-existing, working portal will remove the need for flint and a lava pool. It will also make it easier for you to control the experience.
Finally, I think that you should keep the Minecraft 1.9 one as is, or make it the snow variant, because I really enjoy the extra wrinkles that random snowfall and freezing water blocks brings to the table and it adds that random, uncontrollable element to the game early on and enhances the gameplay.
It also gives you the option to add snow golem challenges! Lord knows that I will be making a large pen full of them >.>
I've gotta say, this is probably the most fun I've ever had in Minecraft, pretty much equal to day one. I'm generally very cautious with how I do things in Minecraft and this suits that playstyle perfectly imo. If there's one thing I'd like to see, it would be starting with/somehow acquiring a piston and some redstone. That would make it possible to make a loss-less cobblestone generator, which would remove a lot of the tedium of farming only to see a good 10+% popping off into the lava.
And a question, I've flattened basically all of my original island into a flat field of grass. I've been growing my trees there (3 at any given time), and about to start changing it up to get a good farm going. The only reason I've been holding off is that I'd like passive mobs. Currently, I'm sitting extremely comfortably. I've got plenty of wood, a chest full of enemy mob drops and a great little dark room (drowning based, with an aqueduct that feeds all the drops right to my base. I've got a 4 story house that acts as a central hub, with each addition, a 20x20 area, connected by 33 block long bridges from each side of the house. Currently the original patch of grass is one, which will become a tree farm when I get confirmation on how pointless hoping for passive mobs is, a mob darkroom, and I'm working on my farm right now.
The question is, are passive mobs really worth trying to get even? Food is essentially worthless, I've got a farm and infinite supply of rotten flesh if necessary. Feathers are useless as we have no flint to make arrows, and I get plenty of arrows from my dark room. The only real benefit I see is leather for armor, and dogs. And armor isn't all that useful here, is it? 100% of my mobs spawn in my darkroom, and that makes dogs pretty worthless as well. Any comments? Regardless, I'll probably save some grass, but I don't think I need to save very much, and the dirt could be far more productive elsewhere.
I LOVE THIS MAP! I've been playing minecraft since beta 1.5 and this is the best map I have played yet! I even went so far as to build a sky mob spawner where they spawn in a box, walk out, and die. almost have a large chest full of their items(mostly flesh and arrows). I agree with the many others, MAKE ANOTHER ISLAND OR TWO! you can have them out of sight by a few chunks, thus adding a sense of adventure! They can have chests hidden in the middle of some dirt(always good on this map) and have like an obsidian that you could use as an objective.

7~10 days playing this map, and that was all I got so far..
I only need the wool to finish the challenges, but my mobtrap does not work very well with spiders ..
I nearly died when I was recording this video :biggrin.gif:
* Endermans are spawning in my new mob trap... S**t *
I did not use any Mod (Fly Hack,TMI...)
And I'm playing Hardcore Version 1.1
Alrighty then.
Guess I should've started taking pictures sooner, since I pretty much have it completed and is just spending time being nitpicky, but hadn't really planned on posting my progress so...
The Cobblestone Generator. First time I've ever made one of these... And the last too. God it's boring to mine this stuff like this D: AND IN THIS MAP YOU BLOODY HAVE TO! DDD: Why people would ever use these in a world instead of creating another mine is beyond me.
The -completely oversized- House... Which still is a work in progress and made of wood and WOOL, so yup-- A complete ***** to make. Damned be my artistic sense. OH BTW! If I knew how to hack stuff in, or could be arsed to teach myself how to add mods like InvEdit to the game, I would totally add glass to the world. Just because it looks freakin' stupid without it.
The very temporary lake (which I plan to make somewhat huge and kidney-shaped and have green wool substitute grass and shiz).
The temporary farm thingymabob. Can't be arsed to grow everything at the moment. Especially not the reeds/sugarcanes which give me nothing useful. What. So. Ever.
I know u jelly of mah roses! God seriously. They NEED to fix the spawn rating of those! These are the results of countless (not really. Just a lot) of Bone Meal stacks.
The Mob Spawner! The biggest challenge of the lot. Mainly because I'm a dumbass.
Funny story: See the tower beneath it? Yeah? - That wasn't there to begin with. Guess who had to build that while mobs came flying down? Damn straight I did. Died 11 times too. I swear, those skeletons are the greatest quickscopers the world has ever seen. Oh yeah, and guess who hadn't thought about lighting up the roof. Yessir. Guess who griefed it. YOU GUESSED IT! ENDERMEN! Cunts >_>
The, for whatever reason, super inefficient passive mob spawn pad (If anyone knows the reason for this then BY ALL MEANS: ENLIGHTEN ME!). Think it says on MineWiki that it doesn't have to be grass for them to spawn now? From what I can see that's complete and utter bull.
The nuisance. I would seriously kill for the ability to destroy this! It's not even in the way - it just annoys me! Endlessly! God!
Brief review on the map itself:
All in all, I really like this challenge. It's really entertaining, and I've rarely used my shift key as much as I have while I was playing this map. Especially when carrying the bucket of drop-me-and-you're-screwed! Nor have I ever craved saplings so much before.
A super original map (Unlike the ones copying it oh so blatantly -__-)
However. After a while, it pretty much turns into a test of patience, more so than a test of survival skills or knowledge. You do spend around 80% of your time infront of the cobblestone generator after all. Cursing every time you see a piece jump into the lava.
The biggest know-how challenges in this, is probably the part about getting seeds for wheat, and making wool (personally keep forgetting that I can do it like intended - resulting in me making a fishing pole out of the intial strings. FML)
All in all, I did/do really like this map and idea even if I would've liked more sand and dirt so I could make decent sized farms (AND SHEARS! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE ME SOME SHEARS FOR THE OCCASIONAL SHEEP SPAWNS!! ;__:wink.gif:
I hate rating but I'd end up around 9/10 for this one.

You should add islands which are 3x3x3 and make them have only 2 resources in them.

When you join just type /newisland to get your own island.

PS- This is on 1.8, not 1.9 prerelease.
ive actually been making those on the server I play on. it uses pistons to control the lava

- GET 1 MUSIC DISC
you cant get diamonds tho
Equivalent Exchange mod :wink.gif:
Just kidding. He was probably taunting you cause you have the disc, but no way of (legitimately) playing it
the bedrock is your spawn point silly..
(It has dubstep in it :wink.gif: )
