Is making a 1.3.1 mod any different from making a 1.2.5 mod?

I want to get into modding, and I was wondering if making a mod for 1.3.1 is any different from making one for 1.2.5? And, how is it different?

Wrong section, and hell yes, there a re about 60 different instances of the world, the player, and to do something as simple as giving a player an item you have to try everyone of the freaking instances... it's so annoying... and maybe im over doing it... its more like 5... but still, extremely annoying

Well obviously it is and its in the right section 1.3 is has diffrent files and classes to 1.2.5 your going to have to basicly restart the mod every update

To make the basic mod, no. Things aren't TOO different.

To add the proper support for SMP, it's different.
