News
IMPORTANT: I will no longer be maintaining this thread. All updates will be posted in the new topic: http://www.minecraft...100-new-biomes/ Previous News
Better Biomes has reached a total of around 50 57 biomes now. I don't intend to have many more than that. I don't want the mod to end up doing exactly what EBXL or Biomes O' Plenty does. The aim of Better Biomes is to add realistic biomes to Minecraft, and a mod that adds more than 50 biomes simply can't maintain that standard.
So I'm not going to try to find biomes to add anymore, except ones that add to the realism of the mod. If you want a biome to be added, post your biome idea with a description, and if it gets any support (or I think that it's a great idea), I'll add it. Likewise, if there is a biome that most people don't like, I'll remove it.
So, post your comments, ideas and complaints, and I'll try to make sure that you're all happy with what I'm doing to the mod.

Set the world type to "betterBiomesType" in the server config for the Better Biomes world type.
Better Biomes should work with most other mods without crashing, though it might require you to move around a few IDs with the config. Other mods' world generation (like ores) will still generate in the Better Biomes world.
Proof, using the Simple Ores mod with generation values turned up really high:
Config Guide
The config files are located at \.minecraft\config\Better Biomes\{config name}.cfg.
Biomes IDs: This allows you to change the biome IDs for each biome. If they conflict with another mod, Minecraft will not give you an error. It will simply override one of the biomes.
Colours: Do not modify this file unless you understand how it works. This file contains the colours for water, grass and leaves for biomes where I have changed them from default. They are in base 10 form. Choose a colour in base 16 form and then convert it to base 10.
Generation: Change a value to false to prevent that biome from generating. The biome size option allows you to configure how large you want each biome. Normal is 4, large biomes is 6, but you aren't limited to either.
Saplings: Modify to fix item and block ID conflicts.
Structures: Change a value to false to prevent villages from generating in that biome and its sub-biomes.
World Types: Change a value to false to remove that world type. Modify the World Type IDs to fix world ID conflicts. Minecraft uses 0, 1, 2 and 8 already.

I've tried with both minecraft 1.5 and 1.4.7 versions and they still crash the game before the main menu. Is there a certain build of forge I need to make this work? I just chose the top one for that version of minecraft. Forge works on my minecraft until I add the mod. Any way you can help?
Also the main download for both do not work for me either, but alternates do. In the crash report it even mentions the mod being the problem

Just post the error report and I should be able to figure out the problem.

If we can get this working, would you mind if I did a mod review on my youtube channel?
Tried both the downloads and found that the 1.4.7 download was for 1.5, and vice versa (whoops). They're fixed now.
If redownloading the 1.4.7 version doesn't solve the problem, try using Forge 6.6.2.534, as it works for me.
It'd be great if you did a mod review! I'll put in the OP if you do.
OK I managed to get the mod working, first of all I had to delete the forge "META inf" folder and then when I sent the file into a compresed zip folder it worked.

Proof, using the Simple Ores mod with generation values turned up really high:
Config Guide

I used to have a life... then I found Minecraft.
Thanks! More pictures will be up once my internet stops lagging...
Downloads seem fine for me.
Thanks. That was part of the idea - to keep minecraft feeling like minecraft.
If you come up with a new biome idea that would make the mod even better, post it and I'll consider implementing it if I feel it fits with normal biomes.
Error (403)
It seems you don't belong here! You should probably sign in. Check out our Help Center and forums for help, or head back to home.
Weird... sorry, I'll add alternate downloads.Alternate downloads have been added, hope they work.
Yeah, they work
And the mod looks awesome, keep up the good work!
Also the main download for both do not work for me either, but alternates do. In the crash report it even mentions the mod being the problem
Are you putting the mod in the mods folder?
Just post the error report and I should be able to figure out the problem.
// I blame Dinnerbone.

Yes I put it in the mods folder.
