I think one point of confusion or perhaps contention is that MCMMO stands for Minecraft Massively Multiplayer Online...
which single player isn't--by definition.
I suppose what we'rereally asking for is what you might call MCRPG. We want a mod that adds stat progression that grants ranks with tangible benefits at various in-game tasks as you perform them more often.
To give you a breakdown of what MCMMO does, here are a few examples:
There are skills every character possesses within which one may gain ranks, such as mining, excavation, woodcutting, herbalism, acrobatics, fishing, sword combat, axe combat, bow combat, unarmed combat, and repair.
As you perform tasks, you gain experience in them, and the experience contributes toward ranks in these various skills.
Higher ranks in the collection skills has the effect of increasing drop rates and the discovery of other unexpected items:
When digging with a shovel (Excavation skill), higher ranks allow you to find things like eggs when digging up grass, glowstone dust when digging up dirt, bones or gunpowder when digging up gravel, etc.
When mining with a pick, higher ranks allow you to sometimes get a double-drop of ore or cobble, and gives you bonuses for mining with TNT. Even higher levels make you slightly more resistent to TNT damage!
When collecting plants or harvesting crops with Herbalism, higher ranks give you double drops, a bonus to the amount of hunger restored by bread, and the ability to make grass grow on a dirt block underground or germinate moss within cobble or stone bricks using seeds.
My favorite is repair, where you craft an Iron Block to use as an Anvil, and can restore an amount of durability to an item by consuming one of its raw materials, such as a diamond used up to repair a diamond pickaxe by about a third of its max durability--and you get better at it as you go, eventually even learning how to maintain some of your enchantments on items you are repairing!!
Taming comes close to favorite as it makes your wolves much more useful, but only with HARD WORK! The first ability is called "fast food" at level 50, where wolves will actually heal themselves by stealing HP from enemies upon attack. Later on, they learn to be afraid of cactus, fire, and lava--and also become tougher, so they can resist some of the damage of creeper explosions.
Without repair and taming, singleplayer just isn't fun for me. I've been hoping for someone to figure out a way to force mcmmo's features to work in singleplayer ever since the very first time I played with it. It breaks my heart that you can only find it on servers.
Now, I am aware that there are a lot of mods out there that do try to make Minecraft into an RPG... but they totally convert the game and just go too far, even going so far as changing the entire interface or even outright casting aside minecraft's core mechanics!
What's beautiful about MCMMO is that it keeps minecraft feeling like minecraft! It doesn't change the interface, but simply adds to the game using what's already there. I don't think I could stomach doing something that requires a whole new inventory GUI or a bunch of interface options. MCMMO is simple and intuitive for users. For users, it's non-invasive. It doesn't require you to re-learn the game--it just rewards you for playing it like you always have.
TL;DR: We don't necessarily want Legend of Notch or Hack/Mine any silly stuff like that with its special worldgens or special npcs or special menus. We want simple, easy, basic, understandable MCMMO.
Your ideas are matched with mine exactly. I always wanted to have the advantages of skills and experience in tasks that would benefit in playing longer without adding any new things to the game. I think once I get a release out for 1.3 I'm going to work on the taming skill and repairing enchantments (heavy testing needed for testing enchantments). Hopefully I can influence behavior on a pet wolf without editing another base class to avoid mod conflicts. Next on my list also includes axe combat and blast mining.
Also, do you think the idea of a new GUI is bad? It's a completely seperate GUI and is its own control which gives help and shows your stats.
Forum page sounds nice. You should concider making one on your site too for bug reports ect. I only see the changelog when I click "forum" on your site.
Aside from this. The repair glitch being fixed to the extent it was fixed is very nice, but it is possible to cheat now. it does not truely consume spent resourses and those values still return to origional values when inventory slots are adjusted. I can toss my junk away and act like it did spend, and I'm sure its not a big deal for those who WANT to cheat, but I wanted to announce this.
Also, as a request. Do you think it might be possible for you to make an exp multiplier for those who want to gain exp values faster/slower? Maybe people who aren't satisfied with your exp value rates. I feel that leveling up repair with diamond weapons scales far too quickely as I was gaining a whole 10 levels per repair, and even now after your fix I gain 2 at over 1k levels. I also feel woodcutting scaled far too slowly before your fix (haven't tested after just yet). I'm also sure different people will hold different oppinions on this.

