AleXndrTheGr8st please add tools for fyrite and illuminite because it is annoying, when you have loads of fyrite and Illuminite ingots in your chest and you can only make armour and swords out of them not much of a use, so please add another use for them like maybe when you step on the fyrite block it sets you on fire, or you can make a lava wand which places lava when right clicked
also AleXndrTheGr8st I know how to code I can give you the code to make the armor effects work in 1.6.2 I found out the hard way you don't want to know
Sure if you know how to do it I would be very thankful if you could send over the code
May I ask why all the ores (including Onyx) are netherrack ores? Is there an issue using Soul Sand? (Though I love the illumenite in the glowstone outcroppings. Kudos for that idea.)

I could have generated ores in soul sand, I just couldn't find any that fit.

Yeah I had originally wondered that as well but, to think its something you mine with a shovel while all ores and the blocks they come from you mine with a pickaxe so it felt fitting to not have soul sand added. Plus if you do then what about gravel then? huh? Wheres it stop at? lol

I know some mods or at least Tinker's Construct has gravel ores. I think you might be the first one to do sand ores if you actually did them.
Actually...
You know how I've been saying that the Fusion Forge is a great way to add an alloy without adding ores and having to generate new terrain?
When I do my titanium add-on, it will be refined from sand. As in real life. Where do you think the white sand for rejuvenating beaches comes from? It will Fusion into rutile bits, which will smelt into titanium chunks/nuggets.
Otherwise, gravel / sand ores would be cool. "Titanium rich sand"? "Gold dust gravel" that smelts to a gold nugget?
Oh, and Soul Sand is not affected by gravity. I just launched my game and stuck a few blocks to walls to test, but you can tunnel through it.
Now, it's apparently new, but gravel is now found in the Nether, or at least in mine. I found one small outcropping in my Nether before I destroyed it, in an area I had not previously explored. Post-"rejuvenation", a very large patch is actually near my portal. It looks like it forms at the top of open spaces and just drapes over stuff.

You just found out theres gravel in the nether and soul sand isn't affected by gravity? Do you don't spend much time in the nether it would seem. lol Wiki doesn't say anything about being added to the nether after the nether was originally created. i know its not common but, I've seen a fair bit of it before.

Yeah I see it quite often, always have for as long as I can remember I spend a fair bit of time in the Nether though :3

