Dynmap has been giving me a lot of issues trying to get configured on Beastnode, my host.
.
The configuration.txt is completely unformatted, so it's basically a wall of text even with word wrap on for 1.4.6. GitHub doesn't have that file uploaded for a copy/paste anyways.
So I can't use the default 8123 port on there as the map loaded but gave me someone ELSES server. So I tried using 8222 along with my IP, still no go. Can we get the config.txt file uploaded to GitHub so I can easily read it?
configuration.txt is quite specifically formatted (its YAML, which is hyper-picky on things like indentation). If you see another person's server, and your on a host, its safe to assume someone else is already using port 8123 on the same box - change the port number, rince and repeat.
I have begun to make a list of all commands and their permissions.
After combining information from the wiki pages about commands, permissions and the plugin.yml file from the dynmap.jar I have mapped all commands to their permissions but one...
/dmap maplist <worldname>
What is the permission node for this command?
Thanks!
dynmap.dmap.maplist - I'm pretty slavish to the pattern of 'dynmap.<base-command>.<sub-command>' for command permissions.
I've probably missed this information somewhere but couldn't find it after looking for a while.
Im updating dynmap and replaced the old jar with the new one. Im now getting
"Web files are not matched with plugin version: All files need to be same version (1.3-1468)"
I understand this is because I haven't added some of the other files it needs. I don't want to have to re-render the whole world and am afraid if I add the rest of the files to the dynmap folder it might erase the current render of the map.
Where is the render data stored so that i can replace everything except the already rendered map?
I looked in /plugins/dynmap/renderdata but all I see is .txt files. Im using a beastnode control panel so it's possible that why I am not seeing the files but I can't ftp into the server right now due to a firewall blocking ftp.
I use the current version of Dynmap "DynmapForge v1.4 alpha-3" on a Minecraft Server v1.4.7.
Here I noticed that from the mod "redpower 2" the textures are not shown for the following blocks (see screenshots).
I am trying to put dynmap on a webserver seperate from my minecraft server, so I can avoid the port number in the dynmap url (thus making a subdomain for it).
How would I go about this? I have been fumbling around in the index.html, I have redirected everything back to my game server ip with the port. I get a black screen and an error "Could not retrieve configuration: not found".
Any ideas?
I do this with Apache using mod_proxy in a setup like this:
So each dynmap instance runs on another port: 8065, 8066, 8067, etc. and apache with mod_proxy forwards the request to and from the dynmap serving the end result on port 80 on my external IP.
There is currently an issue with the webchat though. Dynmap knows the request is coming through a proxy server and therefore doesn't trust the IP of the client. So instead it shows the IP of the proxy server. In the case above that's the local IP address of my webserver 10.200.13.12.
Mike is working on a feature to add proxy servers to a whitelist of trusted hosts so the client IPs(and thus their in-game names) will show up in chat again.

Hello, first of all I'd like to say thank you for making this mod. I've been using it for a long time now and its an essential part of my server.
Now to the issue that I have been encountering whenever my players or myself attempt to view the dynmap the screen is entirely black. The play icons and the spawn position can still be viewed however nothing else can be seen on the map such as terrain etc. I have tried to re-render the map several times but this has not fixed my issue. Prior to this the majority of my map was not rendering new work being done on it.
Please let me know if you can think of any sort of solutions to my problem as this is bugging my community and I wish to get it fixed asap. Thanks again!
I'd like to request that support for TerraFirmaCraft be added to Dynmap-Forge. It's a really good total conversion mod, and since exploring other biomes is a big part of the mod, Dynmap would fit with the mod's gameplay very well.
I'd love an official response to this, since TerraFirmaCraft servers really need something like Dynmap.

I really have no idea if 0.80 works on 1.4.6, but I'm quite sure it isn't supported. Please update to the current release (1.3), since that IS supported and any corrective action that may be required on my part would involve updating to at least 1.4. That said, I am not seeing any loadable tiles - can you confirm that you've completed a fullrender, and have tiles in the tilespath (default being plugins/dynmap/web/tiles ?)

