Our of curiosity, will a wiki be made for this version? Due to the fact alot of the machines have been entirely changed in this one, I just made a crusher, and am not entirely sure how to work it, tried looking up videos, and at the previous wikis, to no avail I'm afraid.
Looking forward to finding out what those extra slots in the Crusher are for.
I'm aware this is probably the wrong time to ask, but are the new machines still Buildcraft pipe-compatible?
Thanks!
EDIT: Bug report (?)
I don't know what I did precisely but "all of a sudden" (until I can replicate the conditions), the vanilla furnace won't smelt dust with normal coal, whereas it did just a few hours ago.

Oh hey. I tried getting around the bug I reported in the post above with another mod (Custom Recipes) just because I like trying stuff.
Apparently it can cause problems to have dots in names (such as "vanilla.dust" instead of "vanilla_dust", I'm seeing this all over Google when searching for a workaround...
E.g. http://www.sencha.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-66080.html
Might help compatibility with JSON readers--just saying!

Well, it's not my fault that Custom Recipes dev chose to have the item names in the fields instead of values as he suppose to do.
Example of a correct field and value for item name
{"itemName":"vanilla.dust"}
for me it's a simple separator, others chose to use getUnlocalizedName() for their item / block names so, you would have something like item.modname:itemName.type.metadata as the item name

Oh I'm not pointing fingers
It just looked to me as if there was a convention where ppl should use the underscore instead of the dot kind of like in vanilla Minecraft, either way I'm not a mod author and there will be workarounds on both sides, plus changing the nameset at this point is probably a pain so...!

~ No smelting Recipe for iron dust (Checked with Crafting guide mod & Tried to smelt)
No recipe for Gold dust either, in fact there's a bunch missing, Craftguide shows which ones (tried without that mod, doesn't change anything).
There are also many recipes involving smelting an ingot to... the same ingot, not sure if that's on purpose or not.

Well, I don't know what version are you using, as it's not operational in the beta, plus doesn't it seems off that your ratio is wrong. if 10 buckets make 128 ingots, how come is it 1 bucket for 64?
It takes 10 buckets to fill it. After smelting 128 ingots, it had only used 2 buckets of lava. It is working fine with the version I was testing. Keep up the great work guys!
Bricks no longer seem to be the economical 1:1 ingot:brick ratio anymore. Not sure if this is deliberate
Current issues I've encountered are:
- Iron and gold dusts can't be smelted to ore.
- Can't combine mithril and silver to make quicksilver.
- Promethium blocks don't drop the ore when mined.
Other than that, having a beautiful time! Will edit this post as I find more stuff.
I already miss the expanded chests... will those be back in some shape or form?

It's great to see this mod revived! But i have several concerns...
Things from the past:
Expanded Chests, Furnaces, and Crushers- This was a feature that i loved. I loved gathering a tremendous amount of ores and crushing them all in multiple steel crushers and then smelting them down on a wall of steel furnaces. It always felt great to assemble a platinum chest and dump all of my inventory into it- it had a special feeling of satisfaction. They really were a necessity with such an abundance of different ores.
Abstractors- Getting fortune III is a pain in the neck, so abstractors were a good investment for me. My favorite thing to do was load one up with a stack of prometheum powder and a stack of ingots, leave the room and return to see a room full of experience orbs.
Minting/Coins- Although i had never had the time to make a mint and use it (so much to do in metallurgy, you know) I did enjoy using the electrum coins/stacks to trade with villagers. Had i made mint it would have been very cool to just get whatever you want basically from a villager. I thought it was a neat alternative to emeralds.
Lanterns- Those were very cool looking and a great form of decoration. I hope they find their way back into this mod.
Tartarite Enchanter- Never got a chance to make it, but i saw it on a video. It seems very neat and i think it would be cool to be back in this mod. I don't mind about this one as much as the other things i suggested.
Fertilizer- I'm not totally sure this is in the mod, i just though tit ought to be if the utility ores are. (otherwise the utility ores don't really serve a purpose, do they)
Overall, it's great to see this mod back, i want to see where this goes next. Also, with regards to suggestions/questions, i don't think it's a very good idea to hide things from players about the updates and future plans because i think everyone on here provides pretty good feedback that can be useful.

Utility ores are back and I believe fertilizer is working. I would love to see an abstractor, mint, and expanded chest reappearance. Crushers and some other machines are available in this mod as well, they're just crafted differently. No clue about the enchanter.

- Bricks now changed into 4:1, you can retrieve them back like the block
- Quicksliver can be made only with alloyer, a list of alloys that requires the alloyer will be posted, for now you can check them using NEI
- Thats odd, Just tried it they drop blocks, make sure you use stone pick or better to mine them.

- Expanded Chests, Furnaces, and Crushers
As I have mention before on this post, the tiers for the machines are gone, we will be going for one machine per type this time, also we have plans for storage
- Abstractors, Minting/Coins, Lanterns, Tartarite Enchanter, Fertilizer, and Future plans.
We have plans for everything that is in Metallurgy 3, you guys have to wait and see, everything will be revealed in time

Yeah the Utility ores are included in version 4, other stuff will be revealed in time
Also, I want to inform you guys that there is a new version (4.0.2.4) with bunch of bug fixes
YAY *bounce* going to install bugfix right now!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Ah, the forum post is only for discussion about the released and beta versions, not the dev builds.
To prevent confusions, Team Metallurgy have decided to switch the CI (Jenkins) to Private.
Didn't test with Buildcraft pipes yet, but they do support hoppers, so give it a shot
