Ok, I was figuring that was the case, but usally it states that the mod is looking for version 1.x.x if it not the correct version. Guess not this time. I was really hoping to use this mod. Does anyone know an alternitive for 1.6.2? I have searched quite a bit and found nothing for my version. The only thing I'm really looking for is wiring. I want to be able to go up a wall with the wiring. Thanks!
Red power keeps crashing minecraft! I have 26 other mods and they all work fine together, but as soon as I added this, it crashes. I have re-downloaded it twice to make sure it was corrupted, re-installed minecraft and a few other things. Here is my crash report, I tried to find out what it was, but I can't understand it. Sorry, I'm not to good with java, yet. Any help would be greatly appreciative. Thanks in advance.

I want to be able to go up a wall with the wiring. Thanks!
there is an alternative mod, but it does not behave like RP2 wiring, it only has bundled cable alternative.
For me the lack of RP2 has only affected my plans in 1 way: lighting
There is currently a little bit of RP2 in my base (well beside the mass's of inverted lamps) but those can be replaced with alternatives
Of the current alternatives none provide light sources with the same light level, for the environment I live in.
I have 1 block that will prevent mob spawns in roughly the same range I fitted multiple lamps for but it also prevents villager breeding.
One of the reasons Eloraam hasn't posted so much is that despite most people liking the mod many people kept bugging her about updating the mod.
You could start with RedLogic, a reimplementation of redpower-style logic gates, wiring (behaves fine from my perspective) and lamps done by immibis. From what I can tell *almost* all of the gates known from rp2 are there and it is 1.6.
There is also this guy, who has taken immibis's code and is planning to build a complete replacement of all features of the mod. For now he has already added some microblocks and various tools. This is still 1.5 though.
If you only care for logic you could stop here, if you want to replace as much as possible, there are already alternative options for world-gen, frames and microblocks.
It's beyond ETAs... It's clear that Eloraam has NOT been working on RP- I can cite references to prove this point. Actually I have... review the thread. (/add: And it's OK.... She has a life, I get it... but there are alternatives to this... many, much better alternatives.)
I think the closest you could come is "There have been times when Eloraam was not working on RedPower whereas most people here thought that she was, therefore she might not be working on it now". Can you really prove that Eloraam has done no work on RedPower in the last 3-4 months?
thermal expansion has liquid glowstone lamps which can be always on, always off or triggered, and can be dyed to all standard colours (still only white light tho)
I know but they only have a light range of 5-6 blocks, for my tree farm which provides fuel for my home's primary powerstation I need a lightsource that can reach 7-8 blocks (in each direction),this to prevent endermen from spawning when the trunks shrinks when being cut by the 2 steve's cards operating the farm.
The Magnus torch from extra utilities will indeed mobs from spawing and might be a solution for the farm but not for the villages I plan to build since the torch prevents the breeding of villagers.
I can't risk the villages to not have lights cause the endermen would dissasemble the enviroment for my villagers rather quickly.
Now wondering why I'm specific on endemen that's because I live in the END,on a spacestation I'm building
Can you really prove that Eloraam has done no work on RedPower in the last 3-4 months?
No. I can't. For all I know Eloraam could be hard at work doing a complete rewrite in preparation for release as RedPower3. I can, however, provide enough evidence to build reasonable doubt...
Quote@TheRealEloraam;19 Feb - So I got pulled into the office for a couple weeks, they needed me back after the time off I took for PR6. That's over now... ...Back on RP full-time now. Lots of surprises coming, but first, I'll likely be releasing a new bugfix for 1.4.6 and a port to 1.5.
Quote@TheRealEloraam;17 Apr - So about vanishing... work project got crazy and burnout hit me. Things seem to be settling down, but I don't want to jinx it this time. So 1.5 isn't as bad as I'd expected, a lot of damage in a couple specific areas but overall most of the code compiles. (re: effect on redstone) There'san effectbut from what I've seen so far, not too badly. Inventories and textures have changed a lot though.
Quote@TheRealEloraam;11 Jun - There's no problem with FTB distributing RedPower, I like that modpack. I haven't forgotten about the update, either, just slow going.
So... Summary of the last... 6? months... "I had some time ~5 months ago, but it didn't last because of work and lack of desire. Neither the update nor 'port' (port isn't even the proper terminology) happened. But 1.5 didn't totally wreck the code, even the effect on redstone was minimal and a good portion of the code still compiles without blowing up the error window. But I haven't forgotten."
Actually her tweets prove the opposite. She thought about it, and not all programming is done at the keyboard, most of it,designing and planning, happens in your head.
Really? I mean seriously? "I haven't forgotten"\"Burnout Hit" != "I'm mentally working out how to program Function X".
you have an amazing mod Eloramm, but when i try to install it in 1.4.7 i get this error message and i know its a bit lengthy after the code.

