No, it's not supposed to generate automatically, but that's not a bad idea either. I'll add it to my todo list.
You could always use MLProp, ModLoader's property file system. It's very easy to setup and the config file would also generate automatically. I've had no issues using it for my mod. Worth a try!
I am not use any mod.
I install [1.3.1] BetterFonts - all fine, but i can not find config file ".minecraft/config/BetterFonts.cfg" ...
I decided my problem very simple, and it works. :-)
Install: copy aou.class and betterfonts folder into minecraft.jar.
Then create in .minecraft folder "config" folder and copy into this folder file "BetterFonts.cfg" from sample.
Try using MCpatcher first on the unmodifed minecraft.jar, and then install BetterFonts 1.3.1-1 on top of it.
Have only used HD Texture and Better Font to exlude other problems
Have tried your advice but BetterFonts 1.3.1_1 is conflic with HD Texture

WOW. I have to say this is definitely one of my favorite mods now! I've been looking all over for a Harry potter font in Minecraft, and now I can finally use it and see what it's like! One thing, in multiplayer when I type something in the chat, the letters are the default font but the numbers are the changed one. This, however, is in singleplayer/multiplayer LAN and I have not tested this on a Bukkit or Vanilla server. That is not a huge problem as I have not been going on multiplayer much anymore.

Can you provide me with a link to the font? I'll give it a try myself to see what's going on.

Also, I tried going on some servers and at first I thought it was working. When I joined it had the messages in the Harry Potter font, but when I typed it was still the default font.

Ok, I know what's going on. The Harry Potter font doesn't have the less-than and greater-than that you see around usernames in the chat. So the mod looks for any other font on the system that has a < sign and ends up using it for the rest of the chat line (the same thing happens if you type a < or > in the chat line). I'll need to change how the font selection stuff works.

I don't think it's supposed to generate automatically, but it would be a nice feature. Any fix for this thvortex?

P.S. Thanks for the awesome mod. ;D

Are you installing BetterFonts 1.3.1-1 through MCPatcher's interface? If you manually copy to minecraft.jar with 7-zip or WinRAR then it should work.

Oh, thanks! I've been wondering what it was.
Also check out EasyJar! Works great with DLML.
Well, in 1.3.2, the random letters in the endgame credits aren't random, for the same reason as that one splash isn't.
Yeah, the random letters created by §k don't work yet either.
