With Minecrafts graphics (vanilla, not Optifine) set to "Fast" rather than "Fancy" entities render as sprites rather than 3d things. They also tend to turn to face the player.
This means, all the tools on my tool shelves draw at a funny angle, and are clipped by the toolshelf itself when not directly ahead.

There's not really anything that can be done about that. That's standard Minecraft behavior, and has nothing to do with Bibliocraft.
It doesn't seem to be a big issue, but thought I'd let you know that it seems like player's hunger bar disappears when sitting on a seat.
Not an issue, it's the new way Minecraft makes you sit, because you can't lose hunger while sitting except if you are healing naturally, Minecraft will remove the hunger bar and try to put the health bar of the entity you are riding, but because the seat is a block, there is nothing.
Love the mod. I was wondering if there is any way to configure the exp costs of converting a magic book to a plate? queued one up today that would require 160 levels to duplicate... heh just a bit out of some folks price range. Anyhow love the work you've done, very slick. Shelves are my favorite, it is nice to see what is in your container without having to open it.

I say we take off, and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I got a little behind here. I am going to try to get caught up with all these questions. I've been away from the forums and internet for a few days. Last friday my home got struck by lightning and took out a bunch of my networking/computer gear. (My modem, all my network switches, one of my computers, and a handful of other stuff all got fried). Luckily the losses where only electrical and there was no fires or crazy stuff. Luckily my main devopment computer is unscatched, though I am just finally getting my internet/network back up so I can do internet stuff again.
Awesome. So much stuff in Bibliocraft I don't even know half of them. Thanks!
Can these labels, or are there labels, that can be written on? Like the vanilla sign? But the vanilla signs are too big for chests.
No, the labels just display items. Though I am considering something in the future that will allow both items and text. It may be worth mentioning however that if you are wearing the reading glasses/monocle and you look at a label, it will display the name of the item in the label in text on the label.
I find making large-scale maps and trying to line them up with each other on the frames is rather difficult. Unlike with the small-default size, when you create another large-scale map next to another, it centres to where you created it, so they end up overlapping each other.
Anyone have tips for me to use so they don't overlap? like does it matter where the map is created? or i shouldnt go above a certain scale for the maps?
It can be difficult to line up large scale maps like that. You could probably do some simple math to figure out positions of where to create maps. When you create a map, the map is based around a center point. Think of the world as a grid with 128x128 squares. whatever square you are in from 0,0 in the world the map uses the center point of that square. Then when you scale the map up, it scales around that center. First up scale makes the map 256x256, then next is 512x512, than 1024x1024 and finally 2048x2048. So if you created a map at say the x, z coords of x=1024, z=1024 and maxed the scaling it would go from 0 to 2048 on both axis. To make a map of the same scale that connects next to it you would have to go x, z = 3072. (which is just 2048+1024). Hopefully that kind of makes sense. I probably didn't explain it as well as it could be explained.
There is a mod out there that allows you to create new maps off from current maps that will connect properly without having to figure that stuff out on your own. It was mentioned about 10 pages back or so I think. I don't recall the name of it off the top of my head, but it may be something you would be interested in, so may be worth a search.
Ya know what'd be neat? If Silverwood and greatwood planks from Thaumcraft 4 could be used to make bibliocraft blocks and had a texture similar to the tables and desks from TC4 rather then the plank textures. Although they lack slabs. Just a thought I had.
it's very small, but have you considered bibliowoods support for the Thaumcraft Silverwood and Greatwood logs?
I wouldn't mind support those woods, but as mentioned, there isn't any slabs which is an issue for recipes. Maybe if Azanor adds some slabs I might put together an addon for it. I really enjoy thaumcraft myself, so I am sure it would be something I would want to use too.
Also I've been experiencing frequent lag spikes with minecraft shutting down after a couple minutes. After some testing I am fairly sure it is bibliocraft. Is this an incompatibility with other mods? Mods:
GalacticCraft:
Damage Indicators
Ars Magica 2
BiblioCraft v 1.5.1
BiblioWoods v 1.3
Biomes O' Plenty
Blood Magic
Buildcraft
Chicken Chunks
Compact Solars
ComputerCraft
DartCraft
Ender Storage
Extra Utilities
Factorization
IndustrialCraft 2 Experimental
Inventory Tweaks
Mystcraft
NEI
Open Blocks
Open Peripherals
Portal Guns
RailCraft
Soul Shards 2
Tinker's Construct
Thaumcraft 4
Thaumic Tinkerer
Translocators
Twilight Forest
Zans Minimap
EDIT: After further testing of just bibliocraft installed, I can state for a fact it is an incompatibility.
