Yes you are able to make blueprints!
In thuamcraft2 (I'm always referring other mods =P) they have this research table thing.
U place an artifact on it, it gets researched, then u get a fragment of knowledge.
Research that, u get a theory for an item/block.
Research that 5 times, you get a discovery for an item/block.
Right click while holding, shows the GUI it's crafted in, what it uses, a small description and a message appears saying you can now craft such and such.
The important part there is the discovery OR you could make some kind of research table (though I kinda don't like them)
Oh! I've also made a zombie cow skin. =P
For my basic texturing skills, I like these skins...
I'll try and get pics because some of them look alien-y.
Maybe once you discover every weapon/armor in every tier, a foreigner could appear in front of you or something and he could give you the technology to get back to the space station. that way, once you have mastered the otherworld, you can go back to regular minecraft and use your epic gear there.

For lack of a better signature, I will say this: Mcdonald's Shamrock Shakes are amazing.
NOTE: All graphics are concepts only. These are not actual in-game models. They were modeled for conceptual development for the Otherworld mod. If you take these graphics without credit, you are a sore loser.
I'll be coming out more with the other kinds of metals in Otherworld. Right now I've only made concepts for iron, carbon, glowing phosphate, and gallium salt because they are required for machinecrafting.

....Wow....
i am not going to suggest textures anymore...
Ideas are great.
All im good for in minecraft is remembering recipes and doing magic with Redstone.
I once made a really hard to open code/time door.
Timed to a tick.
I've also recently made a giant mob arena...
So many mobs appear out of the floor...
OO! idea!
theres some kind of plant (Or creature) that when you get close to it, it turns deadly.
AKA. "Oh look a plant." *walks closer* "OMG. it moved?" *moves closer out of curiosity* "ARRRGHH! OMG! ARRGGHH!!" *Plant turns into some extremely lethal monster* *Player was Eaten Alive*
Theres another kind of plant (Or creature) that when you get close to it the plant starts spreading rapidly towards you (Cloning kinda) And when you touch it, it hurts you kinda like cactus. If you get further enough away from it the plant de-spreads to the single plant. As if it had never spread at all.
Yet another Plant (Green thumb! XD) It looks like grass (Alien grass block). it spawns in groups, and when u get to near the center of it it changes from grass to a lot of little mouths and you start sinking into it. Taking damage as you do. (Deltora Quest Reference! XD)
Hey! new acheivement idea!

Christianity in a nutshell: We have all sinned, so we deserve eternity in hell. But God (God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Spirit) loved us so much he sent His Son to die for us, to take the punishment meant for us. All we need to do is accept it, and we have heaven headed our way.
How about different enemies have discoverable weaknesses. for example: lets say you find an enemy, then you kill it and take its item drops to a machine and it will analyze the enemy's DNA. once it analyzes its DNA enough, it give you a page with all of its information. it could say that it is a carbon based life form and a certain type of weapon would be more effective against it.

That's a good idea. How about a syringe that takes a blood sample of the mob when you right click the mob with it, then analyze that in the analyzer.

yeah, maybe a syringe of blood would let the analyzer machine immediately analyze the mob, which would be more efficient than having to kill the mob multiple times to get multiple drops

well you would still have to kill the mob becuase i dont think they will let you stab a needle into them...
maybe just as they're dying (falling over and red) you use the syringe?
An my idea for the plant that spreads could be that vines (Alien vines of course!) crawl along the ground towards you?
The plants on this planet hate you! XD
maybe tier 2 and higher weapons can have a special type of gem, which is made with a new ore (the yellow crystal is possible as well) and placed in an infuser. the infuser infuses the gem with a plant or ore to give it certain bonuses and perks. here are some ideas:
poison: self explanatory
fire: kinda like fire aspect
paralysis: it makes the movement of the target very erractic and causes them to miss with their attack once every 5 attacks.
slow: self explanatory
drain: will heal the user with its attacks, though it only works with melee weapons.
death: it triples the damage caused by attacks, it does however double the energy required for each attack.
oh crap I forgot that one! I was going to make a block that upgrades or fits your weapons with upgrades that give them attributes. I'll have to make it tomorrow.
i am not going to suggest textures anymore...

I like the plant idea-I'm not sure how they will animate. I had some ideas for hostile plants which I plan to model and conceptualize when I begin making mobs. For example, there are slug-like plants that hang from overhangs or ceilings and they swing about and attack you if you get close. They can do massive damage with their acidic coating.
Another plant idea I had was these small flat flowers that explode if you step on them.
I like the plant-morpher idea. I'll be coming up with some concepts for that soon.
maybe a plant mob that looks like either a red or a green bulb that sticks out of the ground (red does more damage and green has higher health) that when aproached jumps out of the ground and spits acid or claws at you, depending on the distance from you. it also looks like a bipedal vine monster that looks like it bends over a little, the vines are always green though the bulb (its head) can be either color.
Yea, I had an idea for a plant creature that spits needles or some acidic projectile at you.
That's a cool idea. I had forgotten to make the machine, but I had planned a machine that upgrades your weapons to have attributes like flamethrower, paralyzation, poison, etc that could be effective against certain mobs.
yeah, maybe a syringe of blood would let the analyzer machine immediately analyze the mob, which would be more efficient than having to kill the mob multiple times to get multiple drops
Yea, the syringe will definitely be "analyzable" on the analyzer.
well you would still have to kill the mob becuase i dont think they will let you stab a needle into them...
maybe just as they're dying (falling over and red) you use the syringe?
An my idea for the plant that spreads could be that vines (Alien vines of course!) crawl along the ground towards you?