Thank you for all the work for this mod
I completed an extensive RedPower2 update, for the sake of both new blocks in PR6 as well as fixes and improvements in some existing blocks. It'll be in the next release.
Dynmap sends its render messages to my chat even though I'm not opped and don't have any permissions set whatsoever to do so. How can I stop that?
It sends the messages to whichever player originally issued the command. You can reduce/eliminate the progress messages by setting the 'progressloginterval' setting in configuration.txt to a large number.
hi, im using a hungergames and i would like is there some sort of option to like save the current state of that region and just display that on the dynmap, like a snapshot. so no players will be shown there, the render triggers wont do anything. just a region that will not be updated at all.
does this already exist or can it be inplented with worldedit or something?
In the current alphas (for forge), and all Bukkit releases, you can disable automatic updating by commenting out all the 'render-trigger' settings. Once this is done, no map updates will be done automatically - you can then just do a fullrender when you see fit.
I've probably missed this information somewhere but couldn't find it after looking for a while.

Our upgrade process requires all the files in the ZIP be updated - and will not drive the need for a fullrender, so don't worry about that (only exception may be that some custom/modded blocks that were not supported previously may now be supported, so updates being rendered may look different). The key parts of the version sensitivity are the contents of the dynmap/web directory tree - these really
need to be updated in sync with the JAR, as they contain both javascript code and PHP code that is tightly-coupled with the JAR code.
I downloaded the Dynmap plugin, but something's wrong. Once I start the server it says:

the problem is that I cant open my webserver.
I use a 1.4.7-R0.2 Bukkit Server Version.
I Dont have a website, but I want to use dynmap with localhost:8123.
It would be amazing if you would help me!

Need to extract EVERYTHING from the ZIP file, not just the mod/plugin file. The specific files being complained about are the standard default texture pack files, that are under the 'texturepacks' directory tree in the ZIP.
reinstalled the plugin and I extracted everything. The log got changed, but I still cannot open the webserver.

This means its failing to bind to the local interface - probably means something is already using port 8123, or else your host doesn't allow localhost binds. You can try changing the 'webserver-bindaddress' to the same address as you have configured in your server.properties file (server-ip - assuming that that has also been set, due to localhost binding not being allowed). After that, you may or may not still need to change the port number (webserver-port), and may need to also have the port opened on the firewall, if any.
The "Dynmap" works but doesn't work for me. Whenever i go to my Dynmap: http://216.244.73.106:8123/ I get some random server.
My auctual server IP is "216.244.73.106:25568", any ideas on what i'm doing wrong?

Ok thanks for the quick reply. I will update my version of dynmap tomorrow and see where that gets me as hopefully that will solve my issue. I can confirm that I have completed several fullrenders and have tiles stored in the allotted folders for tiles for all of my worlds.
So each dynmap instance runs on another port: 8065, 8066, 8067, etc. and apache with mod_proxy forwards the request to and from the dynmap serving the end result on port 80 on my external IP..
Im using a paid host that I doubt they will allow me to go modifying Apache. I only need to redirect 1 dynmap address.
I have quite the problem... http://http://216.244.73.106:8123/ Belongs to somebody else. My port is "25568", can comebody give me some support on this issue
Hey, I had a web server on the same server as minecraft so i thought it would be great to move my maps over to the webserver to close out a port and free up some ram and CPU. I followed the instruction on the wiki. Once all said and done I open the url and got a "Cannot find Configuration warning. Please help. www.darkassassinsteam.com/dynmap
P.S. i'm running IIS7 which seems to have a common problem with this and I couldn't find any solutions.

