If you need any help with Ideas for crafting i'll be happy to help!
Crafting recipes aren't too hard to come up with. If you mean processes for crafting (like the netted screen, stand unit etc) then great. Equally, if you can think of any additional uses for such processing blocks, let me know!
Wow what an Epic mod! I love Japanese culture and now it became MineCraft :D. Could i do a mod spotlight on youtube of this mod? I would like to do it because i wanna "Spread the word". Keep going! Its was epic at the first stage! PS: You should make a portal to "Japan" and you should add mobs like: Koi (My favorite fish(Not eating it xD).) Mabye Japanese dragons in Japan.
And last but not least: Paper walls and Paper lamps

I'm glad you like it (:.
Yeah, sure, I'd be delighted if you did a spotlight of it (:. If you do one, let me know when it's done and uploaded (:.
I've been thinking more and more about adding a dimension; however, I do not want to be tied to an API, and I don't want to use any forge files other than the extended sprite indicies as I want this to be compatible with Better Than Wolves, as that is the only mod I cannot play without.
If anyone can find a tutorial showing how to do a new dimension from scratch, then great. If not, perhaps it will be a possibility when the official mod support comes out.
As far as Paper Walls go, they are Shoji, and so will be added once I get onto them. Still trying to work out the best way to add them. Paper lamps, however, I haven't thought about. I'll add it to the list of things to consider.
Regarding koi and Japanese dragons, I will probably only add mobs if I can find a way to add a dimension as i outlined above.
<snipped out images, if you wanna see them, their in the post above anyway>
It took me quite a while to remember how to post images and use spoiler tags...
i haven't created any pieces of samurai armor as of yet.
That's a beautiful building, man! Lovely :).
That looks like sphax purebdcraft to me ... yes? I'm assuming you edited the textures yourself for my blocks, as I don't think there's support for it yet, am I right? If so, nicely done :).
Hey, I have an idea for how to make th shoji; just use the same block type as portal block but with a texture (:
I was actually planning on making the Fusuma and Shoji both be similar to doors... Though I've not looked into it at all yet. Things have been rather busy for me lately, I've not even got round to coding the tanto, wakazashi and katana yet. Actually, I think I'll go code those three now.
I'm alright, it's just laziness/revision/new relationship all taking up my time :P.
If I run into any trouble when I reach the fusuma and shoji, can I pm you?
Of course. (I'll make a prototype for you incase that eventuality occurs (: )
EDIT: just as a one off i.e. no credit given
EDIT2: Ok I have a working Shoji now (: So if you need it just ask...
One of the main reasons I'm doing this is to learn a bit of coding. Would it be alright with you if I had a look at the shoji code you've done, and then decide if I want to use all/some/none of it? Really appreciate it, man (: .
Too bad Minecrafts combat isn't something greater. Then you could add some fighting styles and all that.
That would give the mod the final touch.
(Strange though that nobody made a mod to improve or completly change the combat system of MC... Oh well.)
But the Shinai could be used at SMP for "not so deadly" training sessions. Since you can't kill a player with this.
Anyway, what else have you planned for future?
Yeah, more combat styles would be nice ... *dreams*. Yeah, I've not looked at multiplayer coding (I'm hoping coding for that will be easier when the code bases merge) but practice fighting with the shinai is an excellent use for it once this goes SMP.
I've coded the samurai swords. Once I've done the bow and arrows I'll put out an update. Then it's the three shoji fusuma and tatami for decoration. After that, who knows? Mobs? A proper way to craft the crops?
If you still search a tester then i'm willing to help
Anyone and everyone can test. Just follow the installation instructions, back up/create a new world, and let me know if you run into any problems, if there's anything that doesn't work, what needs changing and what you like. (:
Sorry all if the spelling's iffy - I'm on the iPod so it's hard to type!
I have an idea of how you could create shoji. Sticks is X and Mulberry sheet is Y: XXX
XYX
XXX
Then u have created a paper panel. 4 paper panels with a torch in the middle could become a paper latern.
4 paper panels could create a paper wall. 2 paper walls on top of eachother could create a shoji door.
Sound like a good idea?

@Eriottosan don't we all mod for coding experience?? Sure you can see the code although I'm tellin you now it's not complex and you'll kick yourself for the simplicity of it
EDIT: PM me your Skype ai that I can talk to you about and send you the code please
Haha yeah, I suppose we all do! Haha, well I haven't looked into it that much, I'm sure there probably is a non-complex way to do it, and it sounds like you've found it!
Sent you a PM, though I don't have Skype ... (Hrm ...)
Samurai sword: I bet you've already thought of the sword but I have a cool/funny function to include. Instead of blocking with it you raise it up and stab yourself. This could be used as just a "haha" type function or you could make it include benefits. maybe when you stab yourself you're reduced to 1 half heart but gain super bonuses for as long as you remain in that state.
I would even say that you implement some kind of "honor" system but that would be a but much. The idea could be that you can only reagin honor by staying yourself (i'm forgetting the correct term sepuku?) or you could include a knife that you have to use to stab yourself with to get honor.
meh i believe some Japanese warriors performed harakiri/sepuku if they lose wars etc (defending honor)...but yeah i have no knowledge of history so don't quote me.

That actually ties in perfectly with what I was coding to differentiate between the three samurai swords!
Katana is just your regular, all purpose sword. It is more powerful than Diamond.
Wakizashi is a little weaker than Diamond swords ... But, if your enemy has less than a quarter health remaining, it inflict a potion effect on them (I have not decided what yet, possibly just a harm one (or heal if undead)).
Tanto is a little weaker still. But if you have low health (2 hearts, maybe?) then it will deal extra damage and/or potion effects. And as of two seconds ago (thanks to your suggestion and my quick look at the code) it will not block on right click (after all, it's a short sword!) but instead will harm you for half a heart.
Thoughts?
Granted it's not really a traditional idea of seppuku, but it'll do for Minecraft ;).

Sheesh I just read up on supuku! Japanese people must've felt so much! To have such strong opinions and bravery is truly unbelievable and admirable!
I think the main reason they did it was to avoid themselves being caught and tortured so they wouldn't give up information. Though I think it was also used as severe punishment ...
I already have an idea in mind for crafting Shoji - crafting recipes are the easy bit .
Cool, let me know when it's done (:.
Yeah ill mabye get it when after the vacation because im spending money right now. example: My mom was done with exam and i was going to suprise her. and suchYou should see in Japanese history guys. Japanese guys thought there were a soul in the katana. Only rich men could afford a katana. Then i think u need some kind of soul in it(Soul sand or some prosecced sould sand?).You should make a tonfa too and some tofu. Sashimi and rice could create sushi xD(But then u need sushi sauce and seaweed

Don't worry, take your time, do it when you can (:.
Hrm, I've never heard, seen or read anything about Katanas having souls in them - if you can find some information and link me, I'll consider involving soul sand in the creation of it.
Tonfa aren't Japanese, are they?
As far as food items go, I don't really want to add food, there's enough already. The rice I've added because I needed rice stalks for making Tamahagane, and for tatami when I get round to it. Sashimi was just "why not?". But I don't want to add food just for the sake of it.
EDIT: First person to see the pun gets a green arrow ;).

Shuriken. I hope to eventually add some, but it won't be for a while yet!
