I've updated the mod again to include some tweaks to the written books. Links should be properly determined now to allow certain characters that require URL encoding (%, $, #, &, ^, etc), so those are allowed in the title now; there would have been a problem with apostrophes if this had not been taken care of. Aside from that, it is now possible to convert a written book in-game to a formatted text file by right clicking an Uncrafting Table. A file named Title - Author.txt will be exported to .minecraft/PlunderRummage/Books for easy submission and saving time. Just give me the link!
I just can't get this mod to work for nothing steve so sad ! This really is one of the coolest ideas I've ever seen so I REALLY want to play it ! *FrUsTrATioN**

Download this version and try again, with ONLY forge, GuffCore, and Plunder Rummage. There is absolutely no reason this should not be working. You might start by updating your system's Java version, just make sure you have the latest. If that doesn't work, then you might make sure that both of my mods are being put in the mods folder (neither of them go into coremods). If it is still not working, make sure all of the files are being downloaded and installed (which should be fine). If the problem continues, go to the forge forums and ask around. I wish I could be of more help but since this so far is the only case of this issue, I don't have much to give in the way of help. If you get it figured out, please come back and let me know so I can help others troubleshoot the problem in the future.

I found that this happens with a slightly outdated version of forge. Just beause the forge is 1.6.4 doesnt mean it is updated enough for the fairly new GuffCore. I hope this helped and good luck with the crash

Oh, I am not really looking for users to submit others' works, but rather writings that you have made yourself. Open source or not, I think it's best if users submit their work directly. If you have any that you have written, I will gladly accept them. Otherwise, I will have to have the author of the work submit them to me.
Quite alright, though I doubt Mr. Dickens or the author of Alladin will be able to catch up on their emails. Perhaps as a middle ground, if you can let me know how to add & format the public books, I'd be happy to put in a link to some for people to add themselves?

In the more recent update (0.4.6) I added a feature that allows one to write the book in-game and then right click an Uncrafting Table with the book in hand. It will output a formatted file to .minecraft/PlunderRummage/Books for you to send to me. You may rename the file if the title you want wouldn't fit in the game's book GUI.
Okay, so I went on a five stage treasure map hunt and figured I'd find something cool at the end. The final chest had six cobblestone, four bricks, two cobwebs and a minecart with a hopper... I hope this isn't too offensive but I was thoroughly annoyed. It was a complete waste of time. I imagine not all chests treasures are like that, but if a five stage treasure hunt has only that junk in it I doubt an 8 stage one is worth running around for either.
Great idea though, I love the Idea of treasure hunts and loot, but seriously, cobblestone?? Bricks?? I expected at least to find an Iron sword or something. Maybe a golden nugget or two. I could have gathered that stuff in seconds by just digging a hole next to my house. This mod has a lot of potential, especially with some other mods in tandem. But it seemed like the loot is pretty much formed randomly from the entire minecraft ID list. In two of the other chests leading to it I got a daylight sensor and 14 blocks of dirt...

No, that is NOT how it works. If you read the entire post, you will see that treasures are compiled from the loot lists, which can be created from scratch, or modified, or deleted. Read more about how the mod works and I think things will become more clear.
I would like a clearer description of how to use the maps. I'm I understanding that the coordinates given by the map is not actual in game coords? It just seems really confusing as to where to search.

After you went to the map's coords, try looking for some strange things. You may notice something on your minimap.
Forests usually have big tree with sphere leaves and 3x3 trunk, which contains the treasure chest.
Desert chests are usually marked with sandstone, and sometimes redstone on top of it.
Underwater chests are usually above 5x5 plank, or buried below trapdoors.
Plain chests are bare chests laying on the ground.
Any chests not having clues are a pain to find. Good luck digging those dirt.

OK, this is still not clear. There are two sets of coords on the maps: 1) Origin Coords and 2) Leads To Coords
1) Origin Coords - This is where the map dropped off the mob.
2) Leads To Coords - This is presumably where or around where the treasure chest is, but according to the instructions on the first page, that is not the case. I'm having trouble figuring out what the case is however...

Yes, this IS the case. The instructions on the first page state that this is where the chest might be. The likelihood of the chest being at EXACTLY the 'Leads-To' coordinates is extremely low, that is why I say might. Picture a circle with the center of the circle being the x and z values in the 'Leads-To' coordinates. Now, depending on your difficulty, select a radius between 5 and 15 for easy, 10 and 30 for medium, or 15 and 45 for hard. The chest's actual location is any of those distances away from the center of this circle, because the chances of the chest being at exactly the center is, as I said, almost non-existent. I have never, in practice, had a chest spawn exactly there.
THAT is how you can find the chest - it could be on the edge of the outer radius, the inner, or anywhere in between. The 'Leads-To' coordinates are just to give you a spot to look -near-.

OK, great...believe it or not that is much clearer of an explanation than what is on the front page...unless I'm just reading it wrong.

What I recommend is downloading the most recent version (0.4.6 at this time) if you haven't and add Written Books to your rewards list and boost the weight a bit. Default is 7, and I find a book maybe every 4 or 5 easy chests. Anyway, boost the weight to whatever you'd like, I wrote a book the other day and added it to my dropbox called Plunder Rummage [Maps]. It is 33 pages of explanations on how to solve the different maps that are currently in the game (four at this time). I highly recommend you skim/read over it and familiarize yourself, I tried to be as thorough as I could be in there - please ignore spelling mistakes and the like.

TConstruct Environment: Sane and ready for action. Bugs may be reported.

Thank you.

Quite alright, though I doubt Mr. Dickens or the author of Alladin will be able to catch up on their emails. Perhaps as a middle ground, if you can let me know how to add & format the public books, I'd be happy to put in a link to some for people to add themselves?
Feed it? ¯\(°_o)/¯

Something tells me you are using Minor Alchemy. If that is the case, go into that mod's zip file and delete com/mod/plunderrummage/api folder.

After you went to the map's coords, try looking for some strange things. You may notice something on your minimap.
Desert chests are usually marked with sandstone, and sometimes redstone on top of it.
Underwater chests are usually above 5x5 plank, or buried below trapdoors.
Plain chests are bare chests laying on the ground.
OcD Simple Add-On!
