OK, the lack of feedback bothers me, but I guess I have to be patient, and let the mod grow.
I also recently learned that with 1.3 comes the fixing of using ice to get water in the nether, but I discovered a workaround.
You know with toomanyitems, when you place the water block itself, it doesnt fizzle away? Is that true? I mean using the legitimate block form of water, not the bucket. I could easily add a recipe for this legit block, using lava(In a bucket) to melt the ice.
How does that sound? I hope they don't get rid of the placing legit water blocks "glitch".
I need to test my theory right now, hope this works. I still want to have auto nether farms easy to make, but I don't want to edit the ice base class, that would be sacrificing compatibility with other mods, which I don't want to do at all. And I also don't want to use minecraft forge :/

As the mod is right now i would like to see more devoloment later then maybe i'll download but you should keep on working on this because the whole mod is a good addition and idea to the nether.
Im currently working on a huge update, expect it sometime maybe near the summer. It will have these features confirmed: Craftable Ice, and water if I can. Also, contain some new world generatable dungeon. And, amethyst in both the nether and the overworld. [rare in overworld common in nether]
Also, some bits and pieces to be added in: Purple apples made similarly to golden apples, that provide fire resistance when eaten. and I want to fix the armor. I have finished it, but it's textures fail to load properly. Anyway, expect it near the start of summer. [note: it would be finished by around next week if I had the time, but Im very busy with school work.] And the mod is still under lots of development. I want to give it compatability with more mods by not editing the uk.class, but I cant without using forge, which would make things easier for me, but harder for the players, which is what I care more about.
If you stick around things will meet higher standards, so I highly recommend it. I wont quit updating either, until I'm satisfied with what the mod has become.
But I wont do it alone, keep the suggestions coming. Mod support is also allways helpful, so any LPers or TPers are welcome to help out. And if you cant do these things, just add a banner to your sig, and if you really want to support it, add a URL to your sig as well.

Going back to your thing about Forge and making it harder on the players, I'm not convinced. I mean, it isn't really that hard to install Forge if you can install ModLoader (and any mod really), and it would give the advantage of not taking up any item slots for heavy mods that use tons (like Swords+ or Crossbows).
But more importantly, if it makes things easier for you, the modder, then you should totally go for it. After all, you are giving us players something really awesome to work with. If you can make your own life easier (and potentially increase compatability), then you'd be able to complete things quicker and improve this to make something truly great.
That's my take on it anyhow. I really like the idea of this mod, and I'll likely give it a whirl next time I make a new world. For now, keep at it!

I really just dont want to have so many downloads stuck on the players, and I want them to have choice over what they use, which is why I added in the NetherTools only download as well. I guess it isnt THAT hard, but I dont acctually think the mod NEEDS forge. I really need more time to think it over. The next update most likely wont have it, but once the mod grows, I will probably end up using it. Modloader is plenty enough at the moment, a couple item slots isnt that huge of a deal at its current stage. And one of the reasons the mod hasn't been updated is school, I have finals coming up and its a lot of work.

I'm thinking about adding in a separate download patch for the phoenix armor set, since its basically done.
To use it you would just drag and drop in the class files from the patch, along with the actually version 1.0
EDIT: Eh, nvm I will probably add in version 1.1 instead, less downloads.
Oh yeah, it'll also have a recipe for nether brick added in, so you can decorate the nether room of your dreams without tearing apart strongholds, or even having to find them for that matter.
