The new 1.5 update is complete! Keep in mind I did not have anyone test this for me, so if you find any bugs please tell me so I can fix them. This map is mod free, but requires a texture pack (below). Please enjoy the map and remember to leave feedback so I can improve it!

For the first time ever, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is now in Minecraft! In this complete full-scale recreation of the overworld, players can explore the entirety of Hyrule as created in the classic SNES game! Many others have created partial replicas, but this map will be the first to feature every dungeon, cave, house, and tunnel as in the game, as well as include a customized texture pack to further replicate a true Zelda feel. The best part is, this map is DOWNLOADABLE. Players are able to retrace Link's footsteps through the overworld portion of the SNES game, or play their own way on this detailed world.
I WOULD LOVE TO POST SOME LETS PLAYS BELOW. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN POST YOUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL *note* due to the major changes from 1.5, I have taken down the old reviews and lets plays since they no longer reflect the map.

bumping. Made a little progress, but not much because I had a long work day. Tomorrow I hope to be able to work on it all day and hopefully I will finish Hyrule castle.

Thanks for the comments. I'd like to make it a playable adventure map, but I dont think there is enough to support the full game. But I will put in what I can.
I about doubled the map size today. Got Hyrule Castle done including the small passage where you find your uncle. Next I will work on Agahnim's tower and the dungeon where you rescue Zelda the first time.
Its been a while since I did some work mostly due to 12 hour workdays and a slight distraction called Amnesia, but I've done a little work on the southwestern part of the map, mostly laying the border for the desert area and filling in some sand.
This is awesome. I am looking forward to seeing the completion of this. I have one question. What Map render did you use to create the image that you have in your last post? I am working on a recreation of the FF1 Map pixel by pixel and would like to show progress using images such as the one produced in that image of yours.

minutor, you can use it to view your world layer by layer. its handy since the map is getting a bit too big for large screenshots
Completed the bottom edge of the map today and worked on the foundation for Lake Hyrule. Added the forest around Links house and started setup for the small area east of the house where the fortune teller's hut is. Its really frusterating trying to scale the terrain around the lake because its so uneven and none of it matches, but I think I'm managing ok.
Not sure if I want to finish up Lake Hyrule next, or work my way west and do the small forest grotto and kakariko village. Decisions decisions...
Lots of stuff added today, gotta love days off. lesse, well I got most of the little forest area with the flute kid in it, the area with the library and the little maze game off to the west, and the streets set for the village. It was a pain getting the terrain right, but I think it ended up looking nice. I want to make sure everything is as close to the original game as possible! Also, please feel free to support this thread by posting to keep it close to the top. I want people to be excited about this project! :biggrin.gif:

This looks AMAZING, but let me say this: Often times, someone will start a project in which the finished product will be gorgeous, almost too good to be true, but will take hours, days, weeks, or even months out of their life to complete. Most of the time they get half way, and give up
What I want to tell you is dont give up, and no matter how long it takes, stick to this until it is complete.

yeah believe me I have unfinished projects before, but I think my love for LoZ and my numerous days off should let me finish this one lol. And really, its hard to stay motivated unless people talk the project up. Yeah I'm doing this partially for myself, but when I'm done im gonna be sick of this map lol so its mostly for the others on the forum.
also, gonna be adding a poll for something fun to do while people wait
oddryan's post made me want to work a little more, so I just did a little bit in the swamp, adding the big lake, some statues in the northern section, and filling in the hill that makes up the NE border. Updated pic on OP
Not too much new today. Finished the swamp (with the exception of a small patch of dirt) and built the little building with the floodgate and switches. I place everything by hand, and I only use McEdit to fill in mountains and the forests (after hand-placing a border), so it took a while to do the statues and interior in the building. It also may or may not have taken a little time getting a floodgate that may or may not be operational to work (you'll have to wait til release to see for yourself!) The large patch of brown in the southeast part of the swamp is actually dirt, not mountain, it looks a little confusing. Also, I used bonemeal to grow the grass, so a lot of flowers poped up. Do you think i should take them out or is it fine with them in?
Aside from the swamp I filled in some of the surrounding hills.
a look at the swamp in all its grassy glory
A closeup at the entrance of the building there (you'll have to wait until release to see inside :smile.gif: )
because I forgot to include it yesterday, here's a pic of the little forest area
Whew! A lot of work with mcedit today, but I feel the lake adds a tremendous amount to the map and makes it feel more complete. Another hurdle down! (see before and after shots in the original post)
Is this gonna be used with the AdventureCraft Mod?
No, probably not. I had intended to first make sort of a "museum" map, then maybe use adventurecraft later, but at the end of august my schedule is going to change to where I am working all the time so I dont think I will have time to make an adventurecraft version
I have a problem... I was working on the map today when my laptop overheated and shut down. Normally when this happens the map disappears but I can reload it with McEdit and everything is fine.
But for some reason my computer is telling me my C drive has errors and cant read it.
And it can't correct the errors.
Meaning I've lost the map and cant find a way to reload it.
Im going to try to keep working on the issue but as it stands right now, it looks like this project has been destroyed. I dont have the heart (or the time) to start again from scratch, so if I cant find a way to get everything working again, it looks like this project will not be finished.