the reason i posted that previous is because the redpower core was unloaded and errored in the crash report
First, use spoilers: [spoiler]Error Log goes here[/spoiler]
And the crash is because you used Notepad to edit the config. It breaks its formatting. Delete the config file, so that it may be gnerated again, and then use some other editor to edit the config. Wordpad or Notepad++ work well.
[ re: porting, see below. ]
so, your actual summary is "she has worked on it..and is still pondering about it" you mean...else she wouldn't have known about the compile situation
which seems to contradict your whole point... i.e.
It's beyond ETAs... It's clear that Eloraam has NOT been working on RP- I can cite references to prove this point.
"prove" isn't even the correct terminology ... "create conjecture about" is - you didn't provide anything which proved your point... just because you haven't seen her say she is currently coding code for RP doesn't prove she isn't... and her own words state "she hasn't forgotten" ... why would she bother saying that if she's "dropped the project completely" ? [that's a rhetorical question - as of course, the answer is, she wouldn't]
basically, we still don't know anything beyond what she's said last "she hasn't forgotten about it", and yet people are still to-ing and fro-ing about whether that means she's exploded in a shower of logic or not... who knows... we don't.
i still don't get why people who obviously only post here to simply rebuke the idea that redpower is ever going to update [or why they should be able to steal a programmer's code] still post here... we've all done this to death...
i'm not trying to "prove" that there's an imminent release - i'm simply saying that the discussion is worthless, again, like has been said before, the only thing we know is that she hasn't forgotten and she has done [some -albeit perhaps minimal] work in porting* to 1.5.2
i, personally, tend to believe that it will come out "eventually" [and i don't care on eta] - but that's my personal opinion, i have no proof, nor does the opposite view... but if eloraam stops developing it, i reckon we'll all get told... she may be slow to update when over worked and stressed... but i'm sure if she finally threw her hands up she'd be glad to tell everyone asap, just to take the weight off her back...
let's stop digging over the same ground...
oh, but since i've been in this industry since the 80s, and i know what terminology is on these things i should note, porting has many meanings... eloraam chose one of them...
* In software engineering, porting is the process of adapting software so that an executable program can be created for a computing environment that is different from the one for which it was originally designed (e.g. different CPU,operating system, or third party library) [wikipedia]
edit: actually - there should be a separate thread in the "off topic" forums for discussing the mere existence or not of eloraam... it seems to be as deep as most philosophy
Is there anywhere I can put suggestions or shall I just do them here?
you can do... but check the wiki first http://integratedredstone.wikispaces.com/Collected+Wisdom and the FAQ, and the EAQ - to make sure it's not already a closed-door - but there's no harm in posting an idea, as people here may have alternatives
and note that she may or may not read this thread... or, as eloraam's way goes... ever implement anything other than what she wants
Is there anywhere I can put suggestions or shall I just do them here?
The only place that I've seen Eloraam reply to users recently is on Twitter. But if you post it here, you could get some feedback from other users as to whether your idea is a good one.
I would much rather see a simple compatibility update to 1.62 than see a bunch of new features.
There are plenty of other mods that can handle the simple aspects of storage and transport, such as AE (applied energistics) or even buildcraft and logistics.
Its the neat wiring and gate items that redpower brings that to me is most useful, without it it makes doing complex machines and wiring tiresome and frustrating.
No. I can't. For all I know Eloraam could be hard at work doing a complete rewrite in preparation for release as RedPower3. I can, however, provide enough evidence to build reasonable doubt...

Have you seen how old those tweets are? Over a month away. I am not saying Eloraam isn't working, but she could at least give us an update now and then... it really isn't that hard to do. Oh, I can go on someones twitch and find out some things? Oh, cool, but I don't want to watch something for 6 hours just to hear something I could read in 2 minutes. All I am saying is I would like to know what is happening.

She not do this in past then why she will change mind now. I personally fine with current way. I will understand if real life win in fight with hobby project, but I will be glad see new RedPower release.
There's your problem. You're trying to use this mod in 1.6, when the topic clearly states it's only for 1.4.6
Kay, simple your trying to use a mod for 1.4.7 with 1.6.2 uninstall it, it's not ready for 1.6.2

Vec3 Pool Size: ~~ERROR~~ NullPointerException: nullthe reason i posted that previous is because the redpower core was unloaded and errored in the crash report
Its not exactly incompatible, but just doesn't like idresolver re-assigning the IDs (or something like that).
[ re: porting, see below. ]
so, your actual summary is "she has worked on it..and is still pondering about it" you mean...else she wouldn't have known about the compile situation
which seems to contradict your whole point... i.e.
* In software engineering, porting is the process of adapting software so that an executable program can be created for a computing environment that is different from the one for which it was originally designed (e.g. different CPU,operating system, or third party library) [wikipedia]
edit: actually - there should be a separate thread in the "off topic" forums for discussing the mere existence or not of eloraam... it seems to be as deep as most philosophy
you can do... but check the wiki first http://integratedredstone.wikispaces.com/Collected+Wisdom and the FAQ, and the EAQ - to make sure it's not already a closed-door - but there's no harm in posting an idea, as people here may have alternatives
and note that she may or may not read this thread... or, as eloraam's way goes... ever implement anything other than what she wants
The only place that I've seen Eloraam reply to users recently is on Twitter. But if you post it here, you could get some feedback from other users as to whether your idea is a good one.
