As much as I think a universal API would be good for the game, Mojang's getting somewhat complacent... Modders have one-upped their content time and time again. Just look at ThaumCraft.
If you actually look at how Laskeri's sentence is structured, you'd see that they're only saying Mojang is getting complacent, NOT that Azanor shouldn't have changed the mechanics and other game features of Thaumcraft.
Thaumcraft is getting updated 'Soon'.In the meantime, it is against forum rules to ask for updates or when something is getting updated. So please just don't - it clogs up the thread with what is essentially spam.
Angels are bright, though the brightest fell. Though all things foul would wear the brows of grace; Still grace must look so.
And by the way; Who is John Galt?
Honestly, I think the big problem Mojang has is that it doesn't EVER flesh out content it adds. It adds one thing, and calls it done. Nether is a great example of this. They added it originally... to no purpose of it at all. It has taken so many updates to have ANY value to it at all that it is sorta pathetic. T-Construct/Natura literally tripled the amount of content there, with literally a passing glance in adding a step to T-con's mid game tech tree...
The End is STILL a one and done deal where you go there once, and literally never return unless you want an enderman farm for fast xp.
Horses? You mean what they virtually block copied from one of the many mods that overwhelm mojang's content 1000%?
Or the "Redstone Update!" of literally 3 blocks that had any real redstone significance... The quartz was sadly a bigger part of the update than the redstone changes itself. And thats mostly because a ****ton of mods latched onto it as a nice easy to use nether ore for their tech trees.
Honestly, I think the big problem Mojang has is that it doesn't EVER flesh out content it adds.
Honestly I think MC is successful because Mojang DONT EVER flesh out the content they add. Minecraft is so wonderful and compelling *because* it provides so little, other than a basic sandbox in which we can place blocks.
If they added (say) a magic system, that would invalidate Thaumcraft, Ars Magica, Sorcery (and others).
It is the very un-fleshed-out-ness of it that makes it such an attractive target that for being modded. and hence gets people into modding. Which drives a large part of the games longevity.
The only mods that Mojan should try to make irrelevent should be Forge and FML - provide their own API - perhaps even an official SDK. Eventually the ability for clients to seemlessly 'synchronize' mods with the server they connect to (Allthough I can't hazard a guess as to how many modders would actually stop if deprived of their AdClick revenue).
And perhaps put a but of thought into improving the melee combat system, with weapon speeds or something - a dps based on how fast one can click is a but cheezy.
personally my response to such things is that our interest doesn't quite really allow it as much as we would think, i mean 1.6 is nearly all player wishlist content, isn't it? i really can't say for sure without double checking so that's half a serious question, i think it's less they've run out of ideas or don't finish them up, or fix up the progression that they're too busy listening to us, at least to some degree.
i mean, what happened the main time when they did fix up the progression? personally, i really saw no point in finishing the game and seeing the ending more than once, i think it's largely playing to the strengths of the title.

24 hours gone again, wasted in futility, welcome to minecraft modding, that is (unfortunately) our community.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
at least in my experience, just be very overly OCD about things that might interfere with the multiblock, tall grass will stop it from working iirc, not sure at current though.

As far as i've been able i have been OCD with it :S this version of DW20's FTB pack i'm using has a tendency for invisible non-air blocks so i've tried filling a 3x3 space with glass then clearing it and replacing it with the totems and core, but even that hasn't worked.
I've even tried suspending the entire multiblock and that hasn't seemed to work either :S
do you have railcraft installed? as far as im aware, there is an invisible, player tracing block it adds, that can mess with multiblocks.
it kept the tinkers construct smeltery from forming, for example. its been known to mess with other mods aswell. you can deactivate it somewhere in the config. it doesnt serve any important purpose.
yeah, i believe you just set it's ID to zero in the railcraft config actually, i think it does let the routing/ticket system do it's job though? not nitpicking just saying it's not totally worthless as far as i understand.

It just makes the player tracking function of the Trackman's Goggles work. Which is pretty useless, especially in SSP.
I agree with you about the Nether and End. Two whole dimensions for the purposes of potion brewing and a very artificially tacked-on feeling boss feels like an opportunity wasted. And as you say, various mods add far more reason to actually do things there. However, the redstone update drastically improved the possibilities of what can be done with redstone. It might not look like much, but the redstone block added more possibilities than my imagination can even conceive of.
The big bit, though, is ALL of the features they've added and not touched at all. Like the ability to have colored item names. And custom item descriptions. And writable books. And custom villager trades. And they haven't even looked at strongholds since they were added in. You could pass alot of that off as "It's for mapmakers and such for the stuff because custom maps", but if half of the damn updates since 'release' have been made to help third party mapmakers instead of to add more content into the game it's pretty obvious that the game would feel a bit empty. Mojang should either get their fæx together with the things already in the game or start adding actual content for the purpose of expanding the game.
IStoneI, Laskeri and Too-DAMN-Much, could you guys add an avatar? Damn, you guys always make good and valid posts but because of the default avatar sometimes I skip right past them ):

I might eventually. Largely it comes down to me not having anything relevant. I could just edit it to look like the head of my Minecraft skin, but meh.
So I'm adding Thaumcraft to an existing server. Obviously I want the world regen settings set to true in my server. However, does it matter what it is set to in the clients' configs? Does everyone connecting to my server need to have world regen settings set to true as well?
I think that each pouch should only be able to hold 2 focuses so you have to choose between what you really want, and that pouches should b hard to make so if you want to carry them it takes resources. Also you should be able to make a string of pouches that you can wear like a chest piece so it looks like you have many things to carry. On a side not, how many focuses are their? And what does the earth one do? It'd be cool if you could cause avalanches and earthquakes with it, or make pitfalls.

The clients don't, but I do have the recommendation of trying ensure 100% same configs for all users in all cases. Makes sure all issues are easy to clean up, for my server I literally block copy the config folder from the server into the mod pack's set up (assuming that is what you are using to distribute it for a server to run with the clients able to connect...)
