More of a misrepresentation - that's the cost to create a duplicated item with that enchantment using raw essence.
However, since the fabricator can be used like a normal crafting table with no essence cost, that's what you do.

I've realized you made a really amazing Mech mod, but despite everything you did, there's no download available. Are you planning to continue that mod after you update ARS Magica, or is that mod gone for good? Cause it would suck to see such beautiful codemanship to go to waste.

I think making people puzzle out the Archmage Tower secret themselvessounds good on paper, but creates more frustration than fun--
you can only be wrong so many times before it starts getting tedious, then frustrating, and then it's time to cheat out the answer with Google
Maybe a spell that can only be researched (never found), or a fourth type of Nexus constructed of End Stone whose sole purpose is to triangulate the location of the Archmage Tower?
I *LOATHE* trying to find that tower, so I don't even bother anymore in new worlds - I just use NBTE when I feel powerful enough to go get that podium.
Hopefully, when Mithion says that tower/structure bit of the next version will be different, he means that this whole "find the Archmage Tower" thing will no longer be a pita. Or that it will be completely unnecessary because there will be other ways to unlock advanced casting.
I've found two Archmage towers without even looking for them. I find that you discover things more quickly and easily that way. And it's more fun too.

This means that I need to hunt the tower; I will never stumble across it by chance (nor have I in the last six worlds I've created).
There is no spell, no other way I ever found, to track down that tower outside of NBTE. The *one* method that people agree on? Does not work for me. Either the spell simply doesn't cause the stupid wisp to lead me anywhere, or there are no wisps to use the spell on.

I mean, you've got all these spells, might as well put them to use instead of sitting in your base or mining. In AM2, it's probably going to be quite a bit less "go find the structures out there mayne", but if you're in an infinitely generated world you should probably go out exploring from time to time. Who knows what you'll find.
I spent 8 minecraft days without success trying to find that archmage tower. After that i did a bit of researching then i FINALLY found out how to get the tower. After that it took me just 4 minecraft days to find the tower (not at all hard i don't know what all of you are talking about trying to find that one tower and beating the guardians were too easy in my opinion).
Oh yeah i did find a bug with the tower guardians also: When they die they're supposed to drop a few random affinity tomes right? Well whenever i kill them they always drop blank affinity tomes.

Just what sort of things will we be able to use in ars magica 2? e.g : I know that you said that tower generation will be going away completely and that you won't be able to turn items to raw essence anymore and you won't be able to fabricate stuff anymore but what else won't you be able to use in the next update? Will there be a way to create mana rifts? That would be very helpful for us. Or do you have to find them?
Are arcane generators removed permanently? Or is it just that the version of the mod i have doesn't have it?
Oh yeah and i can't find any of your change logs anywhere

Final things I need to say:
Cleary, giving us ONE method (charm a wisp) that doesn't always work (not ever, for me) to find ONE tower that spawns in a RANDOM location in a world with NO BOUNDARIES is just plain good fun for everybody.
It's a shortcoming in MP especially, however there *are* limits on where the tower spawns. (max 10000 blocks from spawn, but in any direction). I know on one server I played on, people found the tower, then hid the podium. But in a cool little puzzle that you had to solve. Was neat!
AM2 will address that issue, as augmented casting will be unlocked via multiple means.
As a side note, since 5.52.010, every time I have tried to replicate the "wisp not working" bug, it has worked fine for me. There was a bug before where the wisp would stop 900 blocks from the tower instead of the 30 it should stop at, because, you know, I can do math.
i hate to ask this a bit abruptly but is there plans at all to be able to add magical damage resistance to non-ars magicka armor, i know i know, horrible heretic how could i ask such things when i have magic, but... i don't know, carrying around a second set of armor i never touch 99% of the time seems like quite a waste is all, i'd hope that once your magical studies are voluminous enough you could mitigate a bit more magical damage without mage armor.

there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.

Further research is showing that accessing the table in Creative Mode, which allows all spells to be "known" prevents this issue. Attempting to access the table otherwise causes the crash.
Further FURTHER research shows that the spells that spawn in the chests are different than spells that are learned in creative/from w/e setup the mod has now. The spells in dungeon/tower chests are the problem.
More research shows that this is only happening when I have magic levels from the empowerment table. If my char has no magic levels/mana, the table causes no issues. Crashes otherwise.
Here's a new pastebin. Did some more work on this issue today. It's a clash between Chococraft and Ars Magica, when attempting to access the Inscription Table. There's missing textures, and something that either Ars Magica is adding for interaction with Chococraft or vice versa is to blame. Removal of Chococraft completely solves the issue.
I'm still getting huge flickering issues. A workaround would probably be to make the mana icon and mana bar non-transparent, but I'm not a graphics artist, so I have no idea how I would go about this without messing it up.
This is a known conflict with Zan's minimap, but it could happen with other mods that do custom rendering.

yeah that's exactly what i was hoping for and/or had in mind actually, heck even if you can only get around 10-20% magic resist would be plenty enough, just sucks running into the evil casters and having to lug the mage armor out or die as a result.

Awesome, that's all I needed to hear to make me re-check the configs. Turns out! .....There's an item ID overlap. /facepalm Doesn't happen until you "learn" a couple of the spells that have overlaps with the Chococraft items. Swapped the Chococraft IDs to a different set, boom, problem solved. Thanks!
