Yes, the cursor in the menus will probably be the next area of improvement. You can adjust the sensitivity by using the sensitivity slider in Controls (1.7.2) or the same one used for the mouse if you are using 1.6.4.
For some reason, the cursor is slower in the main menu than the other parts of the game. So its hard to get a perfect balance.
Anyways, the best solution will be to restrict the gui mouse movement to buttons/slots like version 1.6.2... then the free-mouse movement will probably still be there but work as a backup selection mechanism.
yes i did try to swap the threshold values , didnt work.
yes im trying to do down on joypad to move the cursor up and up on joypad to move it down

thx for the reply!
I don't normally play with inverted axis. Typically in games is it inverted only during gameplay or is it also inverted in menu screens like choosing your saved game etc? How about when you bring up the container/backpack/enchanting screen and choosing items?

Also, in addition to free looking being inverted (typically the right stick), is moving forward/back inverted as well (typically left stick)?

I fixed the mod to do inversion the same as Minecraft does the invert mouse. Which only inverts the in game camera. The update is in the same link above.
I also made a behind the scenes change to how I process config files so this version will overwrite any custom joypad settings you have. Future revisions should preserve the config file.

The sprinting only works for me if I have the forward key and the sprinting key the same and thenn it is the old minecraft way (double click forward moving) which is very irritating if you use the throttle of a joystick :D. Is that supposed to be or not?
Other than that it works very good!
Thanks again for your hard work.

The sprinting button option hasn't been added to the mod yet. Minecraft picks up the double tap forward to sprint as you've discovered.
is it normal that sometime when i play with my character ,all my inventory is gone and its replace with the inventory of the second character ( the 2 character have exactly the same inventory).

Yes, that happens when you play locally with 2 players splitscreen -> open game to a LAN and both players are using the same account in the same world. Your options are to
1) Have two different accounts and log in each player individually
2) Use one authorized account and make changes to the .json file. I posted about how to do this earlier.
3) Use chests to keep your inventory separate. Dump everything in there before exiting.
4) Look for a mod/script that changes your name.
I'm thinking about adding the option to change your name in the mod but I don't know if this is possible yet.
i think ive found a bug when useing a logitech f310 gamepad and ive noticed that i carnt more forward and left or right at the same time it work with older viersions of the mod
Thanks for the bug!
It sounds like a problem with the threshold values. It gets set too high when setting the axis movement yourself and I have a fix in mind.
But until that happens, go into your .minecraft\config folder (usually %appdata%\.minecraft\config) and open the file JoypadSplitscreenMod.cfg
Look for the section that has your controller name. Under that find movementY, movementX and lower the threshold values. Try 0.60 for all of them.
For example, to change Forward look for a line like this:
S:joy.movementY-=Move forward,AXIS,0,-0.90,0.25
and change to
S:joy.movementY-=Move forward,AXIS,0,-0.60,0.25
Edit: just change the values shown in bold above.
Change the other threshold values in movementY+, movementX-, movementX+
You will need to restart minecraft and see if that fixes the issue.

It works with most of the mods, as has been said.
But basically all mods where you would have different keys like for Example Smart-moving don't work, Or work but cannot be used.
For me when I tried with Mo Creatures I couldn't jump anymore.

Some mods that override Minecraft movement or clicking like ours may not all work together understandably. we may be able to eliminate some of that incompatibility by adding in options to bind a button/axis to non standard keystrokes.
I used Joypad mod with 1.6.4 version of MC, Today I decided to update, but I have a problem :
my gamepad ( Xbox360 controller ) sensiblity is too high, and I can't set it lower than ~65%, if I do that the cursor blok and I can't move it at all.. Hope u can help me
Thanx for ur amazing mod.
Sorry if my english is bad I'm french
Yes, the sensitivity for the joypads is one area that needs some work. What happens if you set the sensitivity to 80% ? Is that still too high?

For what do you use motionjoy?
You know you don't need any other Programs for this actually, you can change the controls and so in Minecraft/Joypad mod.
Just wanted to post a thank you for all the work. I installed the 1.7.2 version yesterday for my son and his best friend, 5 hours later the most uttered words were "awesome". It installed without any problems.
Priceless
Thanks for sharing that! I originally started working on this because my son wanted a Minecraft birthday party playing with mods that you can't get on the xbox 360 version. We had 6 kids playing on 2 computers, one machine had 4 instances of Minecraft running and the other 2, using a couple monitors and 2 widescreen tvs. The party was a big hit.
i tried it with my friends ps3 controller and the program motionjoy and he cant move too. everything works (look around, fight, build...) but sadly he cant move.... =(
i tried your solution but it dont works
pls help us
I'm not sure about motionjoy and the ps3 controller. Do you need motionjoy to run on a ps3 controller on Windows?
Did you try setting the forward/back/strafe directly in the controls menu?
It might not be clear, but in the controls menu you have to double click on the slot item you want to change and then it will wait for your input.
Anyone else having trouble with the ps3 controller? If so, I will try to get a hold of one and test it out.

As long as the other mod works with Forge, it should also work with this mod.

Try changing the last value deadzone. in 1.6.2 it was set lower by default and the new version is 0.25. try changing 0.25 to 0.10 or even lower.
