Poll: The name of that mod should be different from Ships&Boats and Ph
We have agreed with Eagle_Orion, creator of PhysicsCraft, and Shereis, to join forces to make a mod featuring physics from PhysicsCraft and also the rendering and block interaction facilities of Ships&Boats.
1. Find ocean
2. Build desired ship above water (deck should be 2 blocks above the surface of the water)
3. When done, build a rectangle around it out of SHipyard blocks, only dont make a full rectangle. DOnt build the part infront of the ship.
4. Place the Seat on the ship, facing the front of the ship
5. smash a champagne bottle on your ship. CHampagne bottles are made by 1 sugar on top of a glass bottle.
I've currently been playing with the mod and so far it has been a game changer for me and will be using it from now on!
I had a good adventure trying to get all the materials to make aether pumps and now its done it feels like a great achievement (whereas in zeppelin that i was using before all i had to do was find two iron ingots ). The pumps add an extra dimension also; I've got them in an engine room. I also really like the ship bobbing effect.
My ship is around 400 blocks and although I don't seem to be getting lag, it is a bit juttery walking around on it. Also you sometimes clip through the walls (although i imagine this is an issue that is already reported).
Congrats on making such a fine mod, you have a new fan!
mind sharing some screenshots of your boat im looking for ideas on how i will make my overal aesthetics on mine

Yep, wall collision is still glitchy. It has been one of the hardest parts to fix.Nice to know there are so many people interested in the mod
Sirentopy, great work so far. Will we be seeing more Naval Artillery and such in future updates, or RS powered Canons? Either way, i know your doing a great job.

Next release I will focus in making a "pivot block", a block that will let rotate cannons. New types of cannons will be in later releases.
So I downloaded and tested this mod yesterday and I have to say I really like this mod. Since I build ships pretty often this mod is perfect for me. First tested it on a few small boats and a bigger one, and yesterday I decided to build another ship design just because of the cool cannons in this mod

So that's what I came up with. At first I was excited of this because you're able to make ships much bigger than with the Zeppelin mod.
But when I tried it on one of my bigger ships (Has somewhere between 5 - 6k blocks) it lagged as hell, and it was kind of impossible to properly steer the ship. Even though I know it'll probably lagg as hell, I'm going to try the ship from the pics above later today. Do you think there is any possibillity to reduce lagg on huge ships like these?
Besides the lagg, there are just 2 other minor issues. One is the seat to steer the ship. I think it's a nice idea, but sometimes the vision I have from the seat is pretty bad, so I can't really see what's ahead of me when I'm steering. Maybe a possibillity to 'zoom out' while you're in the seat would solve the problem?
And second, it would be really usefull if you're able to ignite those cannons with redstone. As you can see on the pics above the ship has quite some broadside cannons, but shooting them would require me to get out of the seat, walk down to the cannons and ignite each cannon with flint and steel, one by one. If I was just able to place levers/buttons near the seat I'd be able to shoot them all at once.
But remember, those are just oppinions I just read you were planning new types of cannons in later releases, so maybe the second one has yet to come? Anyways I just want to say this is a really great and usefull mod, besides the major lagg with huge ships. Looking forward to the next updates and I hope my oppinions are of any use Diamonds for you Sir!
I might be able to do some modeling, but sadly it will be harder. I was able to get blender, but it may be while before i make something usable. First thing I'll try to do is a Naval Deck gun with 2 barrels.

Performance has always been an issue. If you want big ships, you need a fast machine
However, I know some of the reasons for the lag and I expect to fix them in the future, but it will take some time.
Regarding vision, why not using the third-person view? (hitting F5 key) Anyway, real ships are hard to steer precisely because one had limited vision.
Hey Toddie. If you are not busy, I would have another assignment for you, please. I'm working on the redstone cannon trigger and need a model for it. I don't know what shape should it have. I leave it for your imagination. Just make sure it fits in one block, and one end should be thinner and point exactly at the middle of the block, so it can seamlessly connect with the back of the cannon.
Hm, I can't seem to figure it out.
If your client failed to load press Paste Error and show that link to #Risucraft on esper.net
i am using mod loader, too many items, armor stand, forge, and your mod, ships and boats.
(cool idea: make a cannon that you can control and fires "artillery shells". it is 3x3 and is like those naval guns.)
just a cool idea

Alternatively, you can try:
- Reinstalling Minecraft
- Use Magic Launcher to load all of your mods. ML has a screen that shows all of the errors. You can paste in this forum the output of that screen.

Well I've sent the map to a friend of mine and let him test it, he recently bought a new pretty fast pc, but he also had some really bad lag. So I guess ships with more than 5k blocks will be really laggy anyways.
About the vision, I forgot to mention that I was already using the third-person view while steering. It does make your vision better, but it's still hard to steer sometimes.
And uhm yeah, those redstone cannons, I read your TODO-list after I posted my previous post Didn't check it before.
Oh and btw, while I was steering one of those bigger ships (with 5k blocks) it seemed like the ship moved really fast, probably just too fast for it's size. I'm not sure what actually determines the speed, or maybe it just seemed to move really fast because of the bad lagging?
For Ships and Boats v0.10, we'll be getting simple ship physics, sails, rudders, engines, "steam ships", ship pivots, anchors, propellers, redstone-powered cannons, improved ship damage calculations, achievements, and automatically updated ship sizes after block placement?
Expanding boundaries since 2011.
Yep, although if I found one of those features may be taking to long to implement, I would move it to 0.11
Where does the progress stand at present?
Expanding boundaries since 2011.
Nothing yet done. Please do not ask about ETA, since I don't want to feel pressure
Nope. As I said in a previous post I don't want to code the ships twice
