I'll just leave this here, (I wrote this a couple nights ago)
Date of documents origin in flux (Although computers are not sensitive enough to detect the difference)
Power Redstone from a distance
Disable power on redstone
Open doors or close doors (So You can bypass even the most complex door lock and then close it behind you)
Range of basic effects (powering redstone/devices normally powerd by said dust) 10 Meters.
Adv. Effects (Opening doors and toggling mechanical devcices[levers buttons pressure pads buttons and sonic detection blocks{They detect the activation OR precense depending on the quality}]) and Disabling creeper explosions as well as TNT blocks
Effects on Mechanical and electronic Mobs are Only possible at VERY close range (1-3 blocks) daleks are special in that they can ONLY be damaged by a sonic if they are touched by the player
Effects of control, alt, and e key TBD
If applying sonic stimulation to redstone for to long of time with out proper technique (pressing control?) the redstone will will "pop off" do to sonic vibrations slowly dislodging the redstone by keeping a constant frequency
this does NOT work on hatches do to the complete lack of locks and metal!
It doesn't kill, doesn't injure, doesn't maim, unless you count mostly mechanical/electronic mobs (i.e. Daleks and cyber men)
It can activate creeper timers if you figure out the red setting (more on that later) although you can detonate Tnt by using the right combo of buttons (ctrl, alt, or e)
The red setting is unlocked if you a or 1: get struck by lightning while using it for something or other,
2 or b: Activate it by overcharging it in the tardis during a temporal emergency evacuation (not permanent see 3 or C, Not sure about this),
C or 3: activate it by pure chance (Not permanant, Lasts 2 minecraft weeks with little use, one week with moderate use or up to 3 days durring prolific use) 1/1963 chance each use,
4 or D (or maybe those little i.v. brackets): this increases the range by upto 10 blocks(aswell as being able to activate redstone thru one block) And giving the ability to disable Sonic detectors,

There is a god Item that cannot be made or activated (unlike the red screwdriver which caan be charged for one ingame minute per 64 redstone fed into it[Unsure of this aswell]) It is known as the laser screwdriver
it is better in every way possible it can one shot any enemy (ages them to death) it can activate any device as long as you aim it true (even thru wall though this is HARD to aim)
You can also agitate obsidian with the red mode enabled this will (if possible) cut the time to destroy down by upto half, (not sure about this) this can also be used on many other hard blocks
Another Possiblity for additional complexity/finesse there could be "damper settings" that have unexpected results with the red setting do too inconpatability

I like the 10 block limit, its very reasonable.
I don't know about the whole controls for the sonic screwdriver. I know i wanted something like it, but I don't know how it will feel in game... we can work with that.

activate redstone through a block? You would have to know where it is plus if it is effecting something you can see, you could just activate i directly.

I'm not to sure that I like the idea of mining like that. Then again maybe if its consequences were big enough...

Currently From what I've seen about the Screwdriver is that (usually)it needs recharged more than repaired, (Total who nerd) so maybe it could have regenerative health...
The emergency evacuation I referred to was if something has gone wrong Like landing in a portal to the nether (or flying through one) which would be like heading to an Alternate dimension like when The Doctor, Rose, and mickey did, and the TARDIS (NEARLY) died because it was cut off from the proper energy (or was it radiation?) that allowed it to function save a spark of energy.
The emergency temporal evacuation is MY idea so the player is not stranded in the nether but dumped outside where they need to build a portal build a portal to reach it(And then expend a total of 9 & a half hearts over the course of 12 minecraftian hours) and re-activate it, lest they be stranded.
So in other words, you'd be dumped in a unfamiliar place & time with only what you have on you at the time, the sonic over-charging is to give you a "Leg-Up" so to speak IF you don't have many resources on you at the time.
And the red-setting is not going to break blocks when applied it will make them QUICKER to break not just disintegrate them(This is mostly meant for SMP).
(Also what did you think of the sonic detection device? [I might TRY to work on something similar for the TARDIS {Though that wouldn't DO much except warn you the doctor's here...}])

this mod is a great idea. and for the tardis, it could be a 10x2x2 structure. (8x2x2 w/ light thing at the top).
and for the regeneration part of it, you could do it as having you start out as the 1st doctor, and each time you die, you go down to the next doctor. until the 11th doctor... which is the current doctor.. and for the sonic screw driver, the distance it can travel should be the regular minecraft tool/hand distance. due to the fact coding that would be easier.

You do realize that infant you are two blocks tall right? Now imagine the doctor as two blocks tall. The tardis behind him in that picture would not be 8 blocks tall.
Anyway, I thought of a brilliant (or, at least, I think so) feature for this mod idea. You could make Sonic Screwdriver Sensors (SSS's). They detect when a sonic screwdriver has been used within a 4 block radius in any direction, and you could use them to activate redstone circuitry; using a switch is too obvious, it practically screams "USE ME TO OPEN THIS DOOR" in your face, whereas if you make a circuit with an SSS, no one will know how to work it, unless you told them or they have their own sonic screwdriver. This would make the sonic screwdriver actually act like a sonic screwdriver.
It would be made something like this:
= any static block (for disguise) = redstone = maybe a new type of sensor ore? = glass
I hope you like this idea, feel free to expand and improve on it if you want.