It sounds like your running out of permgen space in your java. This is an issue when running lots of mods. BiblioCraft is compatible with all the mods you mentioned. I think Blood Magic is the only one I haven't ran with BiblioCraft.
To add more permgen space, open you minecraft launcher, then edit your profile. On the bottom where it says JVM Arguments, check the box and add this line:
That sounds... so frakkin' awesome. Goddamn that's simply fantastic! I'm not artistic and all and don't have any real modelling knowledge, but I did do some minor modelling for warcraft 3 custom content. Since what I'm after is a more blocky look with fewer angles, I might be able to do this!
(Though I do like the lanterns etc - them having many angles isn't an issue, since they're furniture details, it's more the tables and stuff I'd prefer where a little more minecrafty).
This is exciting! Thanks!
EDIT: After hours trying to learn the basest basics of blender without being able to grasp anything, I created a request thread here. I hope that was okay. If anyone else is like me, coming to this thread and hoping for blocky bibliocraft, it could be a useful link :3
As far as the thread, Not a problem. If anyone makes any model packs or anything, just send them back here to this thread with some links and stuff and I'll see about adding it to my addons page with proper credit to whomever created the new models/textures.
We need better signs. And so we went looking, but sadly didn't find
So as you might eventually add them I am here.. What we were thinking is different wood types make different signs, and maybe also stone signs to make like graves or make it look like an etching on a stone wall.. ooh, maybe a sign with no texture, but it merely puts the text laid over whatever block you place it against.. Thoughts, random, but maybe you like some of it..
Also, sword pedestles. Man do we need those!
Loving your mod though for sure.. such fun! Thanks a million man!
Side note... What's the best way to edit your saved books? I would really like to add stories to my server for my players, but I'd like to edit the signed by name to fit lore better
Signs is something I am interested in messing with. It will be after the 1.7 update before I get into adding any new major features though. Different woods is a definite must as well.
Sword pedestals is another popular request which I may try to do something with after 1.7 as well.
You can edit saved books in any text editor. You should be able to see the way they are formated after opening a couple save books. Its real simple. I just use a unique string of characters to indicate page breaks. You can find books saved in singleplayer in your config/books folder. I did this so in singleplayer, you can save books in one world and access them in another. In multiplayer, There will be a folder in your world folder called "books" where you will find the saved books.
2013-11-01 07:07:35 [Schwerwiegend] [Minecraft-Client] Using missing texture, unable to load: minecraft:textures/items/MISSING_ICON_ITEM_22491_BiblioWayPointCompass.png
Ah, I see. I'll fix that error in the next release, but for now it is nothing to worry about. Minecraft is trying to find a 2D icon to represent the compass and it finds none because the compass is a 3D model instead. I'll just need to add a dummy texture to the compass so minecraft quits complaining. It really doesn't effect anything in game, it just minecraft moaning about something is doesn't need.
Hey Nuchaz? I'm not sure if this was fixed already but I'll post about it anyway:
Last night as I was decorating my house on a private server, I put a redwood stool in front of a redwood desk and attempted to sit on it. I got an instant internal server error. Upon logging back in, I was sitting on the stool. I got off the the stool with no problems but was unable to sit on the stool again. So I broke it, placed it again and the process repeated. The same thing happened when I placed the same stool in front of the typesetting table. I did not crash from either attempt. I placed the stool in front of the research table from Thaumcraft was able to sit and get up from it with no problems.
Now then... it did not dawn on me until I woke up today that I probably should have check the 'development console' of my client to see if anything about the internal server error was written there (if anything would even be written there in the first place). But I get this feeling that it's the same kind of error that someone had with a Carpenter's Hatch (Carpenter's Blocks) and some block from Railcraft. Someone posted about that here more than a week ago, but I forget who.
