long time that i have cheked this forum again and still its not finisd. to bad but i still belive this mod is going to come out. do your best. and good luck!
once again best mod ever but one thing NEEDS A AUTOMATIC INSTALLER FOR PEOPLE WHO SUCK T MODDING
like me but if i can i will donate for this mod but u got to do something about griefer armies just wiping out everything
I have to say that I still believe that if you are going to connect your server to a network of free servers with this mod running, you are going to have to plan on dealing with greifing. The only thing I can think of as a measure against it would be land based anti-orbital cannons of some kind and early warning systems that let you know a ship or fleet has entered the area.
Griefers should be banned. infact perhaps there should be a method for one server admin to ban someone across the whole network of servers. but for the most part this mod is about allowing freedom. if you prevent people from preforming surprise planetary bombardment then you really destroy part of what would make it fun.
Short story: dont connect your creative server to an open universe.

Indeed it shall, the likes of which you have never seen before...
if this is succesfully made the main thing I would wan is just a small floating room filled with chests and the chests are filled with things like diamond arrows and other random things what would be the closest to that I could get because I did read most of the original post but I just couldnt quite tell what the closest thing to that and easiest to build would be.

If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens [url="http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/695982-gamechaps-spiffing-modification/"][img]http://mag.racked.eu/cimage/4157zox
The WIP doesn't require deliverables, so it might go there instead. Though maybe it's still to early for that. Up to you.
*edit*
While that's being done, I could use some input.
Currently I'm overhauling the collision system to be more robust and handle different types of collision models. In vanilla minecraft, all collisions are handled by axis-aligned bounding boxes, so 6 sides all oriented along the XYZ axes. I got around this with the ship demo by reorienting the bounding boxes of onboard entities to match the axes of the ship, but that only goes so far; there are collision models that can't be reoriented, like the terrain, which will require oriented bounding boxes. They're more complicated, but with some liberal use of precalculation, not too terribly expensive.
Now here's the part that matters to the rest of you. This type of collision box has a full 6 degrees of freedom, meaning any coordinate and any orientation, including pitch and roll, which in turn means ships and other objects are capable of any conceivable movement, which would be cool.
So here's the part I'm not sure on: How should I make the player interact with non-level surfaces? I assume he can walk up and down slopes of a certain degree, but how steep should that bee and should there be sliding involved? Also how does climbing up half-blocks work when you are on a slope?
If anyone has any ideas about this, let me know. I can do just about anything from a technical standpoint; what I'm looking for is what would work well from a gameplay perspective.
*side-note* The player has to be vertically aligned to the world, no matter what the ship orientation. Later on, artificial gravity will be possible, but for the time being Earth gravity is all we got.

U know I had an idea for a mod that made you have to advance through tiers such as normal then better than wolves than buildcraft then industrial then moon and mars mod and aether mod( :biggrin.gif: love the mod but needs to be updated :sad.gif: )then this the ultimate level in minecraft.
So after a while I finished the ship I was talking about 1 month ago. I'll put up a post for the ship..... FINALLY! I am still very into this mod, but I haven't had the time to post anything.
(My first time back on the forums in months!!!!!!!!)
i had an idea,
Dammit i just forgot- oh now i remember. what if there was a room on every ship, called the crash vault. everything and everyone in it would be teleported to a place on the area below after a crash. the room would be roughly 20x20 and completely airtight. part of the actuall walls would be teleported (recreated) on the surface too.
- Nota botmecom
P.S. Why don't you and fr0sty just create you're own game??? I would buy it!

Or more realistically, everyone could be burned alive in a fiery inferno. I personally prefer this idea.

That is sort of the plan. We were thinking of four tiers.
I believe that I could help. I have a site that deals with spaceships and such but is based in math and science, not guesswork. I could translate the data from that site to mc data and then pm that to you, for example how that would act under the Kzinti principle and Jon's law.

I'm eccentric. Crazy means you suffer from insanity. Eccentric means you enjoy it. See above.
So you are imagining kindof a futuristic world right?
Like future trading mechanics future building techniques future warfare etc.
For building techniques there should be a way to copy and pasteish previously made buildings like you could have a robot build a building for you slowly but surely. You could also make them mine or lumberjack etc.
Maybe for ships instead of you designing all the possible ships the people/players could design their ship like they'd have to craft specific blocks for cannons and different types they could also make a cargo hold (an area surrounded by special blocks, the space determines cargo capacity) to carry their goods to others. They'd also be able to craft different boosters for different effects and other ship requirements. Therefore it would be very expensive to make a good ship so the best clans would be able to give materials for bigger ships making them the best with custom ships.
Maybe instead of servers there would be a planet for each clan that they could cover with whatever they wanted such as military training(that would also have to added for ground defense)
I hope you think about these ideas and expand upon them to make it work
I look forward to seeing this mod in the future all my support to you!
With your theory of how the ship will move you could add something like when a ship is destroyed all the blocks that were not destroyed detach from each other and go at terminal velocity. Then they could spread out and if they drift towards a server >1/2 of the debris burns up and the other half fall onto the planet. This means you can reclaim some of your ship, or your ship drifts off and other ships hit it.
Fixed up for readability - TheKian
Consider this if you wish to implement anything similar to, like or as this suggestion.
A ) In space, there is no terminal velocity
B ) According to the law of inertia, the blocks wouldn't keep accelerating without some kind of propulsion
C ) Even a big piece of ship would likely burn up in the atmosphere, it's pointless to pick up what is basically an iron nugget (1/9 of ingot) covered in lava.
Incidentally, do you developers still have the map with the battlecruiser shown in the banner?
P.S. Do you guys have a website?
P.P.S. I know you have forums, of course.
P.P.P.S. Does this conform to Newton's laws, such as inertia and acceleration? It's kind of strange to stop as fast as breaking a netherrack block with an efficiency V golden pickaxe, and it's even stranger to go from a dead stop to 185,999.99999 miles per hour.

There's some debate on that, but the general consensus seems to be as realistic as possible without compromising gameplay value.

this has been adressed to earlier look back in the topic k?
If I make a mistake on something, feel free to correct me. I'm always open to improvement.
Nope :smile.gif:
Flying ships are now being rendered the same way terrain gets drawn every frame. It's very fast and very scalable.
I shall post the link at the top of the Main Post.

Make high-quality models in the Techne. And do the model in Blender.

READ THE OP!!!!!
Just saying, maybe you should update the OP before telling people to go read it.
