Wow, is it just me or is the Audiotori fan-base lacking a little loyalty and belief, Now-a-days? Seriously, anyone who posts a "This mod is soon to be unnecessary". Why don't you all just uninstall Audiotori if you have so little hope in it?
Audiotori will probably get an update, but this might take a very long time since I do want to integrate it with the new Resource pack system in a very specific way I have in mind.
No estimated time of release, but it's not as critical for me to update this anymore since sound packs are now supported natively; I will take my time to update this correctly.
I was worried you might have announced discontinuing it because of 1.6.1. Came to the forums and found out you weren't, cant wait for the new features you may add. Keep it up Hurricaaane.
is there a way to play all 4 of them during the game or am I condamned to choose 2 of them? Also, could it work to place in the same folder 2 songs with the same name (using some tricks) so that then maybe they both could play during the game?
It is sad that we are no longer able to do this in 1.6, BUT. 1.5.2 and before versions allow you to rename such files as nuance3 and nuance4, allowing creators to put more sounds than possible.
A good example would be the Mushroom Kingdom Villager Soundpack that I made. Sadly, since 1.6 no longer allows adding sounds, I just had to include the Luigi villager sounds in my Super Mario Resource pack ((Out of the near 80 Villager sounds spanning from Mario, Toad, even Wario)).
You can also do this with sounds, like with bow, you can also name files bow1, bow2, etc. so Minecraft uses each at random. A very neat feature that I'm very disappointed that Minecraft has done away with in 1.6.
However, do you mean that I can add custom sounds everywhere by just adding a number?
Exactly. But, if there is a sound like "death" that has no number, make sure that you insert a new sound labeled "death" and then any other sound after that, just put death1, death2, and so on. If you don't modify the original numberless sound, Minecraft will still play the default sound among the modified sounds that you put in.

Quick question: Is it the original Minecraft mechanics or Audiotori that allows us to put multiple sounds into our soundpacks? Like on top of the sound chestopen, we put chestopen1, chestopen2, etc.

Minecraft mechanics, at least on most versions since Minecraft 1.5 (I don't know about Minecraft 1.6 yet but I don't think there is any reason for it to have changed).
Basically the sound system in Minecraft works with sound pools, and every file that ends with a number (or not) is added to the sound pool which name is the name of the file without the number at the end.
So, when a sound plays, it tries to play any sound at random from the corresponding sound pool.
Minecraft mechanics, at least on most versions since Minecraft 1.5 (I don't know about Minecraft 1.6 yet but I don't think there is any reason for it to have changed).
Sadly, I think it has changed. I tried to put multiple voices to the Villagers with my Super Mario soundpack ((I tried to put all of the Mushroom Kingdom Villager voices into it)), but it only played the amount that was originally on Minecraft.
Edit: That's why I was hoping that it was something that you made happen. I'm going to miss being able to use all of the sounds that I find for my Soundpacks.

From what I understand from the pieces of code I'm studying to update all of my mods (especially MAtmos), the reason why your action didn't work may be because sounds are LISTED using the base Minecraft assets/ folder, but are PLAYED though the Resource Pack system.
Therefore, if a sound isn't present in the assets/ folder, it won't try to play an existing sound from the resource pack collection.
According to the README left in the assets/ folder, it would be unwise to add any files in there.
I might be wrong. I'm just beginning studying the code (it's been 1 hour only), and this is my first conclusion from what might cause it.
I will have to address that if I update Audiotori, but it's too early to say how.
It's great that Minecraft has taken the initiative to include something so cool into their game. But, yesterday while looking through Planetminecraft.com...I-I....Oh god, it's too horrible to say. *Shivers, taking a deep, shuddering breath* I-I....*He hugged himself, trying to not throw up. He suddenly blurted out* I saw ten "Classic Minecraft Sounds" Resource packs! DX I knew this would happen and it has and is! Somebody hold me. The Waves of such unnecessary Resource packs, it's unbearable to think about!

Did people suddenly forget about Nostalgia-Craft? Why would multiple people need to make the same resource pack...

I'm trying to use r3_1_4_6 (yes I know, it's outdated) in MacOS. I have the alpha soundpack (which I love) installed in the /audiotori/ folder, but when I launch the game, the new sounds aren't there.
I think the issue is that it is looking for .minecraft/audiotori, while I have minecraft/audiotori. Is there anyway to fix this?
(NOTE: I'm stuck on 1.4.7 do to other mods that haven't been updated yet (cough RedPower))

Link to Thread for Updated versions of my Soundpacks into Resource packs for 1.6: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1873537-various-resource-packs-for-minecraft/
No estimated time of release, but it's not as critical for me to update this anymore since sound packs are now supported natively; I will take my time to update this correctly.
I hope my info helped you!
Here you go, my illiterate friend.
I think the issue is that it is looking for .minecraft/audiotori, while I have minecraft/audiotori. Is there anyway to fix this?
(NOTE: I'm stuck on 1.4.7 do to other mods that haven't been updated yet (cough RedPower))
When I put the .audiotori files into a .zip folder, it comes up in the in-game GUI, however, the .audiotori sounds don't get used.
