I had an idea, there should be jars and nets that you can use to catch bugs! If you caught a bug with a net it would go to a jar if there was on in your inventory. And if you caught a firefly you could place it and it would give off light. Also if you catch a bee and you released the bee from its jar while there were enemies nearby, it would fly around and attack every enemy in sight for a few seconds before flying off
I think that's a good idea. But, I'm thinking one (insert item here), a slimeball (especially since slimes spawn naturally in swamps aboveground now) and a glass bottle would be pretty cheap to turn into a different mob (one diamond to turn into a cave ogre... wow). I'm thinking somewhere between maybe 16 to a full stack of the item, depending on how rare it is. Or maybe the amount of (insert item here) you put in, the longer it lasts. Just some ideas to add to yours.
Perhaps the recipe is a tad too cheap. I was thinking of the regular essence recipe. Maybe instead the recipe is as below?

_glass bottle_
Or maybe that's too expensive.... Gee, I don't know. I spoiled myself with playing creative, lol. I was trying to think of something rare but not too rare.

Hah! You though you would see something interesting here, didn't you?
Guinea Pigs! They could be tamable with Hay (made of wheat and Seeds) or apples then rightclicking with a medallion. Then they could ride on your head, Be breed with carrots and have 2-4 babies. there could also be cages added to hold them in! large, mediem and small ( large holds up to 5, mediem up to 3 and small just 1). PLEASE add these because I love guinea pigs! thanks!
Dogs: tame a wolf, feed it something (I don't know what) and it turns into a dog. The breeds are randomized. Dogs are a lot like regular wolves, but they're much more loyal and follow you more. You can breed dogs and mix them and make mutts.
I think the dragons idea is the best, but they should always be around/guarding/fly back when attacked to a nest with 1-4 eggs, which can be stolen or taken when the dragon is killed. The player will throw the egg down like chicken eggs, having around a 25% chance to spawn a tamed baby dragon the same color as the adult. When grown, the adult dragon will attack for the player and can be ridden when given a saddle.
ps- Dragons are awesome and I think that they would make this already awesome mod even better. Please consider my idea, thanks.

I think that's good. Perhaps... you could craft two types, one with 1 (insert item here), and one with 2 or possibly 3. If you craft one with 2 (insert item here), it would last a bit longer than with just 1, same with 3. Just some moar ideassssss.

