There are both, and they work differently.
Single-seat vehicles are built with modular parts, which can be mixed and matched to get different stats and roles. For instance, replace the personnel module on an escape pod with a freight container, and it becomes a shipping pod. Replace the wings on a fighter with tank treads and it becomes a land tank (which in turn will let you support heavier modules in-atmosphere), and so on.
Larger ships are custom built block by block, and require the presence of certain subsystems, like power and controls, which will vary in sophistication based on size and class. We have a tentative list of what subsystems there will be somewhere on the fc-mod forum, but the list is likely to change as we start adding things. The technique for handling custom ships is closer to Physics Craft than the Zeppelin mod, but should scale better than either.
So my larger ships can theoretically be a ship from a series (i.e. A Ship from a movie like a Star Trek and or I heard someone say this earlier Halo)? Also would this mod alter world height because of course many ships are too large to fit in the current height of the world.

Yes, absolutely. You can build ships however you want, as long as you can attach engines and life support and stuff. Check out the ships section of our forum; a number of people have built recreations of famous ships. I'm personally a fan of Imperial warships and I intend to fly them.
The Minecraft world as you know it has little to do with Futurecraft. You will be on a planet. If you go up, you will be in space, because that is what happens when you are on a planet and then you go up. World height won't be a thing.
For planets, the side-to-side width may end up being limited to 8192m to ensure that the whole thing will be visible.
As of yet, there is no engine-enforced size limit for ships, but it will depend how well the geometry compression works on irregular objects. I am thinking ~1km in length is probably going to be the high end. Space stations might be able to be bigger, especially if they aren't by a planet.
Do you guys ever think that the mod is overabitious and unreachable? Not saying that I think that but if it were ever to be abandoned the many who made such outstanding ships may never be able to take them to flight.
Edit: what of course is the current forum. The .tk is a 404 not found, http://futurecraft.forumotion.com/ sais a new one is up. So what is the most recent? Is it fc.mod?

It has crossed my mind, yes.
Still, the theory is pretty much worked out and solid. It is more a problem now of finding time to work on it, rather than one of feasibility.

well the advantage of going way over your head is that there is enough stuff to cut out , probably will be useful especially considering ppl on the forum go way over what could be called over your head , you know how it goes - "Hey there are planets ? Let's add vehicles so we can get around em faster" "Well let's add tank to blow em up " "Let's add bases" etc etc. Until they finally realize they just made a massive scale planetary combat big enough to host every single person to ever read this thread in. Yea on the paper it is all nice and good but when it comes to development eventually more than 50% of all ideas will be cut out, priorities.
Well thanks for that, also if you didn't get the :Edit:, what is the current forum? The .tk forum is a 404 not found and Futurecraft.Forumotion says there is a new one.

May the Force be with you. Unless you're a troll, in which case, may the farce be with you.
In all seriousness I think just due to how long itll take to mine enough materials to get your ship space-worthy some materials such as stone should be passed through an 'Extractor' To extract small bits of ore from stone,
Say processing thirty blocks of stone would give approx:
Ten Iron bars, Five Redstone. Five Gold bars, One diamond (With any added ores you intend to add)
Or just give a random number generator to choose just what you get per stone or something, just to make it less annoying to get started..
A Semi-complex bit of equipment similar to a 3d printer to be used in order to construct things so that you only need to take your time laying out your wires computers engines and whatnot.. otherwise you will spend all your time crafting parts rather than having fun building things~

Are you sure you didn't leave out a couple of zeros there or something? That's a ridiculous amount of stuff to get from thirty blocks of stone. Honestly, that would be a pretty crazy amount to get from three hundred blocks of stone.

I was more meaning you get random amounts of all of the above, those were just rough chances of what you could get More like you get a % of an ore per block thats random and when you have 100% of an ore you get an ingot or a dust or whathaveyou
I have a question. What will move spaceships? Will it be engines or what? If I'm building a giant deathstar I don't want engines sticking out the side.....wait how does the deathstar move? Though I don't want it to be some dumb block that moves the spaceship when you turn it on. How is that going to work?

Engines. The Death Star has engines too, but they're so small you can't see them. Note, though, that 'so small' is extremely relative. The engines are massive by any reasonable scale, but the first Death Star was 160 kilometers across, so they're tiny by comparison.

I guess you're right, but wasn't the death star originaly without propulsion, and towed with tractor beams?

i meant like easter egg heavily resourced planet, but I guess earp drive may throw a monkey wrench into it