Are you by chance still running BiblioCraft v1.5.0? I fixed a bug in 1.5.1 that was causing a crash related to sitting on seats and updating nearby blocks (like the carpenters hatch or the vanilla hatch). That turned out to be just a derp in the code I had made. I just tried to reproduce this crash with v1.5.1 and couldn't get it to crash. So yeah, try v1.5.1 if you haven't yet, that may fix it.
@Nuchaz, I gather from searching the thread that you're already giving some thought to different lamp/lantern metals, but in the meantime where can I find the texture to recolor it?... I'm working on a steampunk world and although the style of the lanterns is perfect, the bright yellow color is really unsuitable. I'm just hoping for some kind of quick workaround.
I am not really aware of anything already out there, but you could easily open the textures found in the assets folder inside the zip in any image editing program and change them in any way you would like. If you not all that proficient at image editing, you could just do something simple like use a colorize or saturate/desaturate filter in a program like paint.net or gimp. (Both are very nice, and free image editing programs)
Not an issue, it's the new way Minecraft makes you sit, because you can't lose hunger while sitting except if you are healing naturally, Minecraft will remove the hunger bar and try to put the health bar of the entity you are riding, but because the seat is a block, there is nothing.
Yup, thats right. If you notice on horses, that is where it puts the horse health bar. It's got me thinking though if maybe I can just read the players hunger and pass it onto the entity you sit on. While it is a block, you do sit on an invisible entity that gets created when you right click to sit and then dies within 1 second after you get back up. Its not a big deal, but it would be kind of nice to see your hunger when sitting on my seats just so you can sit at the dinner table and eat.
I'll look into that sometime just to see if that is something I can do. It may be more work than its worth though, so no promises.
Currently, no, you can't configure the cost of enchantments. You can adjust the number of books you get from an enchanted plate, but not the cost. Currently it maxes out at 40 levels for a top level enchantment. I am guessing you must have a book with 4 top level enchantments. (wow!). I agree 160 levels is kind of insane. Maybe I should implement some sort of overall cap. I could also probably add a multiplier value to the config sometime so people can tweak costs a little more. I think that would be pretty easy to do.
I wanted to ask if is there any chance of porting redIO for MC1.6.4/CC1.57?
Possibly with a another function to make them store the redstone states whenever the network is unloaded/loaded,
and when I add/remove a PC.
Thanks in advance.
I might could do that sometime when I have some extra time. It would be a direct port probably. The main reason I hadn't updated it is because I had made it for a project me and my friends where doing and that project is stuck in minecraft 1.5 because some of the other mods never updated. Which is fine really, but yeah, I hadn't really been motivated to update it because of that.
The project was a fully working and playable clue mansion. Definitely one of the more epic builds my friends and I have done. A buddy of mine made a video of myself and 3 friends playing a game of clue which just went up yesterday. I'm going to do a news post on my website a little later and try to do some promoting of the video because we are all super proud of that build and its super fun to play clue in it. So check back at www.bibliocraftmod.com a little later for a sweet video on the minecraft clue mansion.

Any updates on my crash reports? My server crashed 20+ times last night and each crash report was due to your mod. Really sad to do it, but I have no choice but to remove your mod from my server
This means, all the tools on my tool shelves draw at a funny angle, and are clipped by the toolshelf itself when not directly ahead.
There's not really anything that can be done about that. That's standard Minecraft behavior, and has nothing to do with Bibliocraft.
From his website:
"As long as you provide proper credit to me for my work(s) and have a link back to www.bibliocraftmod.com, you can use my mod(s) in your mod pack. "
Wonderful mod that I am excited to have recently added to the server I run. So far the players are really enjoying it.
Thanks!
It doesn't seem to be a big issue, but thought I'd let you know that it seems like player's hunger bar disappears when sitting on a seat.
Does this happen for anyone else?
Running BiblioCraft[v1.5.1] on a MCPC+ server build 119.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!
Not an issue, it's the new way Minecraft makes you sit, because you can't lose hunger while sitting except if you are healing naturally, Minecraft will remove the hunger bar and try to put the health bar of the entity you are riding, but because the seat is a block, there is nothing.
