i've read the last few pages.... if you're not going to do a 1.6.4 update, fine, you have every right to decline... but if that is the case, and NOTHING can change your mind... do us a solid and release the source code to someone who will update it to 1.6.4. If you're going to develop this mod for 1.7, great, we appreciate it, but if you're not going to, release the source code to someone who will. This mod shouldn't just die since you're not willing to develop it further. I am being as respectful as humanly possible, considering the fact that I do not agree with your viewpoints, perspective, opinions, and some of your comments. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Why? I know you are trying to be respectful, so I will try to return the favor. Simply put: Why should he? I know why YOU (and others) think he should. But if you REALLY are trying to be respectful, put yourself in his position. Actually read his post and try to grasp where he is coming from.
This is ENTIRELY his creation. His baby, not anyone else's. As you said, he has full right to do whatever he wants with it. This includes taking it to his grave. No one has yet to provide a valid reason as to why he OWES us an update or even his source other than "he just does."
He has made his position 100% clear IMO, so further begging is not being respectful. Quite the opposite, as it appears you won't even read his responses to the last 10 people asking for the same thing.
It's not that I wouldn't love an update myself, I'm working on an adventure map (inspired directly from this mod) that I would LOVE to use some of the 1.6/1.7 toys Mojang has added. But I'm grown up enough to know that if I want to use this mod (that the creator graciously provided free of charge and using his own free time to make) then I have to work around his decisions and stick to 1.5, not the other way around.
I'm not trying to fight his battles. I'm just annoyed enough to reset the password on my account here that I haven't logged into in probably a year to try and show him some support in his decision. That way MAYBE he won't lose complete faith in humanity and stop creating awesome things out of spite, even if that means he moves on from Minecraft and onto his own game.[/rant]
I would like to use this mod as it looks really good but I can't get it to load without crashing. I have tried every thing, latest Forge, No other mods, even tried putting it directly in my bin folder nothing works.

Just so you know, the post you're replying to is nearly a year old. I recognize that you're new to the forums, and are probably just not used to how it lists page numbers in a somewhat unintuitive way - I can see how it'd be easy to misinterpret that post you replied to as being on page 3 of 5, rather than page 3 of 56.
Whoever is reading this, just start reading the top of this page all the way down to the face-palm... The conversation is so funny XDAlso, I don't see a problem with him not updating. Frankly, I would never even update minecraft if I could help it. 1.5.2 is perfectly fine. The problem is that few other modders backport, so a mod-pack in 1.5.2 will be doomed to suffer issues from mods that have already been fixed in the 1.6 versions. So, with a heavy heart, and a bit of guilt for having to join them rather than beat them (the people who insist on updating) I must leave this mod out of my mod-pack.
What exactly IS your current non-minecraft project??? Not to be rude, but i would like to know. You know, see if I want to check it out.
Check his blog/forum website, it's a video game that seems to be based off of Starfox 64. I won't scold you for not knowing this time, since it's your first post.

I was going to post a similar thing, so I'm just going to quote it, add a "please", recognize that it's entirely your decision, and add that I don't feel that you "owe" this to the community or anyone since this is your baby.

No 1.6 version... My heart is bleeding. I won't complain, I understand you've a ton other stuff to do. I juts wanted you to know how terrible I feel. <serious silence goes here>
Proceeding reasonably well, if slowly. You can check the banner in my signature for updates, or click it for a link to my forum where I post all my daily progress.

I do have a question that can be a suggestion. Do you ever plan to add dungeons or even a dimension to the mod when and if you update it?

I'd prefer he didn't. This mod is perfect as is. It works extremely well with other mods that add dungeons and dimensions. If you've never used it, I highly recommend Better Dungeons. It's a fantastic mod that adds all the dungeons you could ever hope for

Great news! Forge has been updated to recommended version for 1.7.2. Update to .1.7.4 will be cake easy so it's very recomended to forget the wait and just develop for 1.7.2.
Man, really love the falling stars and the cool torches in this mod. Great work guy. I'd use this mod even if thats all it did. There is something special about the visuals and the sound effects that bring me back to my childhood gaming years. Hope to see it updated again some day, but if not, no worries man.

If you are tired of working in your mod, have you considered making it open source? Don't let it die, it's a great mod, many people would be sad.
