The Planning Table may very well be the core of your operation. It is from this block that you will accomplish many of the tasks required in creating your new weapons and equipment. Here's what you can do with it so far:

If there are Work Plans for that type of equipment, the book will be consumed and replaced with all related Plans. Currently Works With - Vanilla and VoB swords
Decide a Metalworking Project - Right-click the top of the Table with a Work Plan to place it down. Now, any cardinally adjacent Forging Anvil can be used to produce equipment components associated with that Plan.
Combine Components - Right-click the top of the Table with a component to place it down. Right click again with a compatible component to assemble the two into a full weapon/tool.
Lower Shelf Storage - Right-click any cardinal side of the Table with a Work Plan to place it on the lower shelf. You can store up to 5 Work Plans. It's a first-on-last-off stack, so don't expect it to be easy to find the right Plan!

Forging Anvil
From atop the Forging Anvil, you will shape metals into equipment components. Right-click the top of the Anvil with an ingot of Iron or Gold to place it down. You can place up to 4 ingots of the same metal on its surface.
If a valid Work Plan sits atop an adjacent Planning Table and the correct amount of ingots of a valid material lies atop the Anvil, you can start having at it with a hammer. You'll know you're on to something if you hear a resounding "THWACK!" noise and see the metal begin to deform a bit. It takes many swings with a hammer to shape out metals, but don't worry! You'll never have to spend too long doing so.
Forging Anvils currently employ Dwarven Magic to make metals malleable without a visible heat source. They also do not break with use and do not obey gravity. Yay, Dwarven Magic!

Fire Boxes
Fire Boxes are simple contraptions. Right click any cardinal side of a Fire Box with a valid fuel (Log, Plank, or Coal Block) to place it in. Right click again with a Flint & Steel or Fire Charge or other such fire starter to set it ablaze.
You cannot retrieve a fuel from a Fire Box if the Fire Box is lit. Fuels last longer in Fire Boxes than in Furnaces because Dwarven Magic. There is currently no mechanical difference between the two Fire Box types.

Grills
Grills are a great way to cook food! They require being placed atop a lit Fire Box to work, but they let you cook up to four different meat items at the same time!
Wood grills are slightly less efficient than Iron Grills, taking 15 seconds to cook a meat item as opposed to the standard 10.
Oh, and be careful! If you leave meat on the heat too long, it'll burn to a crisp! You can eat burnt meat still, but it'll do your stomach very little justice.

You can enchant hammers:

- Unbreaking (I-III) - Same as other damageable tools
Note: Currently, all hammers have the same enchantability, which is quite low. It may be better to put enchants on them via Enchanted Books.
Components & Swords
Table shows what you can make and how they can combine. You cannot use components as weapons, even if they're blades.
Iron Blades are identical to vanilla Iron Swords. Gold Blades are as powerful as vanilla Stone Swords and almost as durable.
Light Blades deal +1 heart of damage (+2 damage) but have 33% less durability.
Heavy Blades deal -1 heart of damage (-2 damage) but have 33% more durability.

FAQ/NAQ/NYAQ
Why u no diamond tools?
No diamond hammers because diamond shatters. No diamond swords because not yet implemented because diamond is not a metal.
Why u no [insert other thing here]?
Because it's a pre edition. It lacks things.
You broke my world save! I loved that world!
Why would you download a pre (basically alpha) mod and expect it to NOT kill your world save? Not my responsibility.
Why are Tile Entities buggy?
Because I coded them poorly.
Why are you releasing this now?
To help find and squash bugs.
Is this AltriaCraft?
No.
Can you add [insert thing here]?
Ask me later. Also, yes Blazr, Zanbatos are still going to be a thing. Just not right now.
Why no GUIs?
Don't like coding GUIs. Ergo, not adding GUIs.
Debug Procedure
Here's what to do in the case of a bug:
1) Did the game crash?
YES: go to 2 | NO: go to 5
2) Does the crash log in [your profile's minecraft folder]/crash-reports mention anything about "ID already occupied by" or something to that extent?
YES: go to 3 | NO: go to 4
3) You have an ID conflict. Use the config files to fix the problem.
4) Post the crash log contents to this thread.
5) Does the bug involve only vanilla and/or Visions of Blades content?
YES: go to 6 | NO: go to 7
6) Describe the bug and how to replicate it in the thread
7) If it's not a bug with my mod, it's not my problem. If it's a bug with getting another mod's content to work with something in my mod, I'm not addressing that until 1.0 full release.

