there's no actual trait to swings-hits that's why the entities have hit immunity(fade red)
it can be decreased to make weapons appear faster: but slowing it is buggy
It would be way better off taking down a stray animal, to keep yourself fed the next few days.
rather than how it is now, killing a herd of cows and having enough food to last the next century
Yeah its definitely a problem. Keeping yourself fed in the wild is one of the if not the biggest challenges when it comes to survival. Food spoilege may be one way to create balance, however it doesn't really mean anything when you can easily walk up to the abundant wildlife and gut it. Its the main reason I have used mods like Hunger Overhaul, so I can have some semblance of challenge when it comes to food.
I agree, although the same arguement could be made for many stackable items. It removes the utility of minecarts and pack mules when you can carry several tons of stone and iron in your backpack. I understand it may be more convenient to not have to make trips or figure out a transportation system however it destroys immersion when my character is a literal black hole for materials. Not to mention a limited inventory/encumberance system would encourage forethought for gear choices and discourage just packing every sword, bow, armor, potion, axe you have .... with three backups for each
Some people seem to just want something just because it's there. (I call it apple buyers syndrome). Most updates are obsolete due to mods doing a better job at it. and I can't see more biomes added doing anything until they bring the climate system back, maps would just be more scrambled.
I was hoping they would bring a climate system back, and it sounded early on like they might. Unfortunately, what they did instead was to introduce four super-biomes to represent general types of climate zones. The upside is some of the jungle by snow weirdness is gone (though that wasn't really a big deal, there are even less realistic things in Minecraft I'd like to keep). The down side is you now often have to travel a long way to find all of even the (general) biome types and the days of having many diverse biomes conveniently near by are over.
well there were first going to be new mobs fr hunting, that ran from players(using detection methods), and later on traps (like claws) to catch animals.
Speaking of traps, what do you think about caltrops?
ok something very odd, updated minefantasy on my server to the 1.8.5 pre to fix broken packets, now we have this very strange and severe bug that at a seemingly random time, everyone online will suddenly loose their food and instantly starve to death...
has anyone else found this? maby its a bug with hungeroverhawl? its only started doing this after updating minefantasy so I can only assume its something to do with it...

aren't they just pointy rocks thrown on the ground
Pointy bits of whatever (useually metal) that is hard to see, painful and slowing when stepped on. Make a batch and put them in front if your castle door to distract advancing players while archers shoot them.
The argument that mods add better things than a update is incredibly stubborn to say. The amount of background work in 1.6 as an example is huge, new loader, resource packs, and a whole change of code in prep of the mod api.
Also, people lose interest in mods if they don't keep up with the updates. As most other major mods + small will appear and people will then replace yours. So lets break it down, what do you earn by skipping an update: Nothing
Especially when you consider the factum that 1.6 made major changes to MCs background work, and therefore if one updated to 1.6, it should not be considerably hard to port that even further.

ah.. thought you ment for hunting.. that would be weird

Now stop using that goddamned argument.
aurgh.. not this again.. hey if you have a mod. you do what you want with it. And I know of the background stuff, that's why its so hard to update, and it doesn't matter to the player.
Long story short, My decision, live with it, I'm not a machine designed to fulfill your every need.

Don't think thats completely directed at you AP. If I am right, I would be more than happy to carry this discussion elsewhere just PM me, this thread has been sidetracked enough with this arguement.

Yeah caltrops would be an interesting cheap area denial tool. They were generally used to slow down or completely tie up cavalry advances since they were normally too large and noticeable for any soldier on foot however anti-personal versions did exist. As for hunting maybe it would be cool to see some snares for small game or cheap wooden spikes that break upon dealing damage.
I kind of feel stupid for saying this, but copper's spawn rate still doesn't feel common enough. The reason for this is Iron is more common than copper, I feel like copper should either be as common as Iron or more, that or you could try to edit the iron frequency. Also, do you plan to do anything with breeding or domesticating crops? that would interesting.
I use the jade knightblazer's chainz mod, it add spikes ( wooden to diamond !?!) that work like caltrops. And cactus work that way too. I think AP should disconsider that suggestion if he ever consider it at all anytime , not because of other mod but you can do it with cactus - yes its not pretty but....). I pretty sure you guys can do better in brainstorming suggestions. =P

Attack speed?
speed?
(the swing speed of the hand is purely cosmetic) doesn't effect hit rates, and it needs base class edits
What your trying to tell is that, Minecraft needs more improvement???

...iron IS more common then copper...