Well, I think the best way to go about acquiring blood, is to start attacking the mob with the syringe first. Once you attack with the syringe, you fill it with mob blood. Or perhaps you have to paralyze the mob first, then attack it with the syringe.
The mobs are already trying to eat you, I don't think they'll become more aggravated when you fight back.
How about a telepathic link to the plants on the Earth of our dimension that tell the alien plants how bad humans are?

A guardian sphere!!??
What game are you talking about!!??
Could make a dowsing machine.
You place it somewhere (with generator nearby) and put some form of liquid inside it.
It starts "scanning" the area and if that liquid is within 30 blocks of it, it gives accurate measurements.
If that liquid is within 75 blocks it gives a distance rounded to closest 10.
If that liquid is within 150 blocks it says liquid located.
If that liquid is over 150 blocks away, it says out of reach.
It only scans beneath it in a 3x3 square with it in the center.
instead of coal, there could be phosphorus. it would give every light you make a green or orange glow which would make the world feel even more alien. it would also allow you to make more modern lights instead of having to use old-fashioned coal.

You know how awhile ago someone mentioned acid/stomach biome?
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! (as in making a design not coding)
Just a few things...
I have a feeling it's not an entity?
Dimensions? 7x7x25 would be good. 5x5x20 inside.
Jumping puzzle? Or dungeon?
Monster spawners? They could spawn a "belly worm" that is immune to the acid?
Loot? I'm guessing either a blueprint, random stuff or a dead adventurer.
Textures? Someone give me textures or I'll use cheesy textures for my screenshots. =P (I'll pretend water is acid for meantime)
I dunno about the boss mobs. This mod is focused on the whole world, and adding multiple boss mobs would make it seem like a dungeon mod. And, uh, guardian sphere? This is a game made of blocks, IT HAS NO SPHERES! Sorry for the rage...
Phosphorous is a great idea, phosphorous on a stick makes way more sense than coal.
The dowsing (is that a typo) machine may be a good idea if liquids are that valuable, but if we add more than one and keep the water/lava type generation, liquids will be way too common.
I like the jumping puzzle idea for the stomach. Spawners, maybe not. Loot, yes.

Alright, so I've figured out what the analysis page can say when the mob is analyzed.
Life Basis: Carbon/Silicon
Blood: Acidic/Basic/None
Neural System: Simple/Complex
Bones: Yes/No
Sight: Good/bad
Item Drops: (A list of the mob's drops goes here.)
That's all I have for now, I might think of more later.
So far all I have for weaknesses is:
Poison is more effective on basic blood, normally effective on acidic blood, and does nothing on a creature with no blood
Paralysis is more effective on creatures with a complex neural system
Slow is more effective on mobs with bones
Metal weapons are more effective on boneless mobs
Fire is more effective on carbon based mobs
I hope you like the suggestions.
this has been on my mind for a while and i doubt i'm the only one: boss mobs!
in the center of every biome there'll be a boss or mini-boss mob, these are of course way stronger than normal mobs and have a health bar like the enderdragon. some idea for boss mobs are:
a mob which looks like a big purple flower at first, but after approaching it it jumps out of the ground and hammers in on you with tentacle like vines. it can also shoot acid, so it's basicly a stronger and bigger version of the mob i suggested earlier, though it looks completely different.
a guardian sphere is a boss found in ruins (the ruins is the only biome/structure with multiple possible bosses). it is a big cube with holes in the sides which are best dealt with by shooting. everytime he's hit a small bipedal mob appears that dashes into you, damaging you and killing itself in the procces.
a giant ape monster that jumps around, dashes and punches at you, kind of overused but who cares.
I like the idea of boss mobs, but I'm not sure how this will work out. The mod already is a whole different dimension, with all kinds of mobs, an extensive amount of blocks, quests, and new functions. Adding bosses might increase the CPU ?(no idea, I'm no programmer) but I've been following the Twilight Forest mod and Benimatic has been having issues with FPS and CPU. I think if anything, we build the dimension first, and later on, if possible, add bosses.
In the meantime, there will be really strong mobs that will be challenging with advanced weaponry.

I think a dowsing machine will make it too easy to find liquids. Liquids will be important since you will be required to make chemical mixtures for certain craft recipes. There will be an item that harvests liquids better than the metal bucket. For example, a capsule that can hold up to 3 blocks of water. You cannot hold different liquids in the same capsule though.
instead of coal, there could be phosphorus. it would give every light you make a green or orange glow which would make the world feel even more alien. it would also allow you to make more modern lights instead of having to use old-fashioned coal.
Phosphorus definitely makes more sense than coal. There will be phosphorus, but you won't find it immediately. There are other methods of achieving light. Since there are fluorescent trees and plants, you can craft temporary flourescent torches. Eventually, they dim down, but do not die out.

Cool I like this. I'll make a GUI sometime with this.
Love these ideas i whould love to help in modding this when 1.3 is released i just started modding yesterday (with some expirience in Webdesign wich has some things in common) i just released my first mod so ill see what i can do to help on this mod
Cool, when 1.3 comes out, I'll be making application forms to start the team.
FPS is Frames Per Second, how many times in a second the screen changes. If it's low, like say 5 FPS, it'll look like a fast moving slideshow, not a video game. The CPU is the Central Proccessing Unit. It does all the actual computing in a computer, and if you have a good CPU, your computer will run faster. The CPU's speed generally doesn't change, but the amount of things programs need it to proccess does, which is why, for instance, Minecraft gets laggy for a second when you start another program. I know these things because programming is about the only thing I can't do on a computer, but hopefully that will soon change.
Does the FPS decrease if there are too many different kinds of mobs? Or if there are too many entities on the map?
Either way, I envision Otherworld having many different kinds of mobs from harmless to extremely powerful but not an exceeding number of entities on the map.
