Nice! That's another one of those "only if" items- SHOES OFF!
Really does look good man.
And honestly, I'm thinking about my "only if" suggestions based on what I've learned from living here in Tokyo. It's considered rude if you go into an onsen full of naked people but wear something yourself, so I was trying to figure out how to convey that cultural attitude.
Plus, if you're relaxing and dozing off in an onsen, you should technically be leaving yourself defenseless anyways.
Same deal with tatami mats- it's considered rude to be wearing shoes on them, or anywhere in the house. I learned that one the hard way...
That gives me another idea- bamboo slippers? That way, for people who make tatami mats in their house, they can have a chest with slippers by the door to put on.

Hm, to be honest, I see no reason to force people to be barefoot or bamboo slippered to walk on the tatami mat: It's a decorative feature, not a functional one, so why should I limit its use?
Well, it IS an idea but I think not really needed.
But these tatami sure look good.
Hopefully the tatami will be out with shoji and fusuma before long. I have exams today, wednesday and thursday, though, so don't expect too much before they are over.

All depends on how much you want to try to incorporate the cultural norms into the mod too. You're right, you don't need to limit its use, but you can, if you chose to. That's the beauty of being the mod creator- the ball is entirely in your court and you can take ideas and do with them as you please.
To celebrate the end of my first exam, I decided to look at implementing the Shoji and Fusuma. Before I knew it, I had a new release ready, with Fusuma, Shoji and Tatami.
So there you go, the architecture stuff has been added!
Why didn't you just do that before; you had the code...
I haven't had a second since your help - been so busy with all this exam stuff. Ah well, two to go.
Anyway, there was some extra stuff I had to add to it for the Fusuma on right click thing. Not that it took any brains to implement, but I didn't realise it was just that easy to do!
I really like the Japanese architecture, it really gives off that Japanese feeling.
The textures don't look horrible at all to me. It just needs a little more advancement.
e.g, the Fusuma can use some Japanese art in it, like splashing waves, trees and dragons.
Here's a site to show what I mean.
And the Shoji actually doesan't have a horrible texture at all, but you maybe could make it better by adding some "mood" into it, if you don't like it.
Glad you like it!
Yeah, in a perfect world, the Fusuma would look like that, but with so few pixels to work with, I can't do it - I'm better suited to higher res texturing ;).
I'm glad you like it, man. At some point I will try and improve the textures, but for now they can wait xD.
Before I start adding anything more, I'm tying up a few loose ends.
First up: The processing units.
The Drying Unit and Soaking Unit shouldn't need any 'fuel' to work.
The Netted Screen is meant to function in a particular way ...
I've decided to tackle the Netted Screen first - It works as intended now.
Anyone have any ideas as to what else the Netted Screen can be used for?
EDIT: In the next release, Netted Screens can be placed anywhere. However, they will only function if set up as usual. The way the function has also changed. Instead of accessing a GUI, you instead throw items at the netted screen, and they will transform. Mulberry Pulp Sheets, when chucked on top of a correctly placed netted screen, will output washi below the screen (you can set it up so the water runs out as an output). I have also added the ability for the screen to turn Iron Sand back to its original components, with the sand falling through the screen into the water, and the block of iron remaining in top.
Anything else that needs to be added to it?
EDIT 2: I have fixed the other three processing units (Tatara, Soaking, Drying) so that they can be placed anywhere, but will only function if correctly set up. This removes that crappy bug where you could set up the systems and then remove non-neighbouring blocks. I am mean .
Next on my list: Making the drying and soaking units work without inputs ... This could be more tricky, and may cause a shift click bug ...
EDIT 3: I got distracted. I've made it so that the Drying Unit will only function in the Desert, and only during the daytime. I won't do the same with the Soaking Unit, in my mind it doesn't matter where you do that, as long as you have ice. I will work on self powering them later. For now, I shall go do some study.
Also, I think this shows that I do not like things to be easy ;).
That's Pre-release 0.3.2 out now, guys! This sees several changes to the way things function, mainly the processing units. See the OP for details. It also adds Creative Mode support for the blocks.
I'll try to check them out soon, but I've been quite occupied by my main world!
I'm also at the point where I'm in a bit of a quandry- I would like to help bug-test for everything to report that it all appears in order from my end, but I'd also like to keep the mod as something novel so when it gets to the point you release a non-WIP version it'll be new to me. I already know I like the mod and the work you put into it a lot so I'm not worried in that regards.

Got myself a bit of a catch-22!
I understand your situation completely. However, a non-WIP version is a while off (I hear the extended Block IDs aren't till 1.4 ... That being said, who knows what mods will be able to update to 1.3?)
If you get some time to try out the functioning blocks, I'd appreciate it - especially the netted screen, as that was completely new code which I couldn't just copy from an existing MC feature.
Also, regarding the netted screen, I can set it so that it processes different blocks if set up in different ways - anyone have any ideas what it could be used for, either in its current set up, or set up in a different way?
That comes as a surprise to me, as mulberry PAPER is extremely tough stuff, strong enough for the Japanese to make lamellar armor out of it *wink wink*

Hey Raust. Yes, it's delicate wood, but it makes top notch paper ;). It was just something to discourage the use of the wood to make planks (:.
Will you add the SMP version? i would love to play this mod with some friends.
Sorry if this is already bin asked, but i just wantit
There's a big code merge coming in the next version of vMC. As a result, I'm not looking at SMP code until 1.3. That being said, I do want SMP support, so there will hopefully be SMP compatibility eventually.
hey i was wondering if theyre were any biomes that naturrally spawn sakura and mullberry trees
i also have found bonemeal to be innafective at growing the trees is this intended?

No, I don't mess with worldgen.
Yes, you need patience, young one.
Possibly, though I'm not sold on that ;).
I'll let you know what I think once I get off work and can try it out, but it looks awesome from what I've seen so far!
Cool, man, really looking forward to seeing what you think of it (:.
