I was thinking. For your 1.7 update maybe you can have your NPCs able to mount horses, or make a model with a mounted person. So cavalry becomes an option for players to make. Unless this can already be done than could you say how to do that?

On my server my npcs keep getting deleted, and never respawn. It happens when my admins use /butcher -a (worldguard, -a means animals i believe) and /stoplag.
I don't mind the npcs getting killed, but they don't respawn like they should. Now I started making backups of the customnpcs folder but it doesnt work when I use the backups.
Last night I woke up and no one used any commands, but all npcs are gone and the backups don't work. Anything you can do to fix this?
The 1.7 update will possibly take a while before its ready. LexManos made a pretty nice post explaining why. I suggest you read it. I suspect that there might be a possiblity that all modded entities, blocks and items might be lost in existing worlds. Just a heads up incase this happens that you all arent surprised. This is caused by minecraft, the forge guys are not to blame for this.
Basically in this update 80% of the code changed and this is done to get ready for the official mod api. In 1.7 block, item and entities will probably not conflict anymore, which would also be the main reason why they would dissapear in existing worlds. Again this isnt a 100% certain until I get my hands on an actuall updated forge, but it can happen.
I suspect forge updates in about 2-3 weeks so it might take a month before I can even start updating. Im probably going to release an update before that, because Ive been working on two new roles the boss and mailman roles and Im almost done with those. Ive also got a bunch of new skins and voices that people submitted which will also be added.
I hope this will inform people enough and again its not certain that all npc will be lost, but I suspect it might happen. Ofcourse Ill make sure all cloned npcs are safe and you wont loose any dialogs and quests either I can guarantee that. If any more information becomes available Ill let you guys know.

Oh god, that is horrendous. I have spent more than 700 hours (literally) on my educational world, and there is no way I could go back and replace every single NPC in the world. No way. I would just simply never, ever update Minecraft past 164. That would be quite unfortunate, but would have to happen.
If you find that this will indeed happen. I would BEG you to make some sort of small tool that would read a map, and convert all entities to the new version numbers. An external tool that would change the numbers in the data files. Surely something like that COULD be possible, right??
That usually happens if you have more mods installed on your client as on your server.
I had a large number of mods, but I've narrowed it down to just custom NPCs and Doggy Talents. Something between them aren't *always* compatible. I'm guessing it might be some sort of entity ID conflict, but I'm not sure.
When I try to create a doggy talents dog I get the following 2 lines in the log:

The problem with item quests is that if you want a special item delivered, you have to make a dialogue quest before the actual quest, to give them the item they should be bringing to the other npc, as a reward. Not that it's that much of a problem, but it would be easier. About escort quests, I really have no idea what I'm talking about, this might be impossible to do, but just a thought: you could make the npc following you be a 'different entity' than the standing npc, then after you make them follow you, the new npc will spawn when the respawn time is over (as if it died), and when you're done with the mission the npc following you would disappear?
For escort quests, it could make a marker system that you take the NPC through (via a coordinate map). The NPC should have health, so it can check their health as you go through the checkpoint.
Also the NPC's have names and ID's as far as I know. If not, they should. This would allow NPC tracking for quests.

I didn't see this on the to-do list, so I figured I'd offer up a feature request! I'd love to be able to make npcs that behave similarly to spouses in Minecraft Comes Alive. As a hardcore option, children produced with the spouse will act as a way to survive death.

Please, please, Noppes, find a way to work this around when you update. I couldn't care less about 1.7, but people tend to abandon the server if it's not updated. And your mod is the main reason I even play Minecraft...

this is one of my favourite mods, it is very good but i need it in 1.7 ;(
No mods will update to 1.7 until at LEAST the middle of December. Forge has had to be re-written and they say it will take them a month, plus the time it takes Noppes to update his mods... or any modder for that matter. You will just have to be patient. :/

I don't even know for sure that it is an entity ID conflict. Doggy talents doesn't have anything in the config to change entity IDs. There are a couple of lines in the custom NPCs config, but that didn't seem to help much either.
For now I've disabled doggy talents, but I'm still hoping that noppes or someone here can help me out because I'd really love to run both of these mods.

1: bug: when /gamerule mobgriefing is false. and an npc shoots a projectile that explodes and applies fire.
the explosion doesnt break the ground. but it still spawns fire. making it possible to burn an entire forest down
2: new job: support
applies set effects to allys that are fighting
or applies negative effects to enemys that fight with allys
3: passive effects:
passive potion effects npc's always have. like invisibility. so you can make ghosts
4: bug:
projectiles dont apply their effect when their damage is 0
5: bug:
projectiles that travel very slow dissappear 1 sec after shooting
Solution to your fire problem set the gamerule doFireTick to false!!!

In case anyone else is googling the same issue I had - Finally heard back from the developer of Doggy Talents. Its confirmed to be a bug in the DT 1.5.2 version. Already fixed in DT 1.6.2.

Which menu are you looking for? Have you tried getting the NPC wand (lookes like a hoe) and right clicking the ground? If that's the menu your looking for, it should open automatically after you do that.

No mods will update to 1.7 until at LEAST the middle of December. Forge has had to be re-written and they say it will take them a month, plus the time it takes Noppes to update his mods... or any modder for that matter. You will just have to be patient. :/
I don't even know for sure that it is an entity ID conflict. Doggy talents doesn't have anything in the config to change entity IDs. There are a couple of lines in the custom NPCs config, but that didn't seem to help much either.
For now I've disabled doggy talents, but I'm still hoping that noppes or someone here can help me out because I'd really love to run both of these mods.

In case anyone else is googling the same issue I had - Finally heard back from the developer of Doggy Talents. Its confirmed to be a bug in the DT 1.5.2 version. Already fixed in DT 1.6.2.
Which menu are you looking for? Have you tried getting the NPC wand (lookes like a hoe) and right clicking the ground? If that's the menu your looking for, it should open automatically after you do that.
