ok so i have just a quick question. Can this be used on a server, because i didnt see 2 diffrent mods. i would assume that you could just use the aether mod for both server and client since i cant think of any thing that would need to be changed in the server that dosent need to be in the client or vice versa, but i only know basic programing.

Nope, no SMP yet.

Sheep Puff Spawns are very low (and spawn at night mostly)
Flying Pig spawns are very low
Regular Moas only spawn at night or in dark spaces (and rarely in day)
Zephyrs EVERYWHERE (Too many)
No Acheor Plants AT ALL
Its a problem with the spawning system, aerwhales take up all the spawn slots, not allowing anything else to spawn, after a while, you will only see aerwhales, and no zephyrs!
You've completely missed the point as well. You're also preaching to the choir. I've been defending the makers of this mod for days.
Yes, I am grateful that they've developed this mod. Right now, even with the bugs, it's still great, and there's obviously lots of potential.
They don't need to be on the forum all the time, and this has nothing to do with them not being finished with the update. The problem is that they're delaying an update fixing CRITICAL features to add new content. I'm not here saying, "WHERE MY UPDATE U GUYS R FAGGOTS GIMME NOW!" I'm saying that, from a developer's point of view, delaying a patch that fixes very important bugs in order to add new content is an extremely amateur thing to do. I'm not asking that they keep us informed of their every move; I'm asking that they think their release schedule through a bit more. What I'm saying IS truthful.
Futhermore, saying that people should only say nice things is, well, ignorant. That's something the autists on DeviantART do. You have to take the good with the bad. With suggestions inevitably come criticism, which isn't a bad thing. You need to know what you've ****ed up, or your software is never going to improve. If you're so thin-skinned that you can't take some criticism, you shouldn't be doing software/game development.
While, yes, many of the posts here are whining about the same thing over and over again, that has nothing to do with what I said, and it has nothing to do with the modders making a mistake with their release schedule.
You're right, no one made me install the Aether. But the truth is, right now these modders are something of celebrities in the Minecraft community (not to inflate their ego). And like any such person, they have a responsibility to their "fans." We've put our faith in them with a huge number of downloads (not to mention the cash from Adfly they've no doubt generated), and they at least owe us some responsibility.
YOU'RE the one missing the point here. The fact is, they have every right to simply leave the Aether as it is and say "Screw you" to all the people wanting an update to the mod. They don't HAVE to do anything! Would it be a good idea for them to update it and fix some the bugs plaguing a lot of people here? Yes, it would, it would show that they care about their "fan" base, if you will, and want to keep the mod going.
But they don't have to do anything. They can watch people like you whine and troll and complain all day and laugh at you. Sure, they make a little (and by little I mean LITTLE) money off ad.fly, but the fact is they wouldn't be making that if you didnt' download it, now would they? Chill out and just let them do what they want to do. No need to start sounding like a self-entitled brat.

I haven't missed the point, life happens and deadlines sometimes don't happen as expected. When you're a dev working with a team, just because your part of the project is good to go doesn't mean that everyone else is 100%.
That's just the thing. There's 5 people on this project, and there's nothing stopping them from releasing one part of an update without the rest. New mobs have next to nothing to do with the existing mobs' spawn rates. They only affect each other by proxy.
As I've said before, delaying a critical bug fix to add new content is an amateur move. We've given them support, we've given them recognition, and they've made a little cash. I'm not saying they owe us all their free time. I'm not saying they should bend over backwards for us. But they're obligated to act responsibly. This is irresponsible.
Hey modders, I don't blame you if you want to delete these 600 pages of complaints. But I do mind the delay of the bug fixing release to add a new feature (Which might add another bug, BTW). These bugs are GAMEBREAKING MODBREAKING!!
PS: Why hasn't the main page been updated for about a week? Simply list the known bugs, and inform everyone that a patch is on the way.
TL;DR:
A simple "Hey, everyone! A patch is on the way very soon, Here's the fixed bugs:..." on the OP would calm people down...

Stopped reading there.
Just because someone has a different opinion that your own does not mean they're a troll.
Darn. i was making a server and was downloading planes server from flan when i noticed this thing on the top of the page about flan being on vacation and him working on aether. this mod is amazing, and i was hopin to also put in the server but no such luck i guess. i shall now diligently watch this page for more updates lol. (o yeah, downloaded.)
Has anyone ever seen blue or gold clouds? In the pictures, a see many blue clouds, and gold, and I havent seen not even A SINGLE one.
The blue coulds can be obtained from the blue slimes, but I know what you mean.
I was watching a pre-release aether playthrough, and lots of bugs that exist now were'nt in the video. I don't know what happened. They are releasing a patch soon BTW.

The point is that they've made money from this free mod.
And I never even implied that it cost me a cent, but the truth is we have given them something.
This is the last bit I'll respond to as was mentioned earlier, its off-topic. You're incorrect, they owe us nothing. No matter how you see it, they don't. They've made a tiny bit of cash between the 5 of them. Given us an experience that has helped prolong the lull between 1.7.3 and 1.8 whenever it arrives. If they just walked away from the project until after 1.8 drops so they'll have access to the proper API and be compatible with the latest version of Minecraft, that would be perfectly alright with me, and I'm sure quite a few others. What bug are they delaying the fix of that is critical? I mean seriously? Moas despawning is annoying, but really, that is about as extreme as it gets. If you wander too far from home and can't find your way back because you were recklessly floating about on your moa, use coords to get back home. Responsibility plays no part in this. This is an unofficial add-on to a game that doesn't even have a proper modding API, is free, comes with a waiver that you're on your own past what they give you in the thread.
If you have a problem with the devs not being 'timely' then that is just sad sack suck for you. Deal with it. You WILL get an update, and it will come whenever they decide to release it.

Hello, I just joined the forum. When I first installed the aether it was working perfectly, but now i'm getting extreme amounts of lag and can't even move in the aether. When i got to the nether or surface it's fine but the aether isn't working. if you can help please send me a message and/or post here.
Ps: I have modloader, audio, shock & the aether installed correctly (i watched the video a few times to make sure :tongue.gif:) will i have to reinstall them?

It might just be the computer your using. If your using a laptop, or an older desktop, then there's your problem. My suggestion is to try the Optimine + Optifog mod and see if that helps.
very strange, because it happen sometimes for me that i become massive lag for no reaseon (the game wasnt generating new terrain or something) but after at most 30 seconds everything becomes normal again. maybe you should try and stay in the aether for some time, and it may become normal again?
i'm trying to, i've been in for 10 minutes now and nothing has changed. although a while ago i quit minecraft, and when i loaded my world up again i wasn't in the aether (where i saved) but at my spawn. (still had all my items) I'll re-install everything if it doesn't get fixed by tomorrow. I've also restarted my computer multiple times and nobody else is using the internet so idk why it could be randomly lagging. Everything is as smooth as it can get at the surface though.

Yup, i have that. Only lagging in the aether and minecraft has never lagged for me, until it started half an hour ago.
