would it be possible for the sieve to actually get an output side... perhaps if you place a hopper below the sieve will automatically deposit the sieved items into the hopper? I'm trying to automate the sieve, but it's really annoying how derpy the items keep flying everywhere...
Can't answer for Erasmus, but in the meantime you can use flowing water over the top of the sieve running to a hopper. It works perfectly if you build a little enclosure around it and keep it open to the air, just building the walls up a couple of blocks to contain the drops. You can probably even put a roof on it, but I'm not sure how tall it would have to be to prevent items occasionally teleporting out. Without a roof I've built a perfectly self-contained system, though.

there are other ways around yes, you could also for example use Minefactory Reloaded's conveyor belts, as they work similar to water. but I want to have to automate the sieves more efficiently, and there isn't really a good compact and efficient way right now to do that
Hey folks. I'm having some trouble with the little stone pebbley things. They won't craft into a cobblestone block as stated in the original post.
I do have several other mods installed so it could be some kind of ID conflict, but the only one which isn't covered by Ex Aquilio is Dynamic Lighting.
Anyway, if someone can suggest a solution I'd be very grateful. If it involves changing an ID, some really specific instructions would be really appreciated, as I have never dabbled in creating/editing mods.

Are you trying to craft them in a 3x3 square, or a 2x2 square?

I'm using the openblocks vaccuum to catch those items, but those are quite derpy themselves aswell...
Nearly every block I add is compatible with every form of item transport that I could find. I'm a huge fan of modded Minecraft (obviously), but I honestly I don't want those sieves to be automated. Enough people liked the idea of using the autonomous activators and TC golems and such that I left a config option for people that want to do so.
The thing that sits at the heart of the skyblock experience and makes it unique and wonderful.. is scarcity. Automation of the sieve completely eliminates scarcity and kills the challenge. Then once the challenge is gone, so too is the fun. IMHO, if you want fully automated metal production, you should be forced to aim for a MFR laser drill, whose cost and energy requirements are far better balanced. The autonomous activator combined with a sieve is far too cheap for what the two do. Jadedcat made the activator cost diamonds and emeralds in Agrarian Skies, and I am so glad that she did.
I won't stop people from playing the way they want, but I'm not going to help out with this particular endeavor either. Creative Mode is the exact opposite of fun. Thats pretty much my mantra.

I understand your point of view and I agree with it
something I did notice though if you've a sieve completely surrounded with activators, the resources tend to spew from the top, if anyone wanted to know...

After around 8 stacks, you get sick and tired of sieving stuff. I think sieve automation should be in the mod just for this reason. Now here's my idea on how to make it happen a bit more balanced:
Input is available from any side but the bottom. If there is a hopper on the bottom of the sieve, then it will slowly sift through the material inside. By slowly, I mean 1 click per second or less. This should take a long time. When the sieve finishes with its items, it outputs directly to the hopper underneath. While automating in this fashion, you cannot click the sieve. At all. It just won't work. So in order to do this, you need some form of non-player input and a hopper to output. That's per sieve. With this method in place, it would take a lot of iron and a lot of space to get any usable amount of materials. It also means that you don't have to install another mod to automate sieves. One option to give sieve automation a bit more balance is to make an advanced sieve. This sieve would be rather pricey (I'm talking diamonds and/or emeralds here) but it would have a faster click cap, it would process materials faster when holding down right click (compared to normal sieve), and it would be the only sieve usable for the automation I just described. My idea for a recipe for this is:
[iron, bars, iron]
[diamond, bars, emerald]
[iron, null, iron]
The diamond and emerald can be in the opposite slot and the recipe would still work, and bars means iron bars. This recipe means you have to do a bit of manual sifting to get this small amount of automation. The advanced sieve also works as an upgrade to the old one you were using for manual resource production, which would mean getting another sieve that much quicker.
Looking back at the changelog, stones were added in v1.11 (octobre/november ish if I remember correctly), and the recipe was changed from 3x3 to 2x2 in v1.24 (I believe that was early February).
something I did notice though if you've a sieve completely surrounded with activators, the resources tend to spew from the top, if anyone wanted to know...
From what I know of, all items from a sieve tend to spew out from the top. I never saw the resources spew from anywhere else.

While I agree, I must also point out that as you progress, you need more stuff, and a lot more organizing comes out, and you need more time.
I need to tend to my crops, get rid of those leaves on that tree so a new tree growing doesn't overlap with it, lowering my sapling production, then chop down and replant the tree, I need to get more cobble from my cobble generator, breed my animals, compost for more dirt, craft more crooks, go up 40 blocks into the air and work on finishing that mob farm, and I need to make a netherwart farm as that is one of the most high-output farms I ever had, and sand(which makes soulsand) is much easier to get then dirt, and lets me use the dirt to make grass to get more animals, I need an ancient spore to make mycelium for my soulsand and mushroom farm.
And I just don't have the time to be sieving and hammering through stacks upon stacks upon stacks of blocks to get the resources I need.
-Edit-
I found a custom map called stoneless survival(or something like that)
It's a map where a chunk of land was fenced off, and all stone inside that land removed.
I'm tempted to try and play that map, just to make stone in a stoneless survival
I'm playing the skyblock map that has this mod in it and im trying to collect silkworms by hitting leaves with a crook. I've gone through about 3 crooks and havent gotten any silkworms....is that normal? It also looks like there is no config file for ex nihilo

It's labeled "crowley.skyblock.config" instead of "exnihilo.config" or variants.

That's fine. I would be worried if you went through 8 crooks with no worms.

Apparently, the arcane lamp from Thaumcraft tries to light up the infested leaves, and then you have a ticking issue and the entire world crashes.
This is unsatisfactory.
That'd be it thanks pal.
