We started a whitelist server called MetallurgyCraft a few weeks ago, it mostly consists of mod devs and longtime stream-viewers playing with Metallurgy (and the rest of our mods) and a vast array of other mods that are meant to play off of it. Well we're starting to hit the cap on the server and its run off my home computer, severely stifling what I can/can't do with my own computer as well as the number of players allowable online/whitelisted.
So we're running a donation drive.
Every donation sent through Paypal goes straight towards getting us a permanent dedicated server. Through some great friends of ours we'll be able to literally purchase a server rack and have it handled and maintained for us for one chunk of change, no monthly costs, this server will remain up until it blows up. We're looking into running MCPC and some other systems to bring the best server quality to our users as possible with this server, we want a place for Metallurgy fans to come enjoy our mod and a variety of others.
So this is where we need your help.
Goal #1 has been met, which affords us a decent server, but since Minecraft is so processor intensive we can't really "upgrade" the server once built without replacing it all. Therefor we need to hit more benchmark goals before we can even order the server. The first goal ($300) was hit almost immediately by frequent server users and a few (really) good Samaritans. The second goal is a bit more staggering at $800, and the final at $1200. Each upgraded server tier will increase our capabilities extensively, allowing us to support more players, even more servers, and increase how many people we're willing to whitelist at a given time.
While I don't want to allow players to "buy" their way onto the server (it sets a precedent I'm not a fan of), we've come up with a simple solution for our donators towards MetallurgyCraft in the form of capes. If you donate towards our server and provide your username in your donation submission, you will get a cape based on your donation amount that will show on any server/client running KeithyUtils!. That's right, you will have a cape on any server that hosts any of our mods that run off KeithyUtils (soon to be all.) Any donation will net you a basic cape (Zinc) but higher donations will net you fancier capes to show off (all the way up to Platinum for $100+ donators!)
So we kindly beseech you, if you've enjoyed our mod consider dropping a dollar in the server fund. It'll go miles towards allowing us to bring a much better experience to our players and help us extend the reach of the MetallurgyCraft modpack to bring our mods to light and give us some much needed public exposure. Heck I'm even tempted to start a Let's Play when we get the server going.

You've done it again shadow, I love it. Eventually I'm sure my game will be diverse in all its aspects because of you XD
Some suggestions, for IMPROVED compatibility with biome mods, you should do what mo creatures did and make categories for each biome, so players can punch in the biomes of their mods and catch the right things in the right places.
Also, an adjustable fishing success rate, if possible, because I spent about a minute fishing, and I've already acquired 16 fish fillets, that's quite a bit of food.
Otherwise, good job, of course it'd always be cool to see some more fish and junk to catch, maybe take some player suggestions too! and if you're really ambitious, make rods for all the metallurgy metals
A few questions/suggestions;
- I think you forgot to incl the whale burger recipe.
- Would you want to use recipes that show pictures? (As oppose to simply text) I can def make a few recipe inventory pics if you want.
- Is it possible to add a config file that lets a user change in which biomes a fish can be caught in? That'll be really good for biome mods.
Looks pretty cool, are you going to add any mobs? It also might be cool if you could use glass to craft an Aquarium, and then combine that with a fish to make the fish appear inside that tank, and maybe be animated to swim around.
I had a few idea's for balance that would be in a config.
Time for fishing:
This would be the minimum and maximum time it takes to catch a fish, for example:
#MinFishTime = 10 Seconds
#MaxFishTime = 100 Seconds
This would make the time to catch a fish between 10 and 100 seconds.
Hunger used while fishing: While you are fishing, you slowly take hunger (While tugging and winding).
#TimePerHunger = 20 Seconds
#HungerNuggetPer = 1
This would make it so that every 20 seconds, you would lose 1 hunger nugget (or that in saturation).
Also a config to disable individual fish would be nice ;p Dem whales
The first idea I think we could do, and personally I'd like it. Would definitely make testing easier.
The second I'm unsure of, the "consumption rates" on hunger I don't want to offset by making fishing consume tons of it. I might just nerf fillets.

Also, will this mod be compatible with the GrowthCraft fishnet in the future?
I used to run a Minecraft blog, but then I took some music to the eardrums. Now I DJ as Quest the Ninja.

It would be good to have more biome mod compatibility, whether it's an API for modders or at least fish caught according to Biome Dictionary types.
