Ladders act more like vines, you can climb them from the side, but you can also stand on top of them.

I wouldn't recommend the autojoin, but everything else is kosher.

I noticed we didn't have two very helpful mods/programs, Magic Launcher and MCPatcher HD,. I find MCPatcher to be useful, but have not tried Magic Launcher yet.

Villagers "talk" and drop items. I find them to, now, be more annoying, but at the same time also more useful.

Oh, how did I forget them?! I even use Magic Launcher! (I uses to use SK's Launcher but it seems to be incompatible with the latest Forge)

I'd rather not double post, but here is a mod i have not seen added at second glance: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/361430-132smp-smart-moving/page__hl__%20smart%20%20moving Smart moving, it makes navigating terrain very easy and one of my favorite mods.
