MCP (the program that lets me mod...) is having some issues decompiling the new version of minecraft, so I have to wait for them to figure it out... and my dad says I have to mow... which happens to be ~five acres... so I'll be checking in as often as possible to see if I can fix it yet, and multiplayer has some bugs, i'm not sure if its all the way up to 1.6.4
and for those of you above who asked, the way this is programmed, and the nature of what it does, it can't be coded into modloader :sad.gif: or bukkit :sad.gif:
while waiting for the MCP update, so I can update my mod, I decided to play minecraft and the new patch.
I felt a lack of adventure knowing I could find anything I needed right under me, knowing I would never find enough iron in days worth of playing to make tracks and for it to be interesting, knowing that even if I got that far it would not take me anywhere important, knowing that I didn't have my mod that added a reason to use maps and exploration, that adds enough supplies to to do stuff, and adds places to find.
so I stopped playing after 30 minutes or so...
and so now I am telling you this while I wait :wink.gif:
hope you all enjoy, and thanks for waiting, MCP took a little bit to update.
I will try to update any weirdness typo stuff in the main post, I was trying to change the description to what the current version does.
I'm going to be in the car all of Sunday and monday, I'm taking a road trip to Philadelphia to visit my nephew, who turned one recently.
I will then be there for about a week, and do the same thing back, so mod support during that time can only be so fast. If notch throws out another patch I can only get to it so fast.
Chances are nothing will happen to terrain generation, so if notch patches the game, look at what he has changed and determine if it will conflict with the mod, because you might still be able to play. though back your saves and your .jar if you try this

good luck all
Have fun,to users, i recomend start a world now and explore a bit then if a new patch comes out dont explore anymore chunks then re install the mod when he updates :smile.gif:
@Terzaerian I'm glad it was so enticing :wink.gif: , and I have also just put up a section describing the problem with modloader in response to your post
@Alan5234 that is actually a really good idea, though I feel there is a rather small chance of it being a problem in the next week.
and to the community, in the past 20 hours since I released v1.2, it has been downloaded 235 times! :biggrin.gif:, and v1.0 has gotten 67 downloads since it's update! I didn't realize so many people liked the first version so much :biggrin.gif:
Wow I cant find any coal at all, is it all below surface or some above?
Also, is it ok if i have modloader or will that cause something bad to happen?
I pushed the max coal height from 128 (that's as high as the map goes, and this was the default) down to 80. the reason for this was coal was stupidly easy to find since it spawned so high, but I have seen some at the surface just not all of it like before.
you might need to use charcoal :wink.gif:
as for modloader, my mod does not conflict with modloader, and modloader will pull mods that use it out of the main classes, making them not conflict with my mod either :biggrin.gif:
so modloader is very good, it is quite helpful actually

I totally forgot about charcoal fml, over 2,000 blocks walked and not a single piece of coal sited =/
I haven't got to test the gameplay aspect of this mod yet, as I've been experimenting with setting up an SMP server, and MCEdit, but what I've seen so far through Cartographer G I really like. I hope you manage to update the SMP component of this mod soon, because it's topping the list of things I want to include in my server.
EDIT: Here is an animation I made, which shows the relation between iron ore distribution and my test map.
I'm trying out the mod v1.2 with 1.6.5 minecraft. Looks good so far, I found a nice large vein of coal.
I dont know if this is deliberate or a side effect od the ore redistribution but there is no variety in block types underground. Once you hit smooth stone its 100% smooth stone and nothing else. no dirt, no gravel, no sand. Ir makes caves look a little strange when they are 100% smooth stone. I know the ores are grouped together now but has the same thing been done to sand, gravel and dirt?
Also, at what levels does iron show up? Is it all down deep somewhere? Cant seem to find any after several hours. Ive been thrugh some extensive cave systems with nothing but smooth stone, though they were not really deep.
and v1.0 has gotten 67 downloads since it's update! I didn't realize so many people liked the first version so much
I imagine its people that were attracted to the description of it being so ridiculously easy to find ore. I was tempted to try it for a second but went with the latest update.

just tested it and it works fine :tongue.gif:
which means notch didn't do anything to wv.class
edit: but I will still make an official one when MCP catches up, and I'll update v1.0 also
it is with all the ores. i.e iron, coal, redstone, gold, diamond, lapis, dirt and gravel
yes even dirt and gravel. for details on the spawn chance see the v1.2 in the "technical stuff" post on the first page :wink.gif:

if for nothing else this mod is great because it changes how you have to play the start of the game
I would recommend going cave diving when you get torches :wink.gif: best way to find ore for sure