cool, i like it. I definitely think this is a nice mod, though i myself, probably wont download it cuz i only play custom maps which ban mods but still cool
Next update should be Wednesday or Thursday (from the view of an MST USA person). It will be either an expansion to Swords+ or a preliminary version of MidchildaCraft.
I have lots of ideas for things and I'm going to spread them out across multiple weekly updates so you get a little more stuff every week. Mainly, this is because I have my two jobs (I own my own pseudo-businesses) and college to worry about ^^

Cool, more swords with special effects! Nicely done.
Come up with an obsidian one :tongue.gif: (I know, that's passe' too, but still, otherwise Obsidian's just useless, plus it is actually a good cutting material)
Goddess Blade zelda much? is that what it is? it looks like it :tongue.gif:
Yep, I have Skyward Sword on the brain. :laugh.gif:
If you've played enough of Zelda Skyward Sword, you can probably guess what direction that mod weapon is heading. :tongue.gif:

An obsidian based sword? Could probably do. Just a matter of figuring out what sort of pros and cons it'd have. Oooh, I might have an idea already!

Probably breaks easily as a sword, but have high damage (IRL it's sharper than metal surgical scalpel, and is still used as such). Don't know about special ability though.

Indeed. Obsidian is hard and brittle. I'm thinking maybe something with a median attack power, Stone or Iron durability, but a higher chance of doing extra damage?
I don't want to give it Minecraft Obsidian physics (ungodly durability) because that's the Great and Goddess Blades' territory. But, I don't want it too brittle because that's pretty much the Ayin and Calibur blades' territories.

I love this mod!!! I have one question though, what is the seeeecret of the goddess blade?!?!?!? You can PM me if you don't want to release it for people that don't want to spoil it... But frankly I DONT CARE!!! I recommend that your next project should be multiplayer, then MORE BOWS!!! That would be sooooo EPIC! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!!

You'll have to wait until the next update to find out~ :wink.gif:
I'll look into a Survival Multi-Player version of all of my mods after I get a bit more proficient at modding. I may have to look into acquiring some help with that.
I definitely have some plans for extra bows. I'm just debating how I want them crafted.
I will definitely keep up the work! I appreciate the enthusiasm :smile.gif:

When you get around to that let me know if you find a way to do the multiple textures for the drawback. That is handled in RenderPlayer and I haven't found a way without editing base classes :*(

Is that so? That's... very unfortunate. I kind of wished I knew that ahead of time. I almost want to NOT add bows just so I don't have to hassle with it :laugh.gif:
But, I'm always one for a challenge so I'll definitely look into it later today after I (hopefully) finish a few of the new swords (I have like 10 more swords in the works, lol) for Swords+ and get the basic groundwork established for the main item of the MidchildaCraft mod (spoilers: it's called the Core Jewel).

Stone and Iron durability sounds good, but always high damage instead of just chance might be better :tongue.gif: You could make it an average durability of stone and iron if you think always high damage is too powerful.
An obsidian sword could have a lava core and set things it hits on fire. You could even make it have a set back where if you use it until its durability breaks it drops 1 lava source where you're standing that it was containing.
It could be repaired by eatting up lava similar to how a bucket works
You could have fun with it. Like placing it acts like a torch, right clicking it can drop lava out of its hp, you could let it be used as furnace fuel, it could melt nearby ice/evaporate water (Handy if your underwater and low on air), it could act as flint and steel. If it mines an ore block it drops the smelted ore instead, Or it could shoot a ghast ball.