No, no... I confirmed that Soul Sand doesn't have gravity. I was posting just before bed, and I was tired. I didn't want to correct someone else and end up wrong. I was actually mining in the nether earlier, and my onyx sword shows I've been there.
The gravel is interesting, though. I did not spend a lot of time in the nether because I don't need a dozen more stacks of nether quartz, and there is no stronghold I can find nearby. (And I'm tired of curious zombie pigmen walking up to me when I'm fighting ghasts. I've shot too many ZPM's in the face, which ends badly. Or one steps into a deflected fireball, which ends badly. Or one steps in front of me while I'm mining, which ends badly.) I didn't see gravel until after installing Simple Ores, and I marched off in one direction looking for the edge of the world and onyx.
When I destroyed the Nether and regenerated it, there was a massive swath of gravel close to my portal. So, either it was added since I started playing in March, or the distribution of gravel can change with re-spawning.
Anyway, with the gravels, copper and gold are the two elemental metals that naturally appear "native" (pure, not salts or oxides or sulfides or other chemical compounds). This is why panning for gold works. Given that AleXndr has copper in Simple Ores (and this may be better for the main thread at this point), "Gold dust gravel" and "Copper dust gravel" would actually be realistic (by Minecraft standards), and cool things to add to gravel outcroppings. Smelt them, and get a gold nugget or small copper chunk (or nugget). The output would be a lot less than ore, but I think it would be a cool addition.
To be honest, I WAS working on Netherrocks at that time, but since then I have lost some motivation for Netherrocks. I simply don't have the time to do the things I feel it needs done.
It's still on my list of things to do, so hopefully I'll get it done at some stage before 1.7. Thanks for showing your concern.
Sorry bout being an ass guys. Been having a bad time recently. My father passed away a year ago on wednesday, and today was Father's Day, so not exactly the happiest times for me.
But I've been working some more on the update, and have fixed a lot of bugs, etc.
EDIT: To provide a list of fixed things:
Fixed armor effects! YAY!
Added a Fyrite Pickaxe that auto-smelts items when they are mined. Still need to tweak it's durability.
Fixed swords not losing durability (possibly in last version).
Fixed the Ashstone Shovel really being an axe.
Added the Nether Furnace title to the Nether Furnace (in GUI).
Achievements are working (possibly were last version).
Repairing is working (possibly was last version).
Nether Furnace operates at it correct speed now.
Spawn rates and vein sizes were tweaked slightly.
Fixed the Nether Furnace icon (in inventory) not having the correct front texture.
Moved swords to the Combat tab.
Finished the localisation.
Finished the settings toggle to put everything in 1 creative tab.
If you have found any bugs that aren't on the list above, let me know!
Btw i've created a texture patch of both ur mods based on Soartex Fanver.
If somebody interesting of it and u [AleXndrTheGr8st] don't objection i'll upload it on mediafire in example.))
Thx 4 ur attention guys!
With best regards,
friendkiller
Please do upload it, and post it on the Texture Pack Addons thread
I used Forge Events rather than the code you supplied. So it actually cancels the damage source, rather than making them immune.
Like this:
/**
* Detects whether the player is wearing a full set of Fyrite Armor, then if they are on fire will cancel the "damage" event, making the player fireproof.
*/
@ForgeSubscribe
public void onBurnDamage(LivingAttackEvent event)
{
if(event.entity instanceof EntityPlayer)
{
EntityPlayer player = (EntityPlayer)event.entity;
ItemStack helmet = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(4);
ItemStack chest = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(3);
ItemStack legs = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(2);
ItemStack boots = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(1);
if(event.entity instanceof EntityPlayer)
{
EntityPlayer eventPlayer = (EntityPlayer)event.entity;
if(helmet != null && chest != null && legs != null && boots != null)
{
if(helmet.getItem() == Armor.fyriteHelm && chest.getItem() == Armor.fyriteChest && legs.getItem() == Armor.fyriteLegs && boots.getItem() == Armor.fyriteBoots)
{
if(event.source.equals(DamageSource.lava) || event.source.equals(DamageSource.inFire) || event.source.equals(DamageSource.onFire))
{
event.setCanceled(true);
}
}
}
}
}
}
/**
* Detects whether the player is wearing a full set of Illumenite Armor, then if they take fall damage it will cancel the "damage" even, meaning the player doesn't take any fall damage.
*/
@ForgeSubscribe
public void onFallDamage(LivingAttackEvent event)
{
if(event.entity instanceof EntityPlayer)
{
EntityPlayer player = (EntityPlayer)event.entity;
ItemStack helmet = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(4);
ItemStack chest = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(3);
ItemStack legs = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(2);
ItemStack boots = player.getCurrentItemOrArmor(1);
if(event.entity instanceof EntityPlayer)
{
EntityPlayer eventPlayer = (EntityPlayer)event.entity;
if(helmet != null && chest != null && legs != null && boots != null)
{
if(helmet.getItem() == Armor.illumeniteHelm && chest.getItem() == Armor.illumeniteChest && legs.getItem() == Armor.illumeniteLegs && boots.getItem() == Armor.illumeniteBoots)
{
if(event.source.equals(DamageSource.fall))
{
event.setCanceled(true);
}
}
}
}
}
}
EDIT: As for the update, I'm just testing terrain gen (in the Nether of course), then I'll upload it all if all is well. Just want to make sure the ores are spawning as they should be

Will the fixed version be stand-alone, or a Simple Ores plug-in?
Standalone, for now.
Please do upload it, and post it on the Texture Pack Addons thread