(Sorry for the long post)
I actually have my changelog and contact pages all over my forum page... Click where it says Single Player mcMMO to find the mod page.
I also have several links to a page where you can send me a message. They likely say Mod Support Ticket or the like.
Thanks for the information on repair and such. I hadn't realized this and yes that is a stupid bug that will promptly be quashed.
In technical terms, when the made everything server-side I had to change a great deal of code to fit it into single player. Mainly I had issues with spawning extra drops if one's mining level is high enough or changing the player's inventory. All of these things happen client side but get reverted when the "server" updates the inventory or when you exit and re-enter the world.
I have thought about the experience multiplier but I have decided that, unless this actually a server mod, it shouldn't have configurable experience values. I am all for customization but I want to make those levels a real achievement where you can share amongst your friends how high your mining skill is and how quickly you can shoot a creeper to death. These levels are being set up for those will play single player a long time and want some sort of goal to get to and achieve. (how do achievements sound for certain levels? )
Thanks so much for your response. These comments and feedback from the forum is gold for me. Please send in more (preferably by email/message)
Running a local bukkit server is not an ideal solution in the least. Doing so would conflict with the other 30 some odd mods I run (like industrialcraft). While Solar Prism's mod looks nice 1 it isn't compatible with forge yet and 2 he's on a little hiatus and I need something that would work with 1.4.5+
yeeeaaahhhh.... it's kind of a shame that solarprizm's got too much on his plate to fit MCStats... So I guess it's time to poke this thread again, because it kind of deserves at least a little attention.

I would agree, though I honestly think that since solarprizm made the mod I think that someone capable enough to update his mod would be great even if they don't add anything new. Some new things being added to it (for if they would) would be nice every once in a while but if they don't want to do that then I would say just updating it to the newest MC version would be amazing. I honestly like to see a mod like this stick with MC.
I know there's a lot of mods that are out there that might be older and have been very popular with MC since I don't know when, seeing how popular some mods are to just see them one day no longer being updated for MC saddens me cause no one will be able to play with it anymore then. I'm saddened very greatly knowing that some mods have the potential to become so popular but they either don't cause they get dropped or just don't continue to be updated.
I also found a custom dungeon map that someone made, I don't know if anyone here has heard of it for even the slightest moment but the map is called "Dungeon of Heroes" or something like that. This mod would be AMAZING for that cause you would be gaining experience with just your bare fist for damage if you really had to, I mean I think that map would have been even more fun for me if this mod was updated for 1.4.5 like that map was. Lot's of fun could be had even if you are just playing alone or lot's of more fun could be had just having the mod being updated even if your just playing in a normal MC world.
I could think of multiple maps where I would have LOVED to play with solarprizm's mod with those maps.
I'd love to see it too, but until then here is the (IMO) best solution:
Install Bukkit into your client. I made a thread about doing so... Its ForgeBukkit, and (obviously) you need Forge to run it. Put ForgeBukkit jar into the CoreMods. Then you can use Bukkit plugins in your single-player. For me, it did in fact work with Feed The Beast Ultimate Pack.

Unfortunately you're wasting the time of everybody here. You didn't make a thread about doing so, you made a thread about masterbation/self gratification. You really don't say anything at all in your other post, you're only tooting your own horn. Nothing else. No links to the "ForgeBukkit" you used. No steps to reproduce. No screenshots. Nothing. So thanks for nothing guy.
I've since somewhat given up on ever getting MCMMO into SSP, but it'd still be nice. Until then, I'd just be satisfied with a HUD mod to better access it on servers.

Please head over to the mcStats mod page!