That sounds like it should just be an extra sword - lava sword :laugh.gif:
Droping some idea's...(Feel free changing the details, I wont give the durability for the sword cause I'm bad at it)
Sun Blaze Blade: Each attack deals 5 damage with 1 fire damage for 5 seconds. The next attack will reset the fire back to 5 seconds(With the same sword of course). But, if you charge the weapon(Right click, hold) for a few seconds, it will release a ring of fire, knocking all mobs behind, deal 10 damage and burn them with fire. This ability cost 10% of its max durability. Legend says that if the holder get burn by fire, it will increase the durability of the sword by 5% per 1 health.
Craft with lava bucket core and 2 iron block
Soulsteal Blade: Each attack deals 4 damage, but absorb the life of the mobs by a quater of the damage it dealt. If a mob is killed with this weapon, the Blade will absorb its soul and increase 0.5 damage but will increase the amount of durability lost per use by 10% per soul. It will store it for 3-5 minecraft days. Its special ability is dependent to the amount of soul it gathered. Each soul will deal 1.5 damage and knock mobs back, right click and hold for 2-3? seconds before unleashing half of the soul captured in it(Damage deal as if all soul is release) and use 10% of durability. Legend says that if the holder dies while using the weapon, it will absorb the soul of its holder and all mobs in the area to heal it self.(Add 10% durability per soul-which include you). The dead holder also will feel hungry 50% faster for 3-5 minecraft days(Depend on how long the sword absorb the soul, it will stack if you die holding it again which mean you feel hungry 100% faster for 3-5 days)Also, soul which it can hold is capped at 20.
Craft with 2 block of gold on top left and lower right and the rest with bone(With tempered edge on top right and hilt on low left)
Necro Blade: Each attack deals 7 damage and have a very small chance to summon a weak zombie warrior to fight for you(Improve if the sword is use at night, dealing 8 damage, and a 30% chance to summon a normal skeleton with bow or a zombie). The zombie will have 5 health, will burn by daylight and deal 2.5 damage per attack. Its special ability is only available during full moon, right clicking will
repair 20% of the sword durability and summon a 2 Zombies and a Skeleton bowmen, they wont despawn, will follow you unless you rightclick(Like a dog) They can die, being burn or attack to death. Legend says that if the Holder dies while using the sword, he will be respawn, right at the spot he died, but will use 60% durability of the sword. If the holder dies while full moon, will destroy the sword when you respawn, and if died at new moon, will only use only 40%
I have no idea for crafting for this sword... xD
Sorry for the wall of text. Good luck modding :biggrin.gif:

Stone and Iron durability sounds good, but always high damage instead of just chance might be better :tongue.gif: You could make it an average durability of stone and iron if you think always high damage is too powerful.
Depends on what "high" damage equates out to be. Another idea of mine would be that the sword has a dismal durability on par with wood and has a slim chance of taking double or triple durability damage. However, the trade-off would be its relatively high offensive power (7-8 hearts?). My reasoning is that if obsidian is a hard brittle substance in real life, you could deal some decent damage with it but smacking it around all willy-nilly could easily abuse and damage it.
An obsidian sword could have a lava core and set things it hits on fire. You could even make it have a set back where if you use it until its durability breaks it drops 1 lava source where you're standing that it was containing.

I already have plans for a sword that can set mobs on fire and be used as a flint&steel.
I'm hesitant to create a sword that can spawn lava because I don't want to mess with the nonrenewable nature of the substance (in the overworld, I mean, since it's practically infinite in the Nether...)
Also, not every weapon needs an alt power. Since obsidian is a fairly common element in tools and weapons, it could just be an homage to the days of old.
It could be and upgrade to the obsidian sword. Since lava would melt just about anything else.
I actually do have an idea for an upgraded Obsidian sword. Adding heat to the mix could improve the sword's durability but ultimately weaken the sword a little bit.

The first idea sounds difficult to implement. I have a fire-related sword or two in mind already.
I could feasibly implement a sword that heals you a little bit on damaging a mob. It wouldn't be anything fancy like that though.
The final one sounds like a real coding pain. I'll keep it in mind for some far future date, though. For when I'm more proficient with the whole writing mods thing :smile.gif:

May you click that plus for me?
Next update should be Wednesday or Thursday (from the view of an MST USA person). It will be either an expansion to Swords+ or a preliminary version of MidchildaCraft.
I have lots of ideas for things and I'm going to spread them out across multiple weekly updates so you get a little more stuff every week. Mainly, this is because I have my two jobs (I own my own pseudo-businesses) and college to worry about ^^

Come up with an obsidian one :tongue.gif: (I know, that's passe' too, but still, otherwise Obsidian's just useless, plus it is actually a good cutting material)
(Warning: series may be NSFC [Not Safe For Church], viewer discretion is advised)

It could be and upgrade to the obsidian sword. Since lava would melt just about anything else.
Depends on what "high" damage equates out to be. Another idea of mine would be that the sword has a dismal durability on par with wood and has a slim chance of taking double or triple durability damage. However, the trade-off would be its relatively high offensive power (7-8 hearts?). My reasoning is that if obsidian is a hard brittle substance in real life, you could deal some decent damage with it but smacking it around all willy-nilly could easily abuse and damage it.
A lava sword sounds terrifying. How do you hold a sword made of lava? :tongue.gif:
I actually do have an idea for an upgraded Obsidian sword. Adding heat to the mix could improve the sword's durability but ultimately weaken the sword a little bit.
The first idea sounds difficult to implement. I have a fire-related sword or two in mind already.
I could feasibly implement a sword that heals you a little bit on damaging a mob. It wouldn't be anything fancy like that though.
The final one sounds like a real coding pain. I'll keep it in mind for some far future date, though. For when I'm more proficient with the whole writing mods thing :smile.gif:
