You're in violation of Mojang's stance on mods requiring permission for mods packs. If your mod is publicly distributed, you have no right to demand that people ask you for permission for your mod(s) to be used in their mod pack.
I could make a mod pack tomorrow, and include every one of your mods, and there would be no legal recourse available to you to prevent that.
No. My code is protected under copyright and Mojang can do nothing about that. Additionally, Mojang has since retracted that statement as being a miscommunication of their long-held "we can take the content from any mod" position.

Code is protected, but this isn't about your source code.
No, this refers to the binaries. Mojang specifically responded when asked what Mod authors could do to restrict their mods from being used in unauthorized packs. Mojang's response was "Not distribute it publicly". At the end of the day, your mods are derivative works.

Distributing modified versions of my code is distributing my code. Recompiling it does not suddenly take those protections away.
Also:
V18d is released for DyeTrees, DragonAPI, ReactorCraft, and RotaryCraft.

What?
We're talking about the compiled binaries/zips. That's not distributing modified versions, that's distributing unmodified versions.

No, this was a modified version, specifically with the animal config added to DyeTrees.
I'm not even talking about that...
I'm talking about Person A taking a binary, and redistributing it unmodified, with others in a pack, for Persons B, C and D.

That is more of a gray area, but refer to my original reply.

Refer to mine. I challenge that permission is a legal requirement.

If you are merely arguing terms, do not bother; I am an engineer, not a lawyer, and that then means that
A ) I have as much respect for the meaning-changing wordplay as I do for people who cannot comprehend the concept of "more", and
B ) This is well outside my field and not a topic I need or care to discuss.

Please go away, you are beating a dead horse that mod devs have been grinding their teeth over because of people like you. And infact several talented mod authors have dropped modding because of people like you.
Are you a lawyer? I doubt it.
Just respect Reikas wishes okay, for s sake. Do you like the content of Reikas FREE mod? yes? ok, so show some respect by respecting their wishes.

. An't hard.
Oh, look, the white knights have showed up right on schedule.
These arn't hard questions to address. Wishes are one thing. Legal recourse is another, especially given Mojang's explicit position on the subject.
Heck, I would love to know what would happen if the community started bypassing adf.ly links, because they're definitely a grey area.

Now you are simply starting to get aggressive and insulting. I am in agreement with them - drop the subject as at this point it is serving as nothing more than your soapbox.
Anyways, Eyamaz suggested that I make the cables in my electrical addon able to supply power to other mods' machines (directly). Is this a good idea, and if so, how would I prevent it being looped back into RC power via magnetostatics or the like?

Also, I found a wonderful solution which completely and perfectly balances a config - adjust animal drop rates accordingly. Cut the spawn rate in half? Sure, but now they drop twice as many items.:
int spawn = DyeOptions.ANIMALSPAWN.getValue();
int def = DyeOptions.ANIMALSPAWN.getDefaultValue();
if (spawn < def) {
int mult = def-spawn;
if (e instanceof EntityAnimal) {
for (int i = 0; i < mult; i++) {
for (int k = 0; k < drops.size(); k++)
ReikaItemHelper.dropItem(world, e.posX, e.posY, e.posZ, drops.get(k).getEntityItem());
}
}
}
Wouldnt a simple
for (int k = 0; k < drops.size() * mult; k++)
be more efficient ? (to change topic back to more "productive" aspects :P)
be more efficient ? (to change topic back to more "productive" aspects )
No, because the condition is recalculated every iteration, and my way only does the multiplication once. To be fair, it is a minimal load, seeing as it fires only once per mob death and it is a simple integer multiplication, but I see no reason not to do it.

That sounds like a great idea!
what about adding a loss of some sort in conversion to the magnetostatics (and other conversion things), so that using the electrical add-on is the only logical way of converting power

I kind of like but also kind of dislike the idea.

Does that mean your machines would be able to power those requiring RF, MJ, or EU? If so, wouldn't that make your simple steam engine completely game-breaking early on?

It has gotten more than enough people banned from various forums, and been at least a factor in a few modders quitting.
If you really wish to discuss this, there are better places to do so.