Okay, here we go.
A (tamable) lion with fire for a mane. A tiger with lightning bolt-shaped stripes, a Thunderbird (tamable and ridable, just to make things simple, make them all tamable), an ice wolf, a snapping turtle, a small oriental dragon, an ice wolf, a rhinoceros, an elephant, a very cute and easy to tame seal that will allow the player to tame a walrus, a lizard, coyote, pangolin, badger, wolverine, weasel, ferret (tamable). hamster/guinea pig, fluffy cats, echidnas, porcupines, platypi, Siberian tigers, ghost black panthers, sea turtles, whales (if possible), sea lions, monkeys, giraffes, kangaroos, koalas, sloths, gorillas, orangutans, gibbons, clouded leopards, phoenixes, red pandas, gars, octopi, rams, mountain sheep, lemurs that behave funnily, okapis, Baku, and some ice age animals.
Penguins- In Taiga's and Snow biomes there will be igloos you can go in and if you feed the penguins a fish they will be tamed. The igloos can be a made a house
Elk- They are a passive mod that drops leather and antlers.
Wolves(updated)- The wolves would travel in packs.Hunt down deer. by feeding the leader raw meat(Leader will be bigger than others)The whole entire pack will be tamed. if bring to your house and fed cooked piece of steak to leader tehy will start building mysteriously a camp with 2 dens and a leader den. You can breed two wolves by feeing hem cooked chicken. Once bred once they will produce (like kitties) 1-3 pups. Also once bred they can't be bred with anyone else since they are now mates. This would be my favorite mod if made.
Vampires- Vampires can kill you by biting you very harshly. Werewolves hate them and will kill them for their own safety. The only way to kill a vampire is garlic or holy water which can be found by garlic seeds from grass every time you break it ,and having a bucket of water and having a preset from a village bless it.
Pumpkins- Flying pumpkin heads that can make you go blind and kill you
Hope the wolves can be updated like that. i would love it.
Also i love the Guinea pig idea, dog idea, and the catching bugs idea
A comodo dragon will be awesome, they have a poisonous ( toxic saliva, they slobber alot ), effect for the jungle or desert biomes. they should be hard to kill, it should drop comodo saliva only obtainable in bottle and when you obtain it and brew it with gunpouder/splash potion effect it adds poison 2.5 min. and you should add galapogose island turtles or bigger turtles in the jungle biomes.
I know this isn't a mob request, but i'd like to see an option that allows you to disable ogre griefing. Every time they destroy something I make, it es me off.
I'd love to see a penguin spawn in ice caps! It would have the same health... as say a cow? It would be VERY protective of its young.I would rather have realistic than fictionalized characters. Who agreeeeees?
Dragons-rare, very large reptile. Lots of HP, and do great damage. Different types depending on biome. All dragons can be ridden (running and flying(except the cave and emerald)) when tamed and have room for an inventory, except cave dragons and emerald dragons. When killed, they drop dragon scales 2-5 and dragon meat 2-4. Dragon scales are used to make dragon armor (same protection as diamond) and dragon saddles. Dragon meat can be cooked to restore 4 health (hearts) and given to baby dragons that the player hatches with a medallion.
-Lava Dragon=Red: Lives in or near lava, fireproof, breathes fire thats has a 50% chance to catch the player or blocks around them on fire. In the Nether or in the real world, hiding in lava. A four legged beast with two wings, a long tail, and horns.
-Night Dragon=Black: Spawn at night or in the Nether, very aggressive, has breath of darkness attack. A four legged beast with two wings, almost no tail, and horns, being able to carry up to two riders.
-Mountain Dragon=Brown: Lives in mountain biomes, avoids being in sight of player, but attacks if player comes close with breathing tons of tiny pebbles, each doing around .25 hearts. This dragon looks like a small mountain, until it moves, transforming into a four legged beast with two wings, a long tail, and horns covered in small, cracked rocks.
-Water Dragon=Blue: Lives in water, usually ocean biomes, but sometimes spawning in underground reservoirs. Has water jet breath attack. Can grab player and attempt to drown them. This dragon has the appearance of a long lizard with tentacles, but with long rudder like limbs and long skinny wings. When flying rain comes from its wings and falls on everything under it.
-Emerald Dragon=Green: Smaller than most dragons, lives in forests, does not attack unless provoked. Uses biome colors to change its appearance, varying from light to dark green. These dragons shoot venom from its long, sharp fangs, infecting the player with a lethal poison. This dragon resembles a wyvern, having two legs, two wings, three long, skinny tails, and long, skinny horns and fangs coming from of its head. They climbs tree very rapidly, going sideways and upside-down until reaching the top when it leaps off and glide away from attackers, not being able to fly for real.
-Snow Dragon=White: Lives in Tundra biomes, freezes water, causes snow storms, and has lots of health lots of health. Resembling a snow mound until provoked or tread upon, then it turns into large, very fast form of a wyvern with four wings and two tails. When attacked, they shoot a spray of ice and snow, slowing the player and having a 10% chance of encasing them in a block of ice, freezing the player in place until they break out.
-Cave Dragon=Gray: The smallest of Dragons, lives in caves, very aggressive in protecting its territory. Can dig through stone and also breath liquid metal and burning the player. These dragons have four squat legs, two tiny wings that don't work, a wide, fat body, and a very square head on a short, fat neck. This dragon takes damage in direct sunlight after a minute. Despite its appearance, not being to fly has made this dragon into a formidable runner, going faster than any type other mount
-Gold Dragon=Yellow: Rarest, largest, and toughest of all dragons, lives primarily in desert, but sometimes seen flying across biomes to get to a new desert. This dragon looks like the ancient Chinese dragons and breaths lightning on attackers, dizzying them and sometimes burning them for extra damage. Though not having wings, gold dragons can still fly. This dragon can carry up to three players and has extra room in its inventory.
-Fairy Dragon=pink: Seen flying in any biome, these dragons are extremely friendly. Fairy dragons have four dainty little legs, two butterfly wings, a small skinny body, and small curly horns. The player can change the color of their fairy dragon by right clicking it with any dye. The only way to get a tamed fairy dragon is to get its eggs. Fairy dragons only fly around, only touching the ground to fight something on the ground, so they don't have a nest. The only way to get fairy dragon eggs is by letting it kill your fairy horse. When the dragon kills your horse, it will make a nest where the horse corpse was and lay 1-4 eggs in the nest, which you can steal after killing the dragon, or you can sneak to steal the eggs.
They should always be around/guarding/fly back when attacked to a nest with 1-4 eggs or wyrmlings, which can be stolen or taken when the dragon is killed. The player will throw the egg down like chicken eggs, having around a 25% chance to spawn a tamed baby dragon the same color as the adult or when put into a incubator(crafting guide below) (depending on the dragon egg's "race") the chance of hatching a baby dragon will increase to 90%. Dragons can be tamed when they are babies by feeding them dragon meat and giving them a medallion. When grown, the adult dragon will attack for the player and can be ridden when given a saddle.

