Just ... a "minor" request, nothing "big, fancy", just ...
Can we please get some way to turn an existing grass or sand surface block into a nice, collapsible, carpenter's block, without having to dig up and replant an entire hillside?
Nothing major, just a little landscaping ... (about 2,000 blocks of grass ...)
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

Like go up to a block and hit it with the hammer and it collapses? That's a cool idea, actually. However, I would want to have a more fully featured collapsible block before I do that. I will probably start working on that next.

The frames and wallpapers that Kaevator implemented used entities, something I'm not too familiar with. It's a cool technique to get multiple things to occupy a single block space.
As interesting as it would be to make <insert block here> a Carpenter's block, they take time and a fair amount of debugging. Look at the crashing issues I had with gates, for instance.
At the moment I'm not rushing anything and am having fun playing games. You guys deserve a stable release to enjoy for the time being anyhow. Plus I may have to port it to 1.6 soon.
Understand and like that you want your mod to be stable.
But if you ever make a port of timber or you own, that would be very nice addition to your mod !
But your mod is excelent as it is !!!
ps. may i ask if you have a changelog somewhere ? Couldnt find it.

suggestion for slope - half slab slope
so i can make a roof be 22.5 degrees not 45
ofcourse would require both slab heights for it
also i was using slopes to made some angled supports for my bridge
i noticed carpenters blocks 'cannot be snowed on' and as like...neet
but i am in a snow biome, and some snow seems......important
so i tried to take some snow and place on a slope (textured by ic2 scaffolding)
the idea was to add a snow panel on top of the block (snow being angled too)
but no worky

1. My lighting currently doesn't play nice with half slopes. It's a bug I intend to figure out, just not now. And a more capable collapsible block is more likely than any half slope implementation, mainly because it will accomplish nearly the same amount of customizability.
2. I would have to write new render methods just for snow. Yikes. And it wouldn't work the way snow normally does because my block would have to pretend to have snow on top.
Are there any issues with the 2.0.3 dev that I should know about before using it? And is this normal to find in the log while using it?

The 2.0.3 dev currently has one bug that I know of and have fixed for the official release. It is related to dropping incorrect blocks under certain scenarios (Ars Magica 2). Other than that it should be fine.
The warning is harmless; it's because I didn't register my slope subblocks properly, something I only recently learned while porting this to 1.7.2.
You can try it, but I didn't keep track of the Forge builds for the releases, so I can't guarantee older builds won't have issues.
Regarding 1.7.2 Progress:
Rendering stuff is nearly done. I've expanded the overlay and dye color system to make it easy to add support for other mod dyes or items (internally, for now). The new packet stuff in 2.0.3 dev needs to be rewritten. Some miscellaneous things like doors not placing need to be fixed.
Hi again Mineshopper
I was wondering if it would be possible for you to make it so that your trap doors can be placed and opened sideways, like a window shutter? Id like a window area that I can open and close, so I can stab a zombie when I want to, but avoid having the Mo Creatures rats getting inside my house.

Is this a problem coming from Carpenter's Blocks, or MinePainter?
Probably this mod. The method in question normally calls values from a simple array, but mine has to grab the tile entity first. This is probably another case of bad coordinates being fed to the block. At least, that's my take on it.
I'm getting the crash now, it happened after I right clicked Carpenter doors with blue wool on them. But their player.dats were way passed the doors so I'm not sure why I cant get past the doors.
At this point if there's no bugs I'll just carry it over to official release status.. in a few days.
Thanks! I will check that out

Whoa! Old post. The changelog is in the Download spoiler in OP. It goes back all the way to v1.0.

Totally missed that one
Well yes, maybe old post but still much wanted by many i would guess

Is this a problem coming from Carpenter's Blocks, or MinePainter?
Probably this mod. The method in question normally calls values from a simple array, but mine has to grab the tile entity first. This is probably another case of bad coordinates being fed to the block. At least, that's my take on it.

I'm getting the crash now, it happened after I right clicked Carpenter doors with blue wool on them. But their player.dats were way passed the doors so I'm not sure why I cant get past the doors.
Not sure if it has anything to do with the doors.
v2.0.3 has been posted - I needed to get it out before I make more changes to the 1.7 branch and entirely forget what I was doing.
To select slopes its Sneak + Scroll-Up/Scroll-Down. It's in the OP, too. Let me know if I overlooked something!