In the configuration.txt look for:
# The TCP-port the webserver will listen on.
webserver-port: 8123
(line 254-255)
Change 8123 to the port of your choice. If that doesnt work, you will have to get your host to open up the port you choose. Some hosts leave the ports open, some dont. It is usually just an email or support ticket... easy.
I'm getting world corruption after running the newest version of Dynmap 1.4 alpha on my server for Forge, almost positive it's being caused by dynmap. If not dynmap directly, some sort of interaction with the mods in Tekkit Lite pack.
Basicly, I use a copy of my map, run a full render, it'll work once. If it trys to run a full render a second time, I get errors that there's chunks out of place. This doesn't happen if I delete the world, and re-copy in a backed up version -without- dynmap running. The chunk misplacement only seems to happen when dynmap goes through and scans them.
For the code... basicly, the first time through running a full render, I have no issues, no warnings, nothing. Then the second time through, I get this:

I looked in /plugins/dynmap/renderdata but all I see is .txt files. Im using a beastnode control panel so it's possible that why I am not seeing the files but I can't ftp into the server right now due to a firewall blocking ftp.
I use the current version of Dynmap "DynmapForge v1.4 alpha-3" on a Minecraft Server v1.4.7.
Here I noticed that from the mod "redpower 2" the textures are not shown for the following blocks (see screenshots).
- Chiseled basalt Brick
- Basalt Paver
Thank you for all the work for this mod

I do this with Apache using mod_proxy in a setup like this:
With this setup I can have multiple Minecraft servers run dynmap and serve them all through port 80 on my web server. This works great! Here are a few examples:
http://smallworld.happydiggers.net/
http://ftb.happydiggers.net/
http://skyblock.happydiggers.net/
http://towny.happydiggers.net/
Here's a snippet of how to setup apache for this:
HappyDiggers is a small Minecraft community with several different servers: Adventure, Arena PvE, Feed The Beast, Skyblock, Small World, Towny, Prison, Vanilla and Snapshot.
Running version: 0.80-1315
Bukkit: Beta Build 1.4.6
I will also provide a direct link to my website and the map: http://myriadcraft.net/map
Please let me know if you can think of any sort of solutions to my problem as this is bugging my community and I wish to get it fixed asap. Thanks again!
I'd love an official response to this, since TerraFirmaCraft servers really need something like Dynmap.
Currently down for updates, will be back up soon.
Thanks!

Awesome to hear. Thanks.
Currently down for updates, will be back up soon.
I completed an extensive RedPower2 update, for the sake of both new blocks in PR6 as well as fixes and improvements in some existing blocks. It'll be in the next release.
It sends the messages to whichever player originally issued the command. You can reduce/eliminate the progress messages by setting the 'progressloginterval' setting in configuration.txt to a large number.
In the current alphas (for forge), and all Bukkit releases, you can disable automatic updating by commenting out all the 'render-trigger' settings. Once this is done, no map updates will be done automatically - you can then just do a fullrender when you see fit.
Need to extract EVERYTHING from the ZIP file, not just the mod/plugin file. The specific files being complained about are the standard default texture pack files, that are under the 'texturepacks' directory tree in the ZIP.

nable to establish loopback connection
This means its failing to bind to the local interface - probably means something is already using port 8123, or else your host doesn't allow localhost binds. You can try changing the 'webserver-bindaddress' to the same address as you have configured in your server.properties file (server-ip - assuming that that has also been set, due to localhost binding not being allowed). After that, you may or may not still need to change the port number (webserver-port), and may need to also have the port opened on the firewall, if any.
Ah - I don't support world-specific (much less region specific) control of the update triggers - sorry. Could be added, though....
Im using a paid host that I doubt they will allow me to go modifying Apache. I only need to redirect 1 dynmap address.
server is minecraft.barebones-survival.com, dynmap is www.barebones-survival.com:5111
www.darkassassinsteam.com/dynmap
P.S. i'm running IIS7 which seems to have a common problem with this and I couldn't find any solutions.
In the configuration.txt look for:
(line 254-255)
Change 8123 to the port of your choice. If that doesnt work, you will have to get your host to open up the port you choose. Some hosts leave the ports open, some dont. It is usually just an email or support ticket... easy.
Followed by a server crash being caused by it not being able to read chunks correctly.