Dragon Breeding- Breeding dragons is much like horses, requiring them to be put within 4 block of each other, requiring the minimum of 8 block away from other dragons and other mobs, and requiring them to be fed dragon meat. The outcome of breeding different types of dragons is much like breeding dolphins, but instead of having a genetic value, dragons have colors. Like a color scale, the combination of colors will have a 25% chance to be a result in their baby (example- breeding a blue dragon and a gold dragon will have a 25% of producing a green dragon). After breeding, both dragons become sterile, unless you turn on Easy Breeding in the Mod Options section in setting. Also after breeding, the mating pair of dragons will construct a nest, from which you can take the eggs after they grow to the right size, which takes about 2 minecraft days. The bred eggs have a 100% chance to hatch a new baby dragon, unless taken from the nest before the full 2 days. If the eggs are taken before the full 2 days, they act like wild eggs, only having a 25% chance, unless put in an incubator.
Riding Dragons- All dragons can be ridden when tamed (hatched by the player) and some can be ridden with multiple people (gold and night). To ride a dragon, it requires a special saddle called a dragon saddle. Dragons that can carry more then one require more than one saddle to do so.

Having dragons would be great and all, but I have some questions...
First off, I think having black dragons would be awesome, but area effect attacks don't seem to work out; we already have a dragon that has area effect attacks in vanilla minecraft, and I honestly find it annoying. If I was able to tame a black dragon, I would find it hard to do anything with him with an area effect attack, especially if they have harsh tempers. Perhaps they just have a special breath, like liquid darkness? That would be cool.
Next, I think that giving the dragons names that aren't just colors would be good too. However, having them just be black dragons, gold dragons, etc. does help with remembering what color breeds well with what. I was thinking having different names, yet related names would make them more appealing though (example: black=night dragon, green=emerald dragon, blue=water dragon).
Also, I noticed you didn't mention that all of the dragons have the same build. This made me curious as to what all of the dragons looked like. Having different builds, after all, would also make the dragons interesting. Like the blue or water dragons would all be Sea Serpents, red dragons would be horned, four legged two winged dragons, greens could be two legged two winged Wyverns, golds and silvers could be Chinese Lungs/Korean Yongs, etc.
Lastly, you mentioned that red dragons can breath fire, and blue dragons can spit water. How about another type of dragon can spit poison, or summon lightning? Golds can summon lightning.... that would make the desert a much more frightening place. Although I like the idea that you don't have every dragon type a fire breather.
Aside from these thoughts, I think having dragons in the game would be a good step up. Especially since a lot of people want them.
