Although a mute button for annoying players is essential; no-one wants to hear Justin Bieber being blasted at them. I'm pretty sure that's against the Geneva convention in some way. The radio station is great; you should be able to encrypt signals so that the enemy cant understand what you say/type, and their should be a hacking mech or block that tries to crack the connection but requires fuel, i.e coal for a tier 1 hacker and maybe gold for a tier 2/3.
Or for said person to be very close to the signal sourse with hacking equipment of some sort, but yea I get your ideas

To be honest, I really don't think the next update will kill off the development of single-player mods (at least, not long), seeing how Mojang encourages the modding community and all... I'm actually looking forward to the modding API, since it may make the mod creation process much easier. Not to mention that playing around with base classes allows anything to happen...

Sorry I haven't been on much. I finally got some internet, so I'm going to try to get the models finalized (read: created in the first place). Not to mention second shift at the factory isn't helping the development any. If anyone is good with textures or model animation, I'll send the model code and texture layout.
I'm going to base the weaponry on the bow system, to make coding easier (and out sooner). Don't worry, there won't (shouldn't) be a way to fire battlemech weapons outside a battlemech, if I can code it correctly.
As for the radios, I was thinking about letting players drop a music disk player into a systems slot, allowing you to play vanilla music disks, or either the Pyre Light or 1337 MechCommander mix disks (which will come, if not in alpha.) If you want some other music to listen to while out p0wning creepers, just do what I do: turn in-game music to 0, then run iTunes or whatever alongside Minecraft.
And finally: I think my spam protection works best: if you ask for the release date from here on out, I'll just ignore you.

anyway, just a factory fresh skin ought to work. I'd say stick with a general army olive or tan, or maybe just the Davion Guards scheme (which is kinda this color. Look it up on google.) I'll do the best I can to tell you what's what on the layout.

Im going to look back and forth from sarna's pictures of mechs for my reference, But Lol the easier you make it on me to guess whats what the faster I can work in general, take a look at my pixel art on deviantart and Lol you can tell I don't mind tedious things as long as the end result is worth it

A MW2/MW3 style, where you can put anything anywhere, MW4 where you have very VERY few hardpoints, or MWO where you have a lot of slots, but still hardpoints?

So far he hasn't talked about precisely how he is going to let us set up our mechs aside from the fact that there will be a block that you use to make the mech and equip the weapons in question.. Similar to flans crafting table for planes and tanks and the auto crafting similar to IC and BC
