This looks extremely good and promising, good work.
However, am I correct in assuming that these metals will be added only in a much later patch (after you converted your system to use damage value meta)? I'm merely gauging to see whether I should wait a little longer for this very good expansion, or should just start the server with my friends with 1.2.3b.
By the way, I asked around, and a friend who likes mining is really fond of your level-system (though he hasn't tried it yet), so I'm guessing the concept is good. A few more tweaks, especially if you're going to add hundreds of new kinds of ore, would be nice though.
Fantasy or Nether Metals will be out in 1.3, maybe both. From there it might be a submod an update.(i really hope so anyway)
I cant, for the life of me, figure out what to mine after getting copper, i cant break any more ores except coal and stone... How am i supposed to get tin to make copper?

Tin is pretty common, you mix Tin and Copper to make Bronze

Yes, this is the main reason I want Metadata, because here's a simple breakdown to give an example.
Every Ore uses 2 block IDs currently, one for Veins, one for Bricks. Alloys only use one, for bricks.
So my mod (as of 1.2.3b) uses 24 IDs, which is a nightmare. Once Metadata is I can implement up to 16 Blocks in a single Metadata, so this is the layout I'll be using.
Base Metals Veins
Base Metals Bricks
Base Alloys Bricks
3 IDs for each full set of metals, there can be up to 16 per slot, so that means I can have up to 16 Metals AND 16 Alloys per set without ever having more than 3 Block IDs in use.
Here's my example layout and how many of each metadata is going to be filled.
Base Metals Veins (4)
Base Metals Bricks (4)
Base Alloys Bricks (4)
Precious Metals Veins (4)
Precious Metals Bricks (4)
Precious Alloys Bricks (1)
Nether Metals Veins (8)
Nether Metals Bricks (8)
Nether Alloys Bricks (3)
Modern Metals Veins (10)
Modern Metals Bricks (10)
Modern Alloys Bricks (7)
Fantasy Metals Veins (9)
Fantasy Metals Bricks (9)
Fantasy Alloys Bricks (6)
This means for 15 IDs you can competently use wayyyyy more metals than you currently get from 24 IDs in my mod now, and that's if you choose to use every single metal mod. Also since the metadata slots aren't filled, I have so much room to expand each individual submod even more (especially with Alloys!)
I'm having some issues where there are two types of ores where one is extremely hard to mine and the others seem normal. Not really sure what this is about. This mod and the required mods are the only things I have installed. I didn't have this issue a month or so ago. (just recently happened with iron)
Typically it wouldn't bother me very much it's just the fact that they don't stack so it takes up even more inventory space having multiple ores taking 2 slots each.

Is this intended for something or is it a bug?
Something in either Forge or ModloaderMP is causing GenerateSurface to act up, and its causing Notch's old Iron/Gold to still spawn with their old mining levels. Now that you mention it I can override them just to be sure in the next patch, so at least they'll be equal with mine in mining level.
Yea the Silver Tin mixup is one I myself still make from time to time.. lol

If there's such thing as an SMP, there has to be an SSP. Therefor, yes, there is an SSP version.

Install Modloader, install ModloaderMP, install Forge. Whats so hard about that?
That is an issue with the forge mod. They have a fix somewhere in their thread.
Non-Forge version isn't possible at this point, so no.
