Hello Everyone,
I'm rather stumped on what to make, so I thought I would ask the audience instead. I'm open minded, but I still have a few rules for requests:
1. Please don't ask for an addon to another mod unless you are positive it either has an api or is open source
2. Don't ask to make a mod revolving around a show, and don't ask for a mod of a game without elaborating upon what the game is
3. Elaborate. If your idea is good, I'm gonna want to know a lot about it.
Are you looking to make relatively minor but useful tweaks/additions, or are you more interested in starting a larger-scale project? Also, if you had to choose, would you rather do code or textures?
Semi-realistic economy simulation in Minecraft; I call it CapitalistCraft(tm)
Basically there's a new mob type, call them people(for lack of a better name) People look just like you, but with a different texture depending on their chosen job. People also require food like you and have the ability to hold Money.
To start harnessing the people under the yoke of oppression, simply build a coin press and a Strongbox. The coin press turns one gold bar into 20 coins, and the strongbox holds 500 coins. Note that these coins are not items, rather they are a variable tied to the player, other people, and strongboxes. To put the coins to use, find a person and right click on him. This brings up the Government Contract GUI, which allows you to select various jobs. More on this later. As the worker does his job, he will be paid daily from your strongbox, and any money he makes at his job will go into your strongbox.
As this worker starts to make more money, the other wandering people will also take notice and begin choosing jobs of their own. Note that these are not Government Contracts, these people do the job for themselves. Not that this is bad for you. Your Contract workers will go out and spend money on things(mostly food), which will then go into the coffers of the people. But food isn't the only thing people buy: they also want knicknacks, tool upgrades, and even houses(which builders build). Also, they must buy any raw materials from another person.
To prevent everyone from starving to death, right clicking on someone with food will give it to them, satisfying their hunger and preventing their death.
Here's a simple list of jobs:
Miner: Mines things, smelts ores and sells them.
Woodman: Cuts down trees, turns them into planks, and sells them.
Farmer: Farms wheat only for now, sells it
Baker: Bakes bread and sells it
Mint Worker: Operates Coin Presses, only available thru Government contract
Woodworker: Makes woodcrafts(workbenches, chests, wooden tools) and sells them. One of two types of builder(builds wooden structures)
Stoneworker: Makes stone tools and furnaces and sells them, the other type of builder(builds stone structures)
Blacksmith: Makes metal tools, repairs tools.
If there's anything unclear(and I'm sure there is) feel free to ask for elaboration
I just thought of a really simple mod. Now, I know that not many people would be able to use it, but hear me out. I play on a flatcore server, and people have put together maps of all the players bases and loot structures. Would it be possible to make a mod where you press a key, and those maps come up in game? I know I wouldn't be able to do it, but the concept seems very simple and do-able. Thing is, the maps might change, but that wouldn't have to be so hard either...maybe? I don't know. It could be client side, pressing the key loads the webpage (basically the map) in your game, without having to leave the game. Since those webpages would be updated, there wouldn't have to be any manually updating of the coords. You can find all the map links on here: http://www.reddit.com/r/corenet/comments/1u7a22/overworld_player_base_map/

That was the recipe. This item is useless and is only used in crafting

They are tameable mobs that are hostile before you tame them.
They have green skin and ragged, ripped red clothes before tamed.
They have gray skin and nice looking, clean blue clothes when tamed.
You give them Items, and they carry it around and place it for you where you tell them to
with an item called the "Placer".
You use the Placer by right clicking the block you want to move and then right click where you want it to
be placed, then you right click the MiliManiac that you want to move it.
The Placer is crafted with 4 light blue wool in the shape of a hoe.
You tame the MiliManiacs by using 1-3 Raw Porkchops.
They have an 80% spawn rate in all biomes but Extreme Hills
The spawn egg will be Red with Green Spots.
PM me when it's finished
P.S: Can I make a forum for this? PM me the answer with the mod link.
Could you make a mod or program for minecraft that would dump all possible dungeon loot items to a text file for easy viewing? I need to be able to see all of the possible loot for any dungeon with the chances of them spawning. Thanks! Tell me what you think
Ok now i know pretty much everyone out there has heard of what Terraria is and i love playing Terraria except that the world is to small and its in 2D what i would like would involve a ton of work and i have no idea how to do it but maybe a mod that adds in the items from Terraria into minecraft and modifies the inventory so you can equip things other than armor to give yourself different attributes, one such item is the moonshell that turns you into a werewolf at night and a mermaid when you enter the water giving you water breathing. i know how difficult this sounds as it would add in a lot of weapons, a lot of armor, alot of vanity items ( such as actual tables and chairs), new NPCs that would trade and/or sell you items, new mechanics that would allow you to build houses for certain npcs like maybe a house with a chest and crafting table for the merchant, or house with a furnace and anvil for the weapons dealer, etc.. Idk how long this would take but i think it would be a totally awesome mod and a lot of people would probably play it. Also new biomes and underground biomes as well as new hostile mobs and bosses that spawn when certain conditions are met or in new dimmensions a.k.a The Crimson, The Corruption, The hallow, and so on and so forth yea anyways thi spost is getting reeally long reply back and let me know what you think?
I was trying to make a mod but I am not good enough in java for this.
Discworld - Yes the world is flat. But it also has an edge.
So I want the possibility to have a limited world. The smallest would be the size of 1 biggest map (128/128 chunks), and the biggest, well, is infinite. As long as the world is not infinite, its edge will be round.
The idea behind this is to have a compact world, more or less limited resource, the eeriness of an edge, and the possibility to make moons, comets and other planets farer.
If you want I can share with you my starting points. I could find out how to stop generation passed a certain point, but I would like it to be customizable from the world generation menu.
Example:
(what is outside the edge are mine shafts who continued to generate nevertheless)

One way to eliminate the "semi" in "semi-realistic": Maybe as a rare event, you could have a villager spawn who tries to unionize the workers, and then you have to assassinate or discredit the leader in order to maintain your stranglehold on your proles, A capitalist mod wouldn't get more realistic than that.
As a side note, is this sort of what you're envisioning? (I haven't tried it out yet, so I'm just wondering if there's any overlap.)

1) Maybe in a later version
2) Minecolony? What kind of commie filth is this? In Capitalist craft the people are free to do what they want, not just work for El Presidente
Ooh! Also, to defeat the unionizer, you could fund some sort of racist/anti-Semitic demagogue in order to split the support among your workers. This is really getting good now.

I think that the simpler the mod is, the more likey it is to actually exist at some point. I just want an economic simulation, not an Oligarchy simulator.

Well, I was half-joking; maybe a little less than half. But, as a conceptual retort, you can't have an economy without an oligarchy; at least, it's never been done before.
But yeah, I don't see those elements actually being added. Couldn't help myself. Apologies to the OP.
